Review: As we move further into the new decade, we are thrilled to see that the Encrypted Audio team are continuing to keep up the pace, as they welcome one of 2019's standout producers: Cartridge. He kicks off this powerful four track collection with the colourful melodies and smooth grooves of 'Daffodils In February', followed by the incredibly gnarly tones of 'Isham'. Next, eastern patterns are combined with scratchy drums on 'Riot' with excellent results, alongside the final track 'Stubble', which uses chiming melodies and swirling sub textures to round us off nicely. Tidy work!

Review: Jacaszek's last outing on Matthew Dear's fine Ghostly International imprint came all the way back in 2011 but, then again, the artist doesn't exactly put out a vast amount of music. It's most certainly quality over quantity for this imperceptible producer, and we respect him for it. In fact, this is surely what drove Jon Wozencraft to land him on the sublime Touch label, and we take that as a sign that this guy is worth shouting about. KWIATY is a work of immense beauty, dipping and diving its way through dark and mysterious corners of the ambient domain; places that many other artists of this calibre rarely visit. For an album that is somewhat ominous by nature, there are plenty of uplifting moments throughout, and this is undoubtedly brought to the foray by the soulful voices riding high on the crest of solitary, hollow drones in the underbelly of the sonic sketches. It's an ambient album for people who are not into the genre. It's for those wishing to float and meditate to some beautiful melodic waves.

Review: Some two years after his last LP, Bibio is back with Warp unfurling more of his tape-warped wisdom for those more reflective moments in your life. It's a mellow affair at nearly every turn, from the distant shoegaze malaise of "Dye The Water Green" to the purposefully MOR folk of "Raincoat", but there's still some cheeky fun to be had in between the more introverted spells on Silver Wilkinson. For example "You" gets busy with radio-busting vocal and orchestral snippets with an end result that feels compatible with the more imaginative corners of mainstream hip hop and R&B production. Really though, listening to Bibio is all about getting wrapped up in the pastoral dreamworld he inhabits, where songs can be songs, singers can be singers and sound sources can come from anywhere.
