Review: Next up on Laurent Garnier's label is a split release that explores the deeper end of house and techno. DJ Deep is up first with "What's Going On". Powered by raw, tribal beats and featuring lush pads, it sounds like the veteran house head's tribute to Joe Clausell's organic sound. Avision's "Hold No Groove" is also inspired by house music, but on this occasion, Chicago rather than New York is referenced. Combining a snaking bass with busy, layered percussion, the result is mesmerising. Deetron ups the tempo but maintains a deep sound on "Pulse", its musical but insistent rhythm recalls classic Kenny Larkin.

Review: Celebrating 21 years of Innerground, Marky gets vibey on this wonderful sun-kissed four-tracker. We take off with a fresh take on a Sao Pao classic - the 2004 release XRS collaboration 'Soul Samba'. Updated by the main man Marky and fellow OG Makoto, all its Latin heat remains as the pair take us through their breakbeat paces. Elsewhere 'Star Trippin' goes big with the bassline and strings and the EP title track 'Kochi' brings a little synthy house-flavoured magic to the mix. The dreamiest highlight however has to be '(It's Just A) Simple Song' thanks to its sublime pianos and gentle soulful touch. This is real D&B. Marky is king.

Review: While he never went away, it would be fair to say that DJ Sneak has enjoyed something of a career revival of late. This EP for Phonogramme follows strong recent outings for Heist Recordings, Hard Times and Toy Tonics. He begins in pleasingly bouncy and percussive mode on 'Let It Go', where warming stabs and hushed melodic motifs rise above a Kenny Dope style bumpin' house beat and deep, rich bass, before opting for a wonky, mind-mangling sound on title track 'Galactic Funk'. The Chicago veteran then gives it to us 'Soft & Ruff' - think rolling, locked-in grooves and slowly evolving melodic loops - while closing cut 'Crashin' Out' is a suitably sub-heavy slab of deep loop-house headiness.

Review: B2 Recordings hits release number 13 with DJ Rocca and Lex combing on a trio of fresh house cuts that blend elements of disco, Latin and soul. Up first is the glorious 'Solid Street' which has loose and percussive disco-house grooves overlaid with big synth energy and steamy vocals. 'Solar System' is slower and deeper, with a more rugged bassline and low slung sense of funk that never lets up. Last of all, 'Rose Tree' is a ramshackle house arrangement with whistles, Rhodes keys, tin-pot percussion, florid flutes and plenty of sunny energy all making it a real standout. Review: Following a two-year gap in which he focused on his House Puff and Rutilence labels, Parisian house stalwart DJ Steaw returns to Kerri Chandler's Kaoz Theory imprint. The three original cuts on show are prime Steaw: rock-solid, high-grade house workouts full of audible nods to the halcyon days of US house in the nineties and early noughties. The headline attraction is 'Get Back To The Fonk', a bumpin', spacey and tactile chunk of peak-time ready deep house haziness blessed with plenty of percussive funk. Kaoz Theory regular Josh Buttler remixes, opting for a more loose-limbed rhythm track, echoing melodic snippets and cut-up, garage-style vocal samples. Elsewhere, 'In My House' is an organ and synth-sax-sporting slab of '90s New Jersey nostalgia and 'Don't Stop' is gently acid-flecked deep house hypnotism.

This time around, DJ Pooch is on hand to unleash four high energy creations, opening with the 2023 mix of 'Mind, Body & Soul', a thumping, carnival ready ramp up that focuses both on gritty bass notation and eerie vocal overlays, before 'Rush On Me' takes a classic 'Dibby Dibby Sound' vocal and lets it loose over an old school hardcore arrangement. Review: It's easy to forget, nearly 30 years on, just how big an impact DJ Sneak's raw, jacking, cut-up style had on the house scene when he first emerged back in the mid-90s. But it did - and to his credit he's stuck to his guns ever since, building a multi-decade career based almost entirely on what is known to house connoisseurs as "that tracky shit". It's fair to say there are no great surprises here, then: you either dig Sneak's style or you don't, and I seriously doubt he gives a damn either way. In this writer's book, the man's a stone-cold don, and this six-tracker is going straight in the (virtual) box.

