Review: Kariya's "Let Me Love You For Tonight" is a freestyle classic from 1988 which received a massive remix by Electronic Youth a little while back. You can now add Casa Blanco's version to the list which retains all the neon-lit qualities of the original, yet reshaped for modern dancefloors. The track originally appeared on her debut, non-album single on Sleeping Bag Records. It was written by and produced by Bob and Jerry Ferrer. After this, Kariya disappeared into obscurity.

No guilty 80s pop pleasures here, just obscure disco, Italo and boogie nuggets expertly repolished to suit modern dancefloors, the arguable exception to that rule being an excellent take on the Detroit Emeralds' 1972 soul/funk classic "Baby Let You Take Me (In My Arms)", here reinvented as "Let Me Kiss You". It's an eclectic selection for sure, and which tracks hit hardest for you will probably depend on how you feel about the originals, but give all of 'em a whirl because some of the reworks are quite radical in approach. Review: Anyone who decides to dedicate a fair chunk of his debut edits release to scalpel cuts of tracks from Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane and Stevie Wonder must have gonads the size of watermelons. Sitting down could be an uncomfortable proposition, then, for the mysterious V, whose seven-track debut EP also includes chunky, floor-friendly re-tweaks of The Kinks and Sly & The Family Stone (as well as a couple of stonking disco bangers). While some would argue that much of the material here didn't need messing with, he's done an excellent job. The Dub of "Whole Lotta Love", for example, is pitched just right, offering much more bang and exactly the right amount of disco dubbiness.

Highlights include AT's bleepy 8-bit hip-hop groove "Flash Bang", the epic, symphonic trap of Dubzta's "Lord Of War" and the almost disco tech grooves of "Murkers' by King Hydra. All killer, no filler!

You certainly know the score on Our Last Dance" (V's Pressure vocal mix) by KWEEN, or so you think - until you actually hear it. Mercury rising, what more can we say! Elsewhere, there's some more respectful remakes that stay truer to the originals such as the classic disco of Physics' "If You Love Me" (V's No Fools edit), likewise things get properly lo-slung on Archy Bells "Let's Groove" (V's Simple edit).

Review: Serbia's Disco Fruit bring us a digital collection of tracks that were (mostly) previously only available on wax. Label boss Tonbe supplies four of 'em, and with most of the rest coming from equally familiar names such as Dr Packer, Hotmood, Mitiko and Loshmi, you know the bar's set high! Stylistically, the album ranges from authentic-sounding low-slung funkers like Hotmood's 'Let's Ride' and Tonbe's 'Gem Picker' to the breezy uptempo soul of 84Bit's 'Mamma Jamm' and the boogie nouveau of Dr Packer & Loshmi's 'In Case Of Emergency', while special shout-outs go to Evil Smarty, who almost out-Fatbacks Fatback, and to Mitiko's excellent reworking of the mighty Janet.

Review: Since launching earlier this year, Disco Tech's DiscoDat label has picked up a lot of attention within the re-edit community. Here, Disco Tech gathers together a bunch of previously unreleased reworks from some of his pals in the scene. It's a good collection, variously alternating between dubbed-out slo-mo soul (see his own "Stormy", Reflex's "Thrill Is Gone" and Andrew Clarke's excellent "Mellow Blow") and dancefloor disco (Steef's "Whole Lotta Love", B-Jam's cut-up gem "Seen It All"). He also finds space for Copycat's excellent "You'll Like It Too", a gospel-tinged soulful number that should impress all those who like their disco soulful, musical and uplifting.

Review: Another Persnickety release and another fine clutch of edits to add to any discerning disco head. And they've really gone to town on this. Fittingly First Choice are up first; their squidgy bass n' string session perfectly dissected by Snippet to form a more subdued, deeper groove. Next up, Lou Rawls "Let Me Be Good To You" gets a deep techy treatment from Matpat Difference. With just snippet of vocal and a whole new whirligig of psychedelia, it's more a complete overhaul than an edit. Finally we hit Kasso's "One More Round". Once remixed by Mr Knuckles, now sassed up by DJ Bang, it's been given a total groove refocus while retaining the enduring playground pop flavours.

Review: On the whole, it might be better if Milos Djordjevic (Tonbe/Loshmi) and Sasha Mitich (Mitiko) weren't quite so talented - that way, yours truly wouldn't have written so many glowing reviews of their releases that it's getting quite embarrassing now. I should probably just buy a set of Tonbe pillowcases and have done with it! Anyway, here's another joint outing from the two Balkan boogie merchants, which - like previous installments - includes a mix of new and previously released material, spans funk, disco, boogie and soul, and features both original (albeit often sample-based) productions and Loshmi's masterly reworkings of cuts from Barbara Streisand, Mark Morrison and more. Sterling stuff all round - again, just like previous installments.

