Review: Last year Diesler raised eyebrows by releasing his 5th long player, Sounds Familiar, on A Little Something Recordings instead of his traditional home of Tru Thoughts. The switch did him good - producing a well-received album with a new sense of adventure. The latest single to be taken from the LP is "Human When We Dance": a sultry jazz-funk groove-a-thon that sounds like a house band providing the good vibes in a run down beach bar in some tropical location. Jack & Jointz meanwhile deliver a slinky rework that sounds like early Duran Duran on downers (a good thing btw).

Review: Legendary Australian DJ Cam Bianchetti, these days known as Late Night Tuff Guy (aka HMC) is said to be 'honoured' to appear on the esteemed Salsoul Records with three killer edits of classics from their back catalogue. LNTG respectfully handles and edits them with care. Featuring First Choice's anthems "Doctor Love" (Late Nite Tuff Guy Hypnotizin' Groove) and "Love Having You Around" (Late Nite Tuff Guy rework). This is followed by Double Exposure's "Everyman" which gets respliced and stretched to perfection once again, plus featuring those epic filter sweeps throughout for added dancefloor drama. Beautifully mastered, these edits appeared courtesy of 2018's Record Store Day and is certainly one for the disco heads right here!

Review: The scalpel fiends and rework hounds behind the Editorial label rarely disappoint, and this latest split EP is packed with floor-friendly midtempo goodies. The most revelatory cut of all is Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee's "Slow Fire", a delicious 109 BPM bumper that re-casts Gwen McRae's electrofunk-era disco bomb as a stoned head-nodder. It works so well that you wonder why nobody's done it before. Elsewhere, there's some sweet groovery from Feza, a surprisingly percussive disco-funk jam from the usually dawdling 78 Edits, and a decidedly Balearic jazz-funk excursion from Manmademusic and Freshtone. Really, it's only the usually on-point B-Jam who lets the side down with the so-so "Everyday".