Review: Under the DJ Psychiatre alias, Sylvain Creton is fast becoming a rising star of the current French electronic underground. Further proof of his credentials arrives via 'Glad To Be Back', a four-tracker based on fusing his love of vintage progressive house sounds and the hands-in-the-air rush of piano house. He first gets 'Lost In The New', adding hands-aloft piano stabs, MK style organ motifs and colourful chords to a crispy rhythm track, before opting for a breezier and even more rushing vibe on the similarly kaleidoscopic 'Riding Zone'. 'We Make Records' sees Creton wrap echoing vocal snippets, woozy ambient chords, acid-influenced electronics and jaunty pianos around a shuffling deep house groove, while 'Thinks We Do' is a bubbly, acid-flecked slab of breakbeat house joy.

Here the Bristol-based producer showcases a versatile exploration of tempos and influences on If The Glove Fits, this time drawing from gqom, techno, and Afrobeats. Not to come across as a wild experiment, there's no denying that the club is definitive focus here with heavy staccato basslines, banging percussion and seismic bass-weight all round. Review: Although it might still be too soon to call Texan producer DJ Poolboi a legend, his music is certainly starting to lean the way of legendary, with lo-fi house the artist's trademark. It's the boi's third album in four years across three labels and first on Shall Not Fade in which he's become something of a figure head, and Into The Blue Light signals potential for AOTY (Album of the Year). Filled with deep and impactful emotion, melancholy and warmth, it's a long player that pulls at the heart-strings while firing up the dancefloor with chords, keys and melodies that hit those sweet spots, while booming in kick, bass and drums. Highlights include opener, "Won't Let You Ruin My Mood", the pop-aqua rave of "For The Last Time" and some piano-driven Moby inspirations in "The Joy You Once Felt".

Review: DJ Dextro follows a long line of Portuguese talent such as The Advent and A.Paul - and he shares their ability to make distinctive club-primed techno. This release on KD Raw gives full vent to his capabilities. The title track resounds to cold bleeps, skipping percussion and bursts of white noise, with Dextro bringing these elements together over a pulsating groove. "Bombeiro Sapador" is more familiar sounding. Led by shimmering chords and dubby kicks, it could be a contemporary update on Force Inc 90s techno . Review: The DJ Sneak revival continues, with the U.S house legend pitching up on Dam Swindle's Heist Recordings imprint following fine recent outings on Hard Times, Frappe and Digital Tape Recordings. It may be 30 years since the Chicago house stalwart released his first EP, but his talent for delivering impeccable club cuts has not dimmed - as is proved by the punchy drums, wide-eyed vocal snippets and sumptuous string loops of 'Love Can Make It Happen', and the breathlessly brilliant 'bompty beats' and sleazy acid bass of EP highlight 'Going Back To It'. His ability to work short loops into a frenzy of heads-down and hands-aloft dancing comes to the fore on 'Full Cycle', while 'Pockets' is a veritable breeze of brilliantly programmed, loose-limbed house beats, vocal stabs and wonderfully deep chords.

Predictably, the release gets off to a cheery and sun-splashed start via the lolloping, musically detailed 105 BPM disco excellence of 'Can't Fight Your Love', before DJ Laurel subtly ups the tempo on the swirling, string-laden, dewy-eyed disco-soul of 'Perfect Play'. Those seeking more up-tempo, peak-time-ready thrills should head straight for the gloriously grandiose disco-era Marvin Gaye style brilliance of 'One on One'.

