In preparation for Miami's Winter Music Conference, Mark Knight & Co. serve up their hit predictions on Toolroom Miami 2019 - accept no substitute! Across a whopping 62 tracks, there's all you need to hear, right here, across the event's five consecutive days and compiled in three continuous mixes, appropriately titled: The Poolside Mix, The Club Mix and rather appropriately The Afterclub Mix. Highlights not limited to: Illyus & Barrientos swingin' diva antics on "Shout", chief Mark Knight with Danny Howard channeling early noughties tech house on the polyrhythmic "You Can Do It Baby", French bass-house hero Shiba San on the super boompty "Crush That" through to legend ATFC on the epic "Strong 2 Survive" (Dario D'Attis extended mix) and Israeli progressive house expert Khen on the slinky and hypnotic "Pecas" (original mix).
Review: A whopping 32 tracks of vital tech-house from the Cr2 staple, available as either separate tracks or as a couple of continuous DJ mixes, and featuring a bevy of truly special tunes - check out the heart-stoppingly smooth and beautiful breakdown in the middle of One Hand's "New Day" for example, or the subtle, almost whisper-quiet vocal touches during "Tufi" by Darko De Jan. Special points should also go out to Mark Reeve's "JB's Boogie" for sampling James Brown in a thrillingly original way - a rare skill after almost 30 years of Godfather pilfering.

Review: The word 'unique' is grave danger of wheezing its last breath these days. Very few things genuinely are 'one of a kind' Especially in dance music. The crazy Italian kids at Slowild, however, are really unique. Taking hardstyle theory to the glitch and moombhaton audience, they've slowed down one of the scariest forms of music to create something really interesting. At points you'll be reaching for the record player to switch the speed up, before realising it's digital and supposed to sound this way. Oozing drama and imagination, this is the best hardstyle album you will ever hear.
Review: It sounds like Ibiza 2013 will be remembered as the year that the piano returned. At least that's the sense one gets from listening to the latest Toolroom compilation. From C2's edit of new school house act Bicep's "Vision of Love" to the trance meets old school techno of Kaiserdisco's "Night & Day", the plaintive ivory keys loom large. Of course there are exceptions, like Breach's stripped back, abrasive remix of Jamie Jones' "Tonight In Tokyo", but when even the darker tracks, like Ejeca's "Witchdokta" sampling, break beat house monster "Rosario", drops into an evocative piano break down, you know that it's the dominant sound of the season.

Review: Glasgow Underground's Ibiza compilations are traditionally the biggest releases of the year for label head honchos Sam Dexter and Kevin McKay. It's stated they 'have been working their socks off to collect the best selection of cuts' and aimed squarely at White Isle dancefloors this Summer. Starting off with Sante Sansone's remix for the aforementioned McKay. This 'Italian stallion' drops his usual disco style for "What U Want", Barcelona's finest De La Swing impresses us as always with the rolling peak time stomper "No Rules" and also Vanilla Ace & Dharkfunkh's "What We Gonna Do?" (Kevin McKay remix) really brings the funk like no other on this disco-fied joint. It's a whopper here: comprised of a few dozen tracks, it's all damn good value and there's enough surefire grooves on here to keep the kids on your dancefloor groovin and movin' all Summer. And if you can't be bothered with all that: it's conveniently mixed up to perfection across three volumes by McKay himself.
