Review: Monnom Black deserves huge praise for curating and releasing Legacy. A look back at the varied and brilliant output of Thomas Heckmann, under an array of projects and pseudonyms, this introspective has it all. There's the gritty, jacking "EBM 1" and the storming, cyber-punk rhythm of "Teufeslwerk", with both offering views of Heckmann's industrial influences. On "Realms", he delivers a distinctive take on acid - 303s are fused with a piledriving rhythm. Heckmann's most feted tracks are also included - the synth rush of "Amphetamine" still burns brightly as does the raw techno of his Force Inc classic "Tanzmaschine". Legacy also provides a reminder of the German artist's range. "Virtual Plane" is a haunting trance workout while at the other end of this essential spectrum is the expansive ambient techno of "Parnophelia".