Review: DJs Pareja have been integral in defining the new-school of South American techno both as producers with releases on Cómeme, Turbo and Honey Soundsystem. For this release they arrive on Bryan Kessler's Do The Taboo label with this You & Me EP, sending in four tracks of pumping hard EBM material! With a tinge of Argentine flavour to all of the numbers here, its lead cut is an undeniable jam for the sweaty, fiesta-fuelled dancefloor. Applying some phase-action to the drums of "Macho Beat", trippy vocals add a touch of psychedelica to the record, while "Have A Good Time" holds it down as a dirty drum track with a 3D bubbling bassline and fluctuating synth line. Dany F then applies a stomping remix to "You & Me". DJs Pareja in the house!

Review: DJ Crisps is starting to make some handy garage moves after a couple of various artists' appearances and a fine EP on Time Is Now Germany in July. Now they link up with Oldboy who appeared on Burnski's other label Vivid back in 2022. As you should expect these are four hardcore and rudely garage cuts with plenty of swagger, naughty samples and bass-face potential. 'On My Way' is the standout with its shuffling one-two drum punch, distant police sirens and warped basslines underneath a timeless and irresistible female vocal full of soul. A summer scorcher for sure alongside three more very useful weapons.

Review: It may be an 'odds and ends' release, featuring as it does a mixture of originals, remixes and edits, but DJ Kaos's latest offering is packed to the rafters with high-grade gear. Kaos first offers up his disco sample-heavy edit of Dangerous Dan and Nicky Night Time's 'Mystery' before we're treated to Solomun's hypnotic-but-loose-limbed early morning revision of Kaos's 'I Want To Be There'. His tweak of Daniel Wang and Erland Oye hook-up 'Lessons' is a hybrid deep house meets drowsy nu-disc affair, while 'Only Dead Men Are Free' is a fine fusion of Patrick Cowley style Hi-NRG grooves and elements of country classic 'Jolene'. To round things off, we get two top remixes: the Glimmers' throbbing, wide-eyed sprint through 'Spiral Jetty', and extended Dr Dunks disco-meets-acid house revision of 'Horny Morning Loop'.

Review: Arguably just at home on our Deep House pages, this two-tracker has a classic US house feel - little wonder, given that DJ MoReese hails from the Motor City and cites the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Terrence Parker and Kevin Saunderson as influences. 'Glory' has a descending synth riff front and centre, married to funk horn stabs and urgent vocal snips, while the accompanying 'Lincoln Street Hustle' rocks a jerkier, Madhouse-esque vibe, with a stuttering b-line, cut-up fem vox and pianos that could have come from the mighty TP himself. The latter nudges it for yours truly - but only just, because both cuts are straight out of the top drawer.

The original track focuses on stuttered bass stabs and tidy vocal samples, giving us some exciting elements to play with. Review: Following on from a series of diverse, at times pop-leaning releases, DJ Godfather goes back to his Detroit roots on Killshot. The title track is a frenetic piece of high-tech jazz, with dramatic chords and strings swooping in over a frenetic metallic rhythm. "Funk For The Trunk" is a killer electro track, with Godfather fusing splurging acid with a menacing bass and an angular rhythm. The sum of these parts is an uncompromising but funky workout. And Godfather remains in similar territory for "Subterranean Tech Beat". Based on a barrelling groove, its high frequency tones and relentless percussion prime it for peak-time use.

Review: Katakana regular DJ Laurel returns with his latest contribution to the long-running series. First onto the re-editor's table for surgical rearrangement this time around is the mighty James Brown himself, whose 'It's Too Funky In Here' from 1979 gets reinvented as 'Too Funky'. Next comes 'Melo Do Tagarelo', which bites the 1980 Miele cut of (nearly) the same name - widely regarded as the first hiphop record ever made in Brazil - that married the Sugarhill Gang to exuberant Latin brass, before the EP's completed by 'Maryline', Laurel's take on Christian Gaubert's 1979 French jazz-funk gem 'Sweet Maryline'.

