Review: Sixth in the series, This Is Dubstep is one of the more comprehensive, on-point series the scene has given us (ie: many!) Across the 40 tracks every single shade is covered; from rave-tinged (Noisia's remix of "Smack My Bitch Up") to all-out technicolour bass (Drumsound & Bassline Smith), This Is Dubstep 2013 pays respect to all corners of the dance - including the really far-out experimentations of Mala and his Cuban project. With exclusives such as V.I.V.E.K's "Barcelona" and Killawatt's "Single Entity" thrown in for good measure, this isn't just a summary of today's dubstep; it's a slice of the future too.
Review: QD boss Diogini continues his never-ending groove campaign with this deeply trippy homage to the unknown residents of deep space. Opening with the Kraftwerk electro hymn "The Way For New Dimensions", we're soon sucked into Diogini's audio telescope, watching the funkiest planets the universe can offer. From Planet Nu Disco ("Mental") to the wonky Planet Far Out "This Is Magonia" via the good old Planet Cosmic ("O Zero O") this is a one-way ticket into the deepest of space.
Review: Cripes! Top Billin' doesn't seem to even stop for Christmas! This latest is a compilation of their best releases from 2012, and considering their pretty hefty back catalogue, they had their work cut out for them. Boasting a whopping 25 tracks, the album's highlights include the Tropical campery of "Phil So Real", the glorious "Always Got My Back", the Future bass exoticism of "I Told Ya", the sparse and dreamy drum machine and soft pad heaven of "Find Your Love", the sci-fi ghetto beats of "Work It", the badass old skool house of "House Girl" and "Motion Elements (Snuff Crew remix)" and the blissed out Italo-disco ish "Shake Sitten (Kush Arora remix)".
