Review: Hallelujah it's DJ Spen with a new testament of vocal heavy, diva-praising gospel house. Justify yourself with tracks by The BlackKnight and soulful piano numbers by Assurance. With the compilation pumping in around the 130bpm mark there's "Heaven" to be found in the sweet high notes of a Stacy Kidd, Tasha LaRae & DJ Spen' collaboration, and according to Byron Stingily "It's all Jesus". In remix form Spen's best work here is best found in DJ Booman's "God's Got It" and a whole host of others For those introduced to gospel house by Robert Hood's Floorplan project, this is your next stop to righteousness.
Review: Three years after the original album appeared, Crazy P's Age of The Ego has been given the remix treatment. As you'd expect given the talent on show, there are plenty of top-drawer reworks scattered across the album, from Gerd Janson's set-opening Italo-disco and High-NRG flavoured revision of 'We Will F*** You Up', and Medlar's Dele Sosimi-featuring post Afro-boogie take on collaborative cut 'The Witness', to DJ Nature's bumpin', sub-heavy deep house re-wire of 'SOS' and Soulphiction's groovy roller-boogie tweak of 'Barefooted', which was one of the final remixes the German completed before his death last year. Throw in a handful of revisions by Crazy P members Chris Todd (as Hot Toddy) and Jim Baron (as Ron Basejam), and you've got a predictably impressive package.