Review: The latest missive on Vastkransen, a Swedish imprint inspired by a regular open-air party, is a solo debut from Bike Thieves member and label co-founder Erik Danielson as DJ Hasse. Written and produced earlier this year, the two original tracks on show do a good job in outlining the DJ/producer's approach to dancefloor workouts. Title track 'Hasse's Fabrication' is genuinely excellent, joining the dots between dubby mid-80s proto-house, saucer-eyed late '80s Balearic house, 21st century nu-disco and turn-of-the-90s deep house. He opts for a sweatier and more up-tempo sound on breakbeat house number 'For My Friends', where rushing piano riffs, Robin S-inspired organ bass and gorgeous chords wrap around infectious beats. Fellow Stockolm resident DJ Beverage provides the accompanying remix, cannily blending Hasse's pianos, bass and chords with a funky-as-hell hip-house break.

Review: Whenever we see the killer combo of both Wang Records and DJ Jackum, we know for a fact that we are in for a treat, as these two-powerhouse outfits link up for this latest rave-ready two tracker. We open up with the slick-moving LFO manoeuvres of 'Dancing All Night', a smartly produced slice between oldschool organ melodies and more futuristic bass design, glued together by nostalgic disco stabs for a truly unique effort. On the flip, more old school garage goodness as 'Tell Me', focusses in on emotive vocal licks and pleasing melodic drifts, giving us a more mellow flip and rounding of proceedings nicely.

Review: Long-serving producer Oliver Marquart has used many aliases over the years, though it's his DJ Jauche project that has been most prominent in recent years. Here he continues his ongoing relationship with Flaneur Recordings with 'Let Me Dance #1', a five-track EP of pleasingly varied (and universally impressive) club cuts. Check first sunny and warming opener 'Freedom of Inner Revolution', an attractive slab of musically detailed deep house gorgeousness, before admiring the intricate percussion patterns, jammed-out keyboard motifs and immersive pads of 'Love Muzik'. Basement-friendly sweatiness is provided via 'Let Me Dance', a slow building chunk of ever-rising electronic house brilliance, while 'Soulcapella' combines eyes-closed vocals with sparse percussion. He ends with a blast of deep breakbeat dreaminess, 'We Need Music'. Excellent stuff all told.

Review: DJ Mourad has a long history with Nice & Nasty, having initially released on the label back in 2011. This EP is focused on the deeper end of Detroit techno, but still packs a punch. A case in point is "Tekfonk (Peaktime version)", where a robust low end supports looped melodies. "Heaptek (Another Deep In Detroit)" sees Mourad pick up the pace but retain a melodic sensibility, with blurry synths unfolding over rolling snares. For those DJs who want to focus on Mourad's rhythmic details, both the original version and "African Brother In The D" take on "Heaptek" will provide everything that they need.

Review: Once again, we see the awesome sounds of Natty Dub Recordings return, this time delivering a pulverising display of original D&B flavour, welcoming the lethal sounds of Serial Killaz inside for a truly tasty remix. The original sounds of DJ Hybrid are on display, as we hear his heavyweight roller 'Back In The Day' receive that classic Serial Killaz overhaul, reworking the track into an even more gritty roller, with a strong focus on gnarly synthesiser growls, eerie backing melodies and of course a combination of hard hitting drum thuds. It's a killer rework that is certain to cause a large amount of damage in the dances.

Review: Unknown to the Unknown satellite hub Dance Trax sends in an arguably label defining release via a new collaborative EP between e-freq, Last Magpie and DJ Haus! Keeping it classic and future-retro in the cosmic, warehouse sounds of "Ace Of Bass" to get the ball rolling - and with subtle bleep and acid influences never far away - "State Of Peace" turns the tremolo up to 11 in the tech house mix. This release though is all about the original that goes miles to evoke a classic breakbeat sound that's as much Sheffield as it the Balearic islands to Muslemgauze and Andrew Weatherall. Proto-originality so fine you can almost hear the ghosts in the machine. May they rest in this State Of Peace.