Review: Disco aficionados look no further for your fresh overdubs, edits and fire selections than this latest REDUX INC session - five epic years in the making. Packing plenty of punch in the drums - there's no denying the dancefloor designs of what's on offer here. Take the epic disco strings of "Keep Your Body Working" and "Super Lover" to the soulful diva sessions in "Real Love". For those classic jams to bring the house down it's all about "Spacer" and "Let Me Love You" (no explanation necessary) with some more abstract numbers like "Hare's Lump" and "Showtime" helping balance a slightly exotic and funk vibe next to some straight-laced classics in "Can't You See Me (Lethal Weapon mix)" and "Ten Percent (Casa Blancos Multitrack remix)". REDUX raining GOLD!

From the lo-slung boogie of "Forgetin", the pure disco inferno of "Feel Like I Feel", the massive horns arrangement of "Funkin' Around" or the classic soulful vibes of "Your Love" - this collection of classics is timeless and all have been respectfully edited by the man - just the way we like it. It's a whopper of a compilation, with 26 tracks all in all. And if that was not enough, they are all mixed to perfection on not one, but two continuous mixes - which had us boppin' about the office all day and will no doubt have you dancin' the nights way too - well into 2018! Review: An absolute leviathan of a compilation from Project Allout here, and it's just in time for some Christmas cheer from one of the fastest growing UK bass hubs in the game! A tad packed for us to go through it all, but this is guaranteed quality, especially given the fact that the release features plenty of label regulars, new faces and even some pretty incredible cameo appearances from the likes of Caspa, Deadbeat and Dubzta. Each puts in a fine performance, particularly Deadbeat with his "Street Life" cut, a glorious mashup of funky house breaks and wobbled low-end. Be sure to check the licks from Spooky, Mr Dubzta and Tuff Culture, too. Badman vibes and another stunner from Project Allout.

Review: All re-edit labels have their own twist on things and Handshakes' thing is classic funk. After messing around with singles for a while, they've bitten the bullet and delivered a long player. It's been worth the wait too as there's a whopping 19 tracks to choose from featuring a mix of names both familiar and new. Highlights include the touchy-feely throb of "Groove On (IMFROMULL edit)", the grey leather slip on electro-funk of "You Wanna Get Up (Dr Packer Funkout)" and the raw, slap-bass heaven of Jam Master's "Party Lights".

Review: Spanish nu-disco DJ Nelue has developed quite a reputation for himself both with his residency at his Moroder Sound Club and with his label, Groove Democracy. Now he's upped his game again by delivering a seriously impressive 24-track label compilation featuring his own work and a selection of offerings from a host of key names on the re-edit scene. Highlights include Nelue's gentle retweak of Terri Well's 1984 anthem "All My Love", the chuggy arpeggiation of "Canebiere Man" and The Metaphysical's Bloop Crack glorious extension of Wham!'s kitchen synth drama, "Everything She Wants".

Review: Teniente Castillo's Madrid-based disco/nu-disco imprint Play Pal Music got off to the perfect start last year, delivering a sweet compilation of re-edits, reworks and original tracks that found its way into the playlists of many top selectors. This follow-up repeats the formula, delivering a wide range of goodness, from the string-drenched nu-Balearic goodness of Trip Guitar's "El Vuelto", to the baggy, horn-heavy, filter-sporting disco-funk revivalism of Disco Tech's "Let Me". Highlights are plentiful, from the superb re-edits of Get Down Edits (whose touchy-feely "Holdin' Me Back" is excellent) and Beaten Space Probe (check "Gotta Play Funk", with its woozy synth doodles), to the heavy electrofunk of Juan Laya and Thomass Jackson.

Review: Fresh from featuring on Major Lazer's "Blaze Up The Fire", Chronixx's 2013 hymn-like sing-along track "Odd Ras" gets the jungle treatment. Black Pearl affiliate Noble DNB emphasises the steppy dancehall elements of the original while 0 To 100 strips the dynamic back to a smoky pensive halftime groove. For good measure BLK PRL's Channel 2 also gets in on the version action with a busy twist of Dennis Brown's "Let Me Love You". Rockers delight.

Review: London based Shy Cookie returns on the always reliable Audio Intuition label, to serve up some proper timeless UKG the way it was always intended. To prove his point, he has teamed up with Sweet Female Attitude - the UK garage outfit consisting of Leanne Mason - who had a hit back around the turn of the millenium. There are three tracks on offer as part of the collaboration and they're all terrific particularly "Serious" which reminded us of late '90s classics by R.I.P. or Double 99. Elsewhere there is some deep down and dirty street style on "Twisted" (feat J.J) and something on the more sensual and romantic R'n'B tip with "Let Me Show You How" (feat Kayla Amor).
