Review: Top Billin deliver the goods yet again with this absolute smash on their own imprint, featuring vocals from Virus Syndicate. The original mix is pretty much the perfect combination of UK funky and electro house, featuring a satisfyingly heavy bassline, a bit of funky swing in the snappy rhythm and some of the best flow from Virus Syndicate to date. Say Wut's remix takes a lighter approach than the original, taking away the huge bassline, and pushing things in a funky direction, with the jangling percussion and hollow synth melody providing just as effective a backdrop to the vocals as the massive original, whilst Killahurtz's remix provides an impressive big room reworking which sees Top Billin's original and raises it with its abrasive bassline. Despite these huge remixes on offer, Top Billin should be applauded for capping the collection off with a remix from juke heroes DJ Rashad and DJ Earl which pushes the tempo up to 150bpm without breaking a sweat, offering a machinegun MPC workout that is perhaps the highlight of the EP.

Review: Defected's ongoing House Masters series should be essential listening for anyone keen to discover more about the recording careers of some of the scene's most iconic producers. Certainly, this latest installment, chronicling NYC legend Todd Terry's finest moments, contains far more hits than misses. At 35 tracks deep, it's a bit of a beast, but features not only all of his best-known productions ("Weekend", "Can You Party", "I'll House You", "Bango (To The Batmobile)", his remix of Everything But The Girl's "Missing"), but also a swathe of lesser-known remixes (A slammin' version of Bizarre Inc's "I'm Gonna Get You"), Dubs (a brilliantly stripped-back version of Hardrive's "Voices Inside My House") and original productions (the hip-house era madness of Black Riot's "Warlock").

Review: As a label, Yosh has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, bringing together some of the bass scenes most exciting artists on both compilations and single releases. Here they team up with the wise owls of Tengu to put together a powerhouse tracklisting, bringing in a host of new faces such as KXVU, Movement, Pavv, J69 and. R3DX, as well as bringing back some of their favourite regulars. For us the stand outs have to include Kyle Riot's emotive bass belter in 'Through My Eyes' which combines electronically processed vocal stabs with shimmering bass textures. Another highlight would have to be Mofaux's 'Soldier' composition, which combines skippy drum rhythms with a grinding LFO and more catchy vocal stabs. Excellent stuff.
