Review: First released back in 2021, Belgian-Japanese artist Ailli's debut EP - a collaboration with another hotly-tipped Belgian producer, Transistorcake - returns in expanded form. Fittingly, this new edition adds a wealth of unheard remixes from Japanese artists. There's plenty to set the pulse racing among the five original tracks on show, including the low-slung, dubbed-out psych-disco chug of 'Dansu', the sparkling Italo-disco revivalism of acid-fired throb-job 'Oki', and the immersive, dawn-ready dreaminess of 'Genki'. Remix wise,Shinichi Osawa's TB-303 powered acid house take on 'Dansu' is superb, Narkiaki's Maurice Fulton-esque tweak of 'Pari Pari' is a treat, and the Stones Taro revision of solo Aili tune 'Toki-Doki' is an impossible-to-pigeonhole, groove-driven delight. In a word: essential!

In its Original form, 'Anima' is a sleazy, pulsating midtempo groover that comes on like the missing link between Balearica and Belgian new beat, with a nice acid-y squelch to the b-line and a growling, spoken one-line vocal. Lila Tirando A Violeta's remix strips it down and weirds it out for those small-hours moments on floors that like things a little more experimental.

Review: Let's jump on the trans-European disco duo express now, as the French pairing of Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco, AKA Two Man, join forces with Vienna-based indie/disco twosome Wiener Planquadrat and Berlin-based electro double act Local Suicide. 'Temple Of Bloom' in its Original form is a darkly quirky affair with brooding beats, insistent drill-like bass stabs and a touch of breakbeat around the edges, all topped off with a treated vocal sample from Barbara Mason's West End classic 'Another Man'. The latter then comes further to the fore on Local Suicide & Wiener Planquadrat's sleazily throbbing remix, which is probably the better bet for dancefloor play.

Review: After taking time out to contribute tracks to a handful of popular compilations released on the Partyfine label, Lille-based duo You Man returns to Eskimo Recordings with their first full EP in nearly three years. The headline-grabbing highlight is title track 'As Above So Below (Xcuses)', a moody and clandestine affair in which Harold's effects-laden vocals rise above dark chords, a throbbing arpeggio-driven synth bassline, wayward electronics and jazzy beats. That said, there's much to admire elsewhere across the EP, from the mid-tempo, organ bassline-driven chug of 'Third Eye', to the hypnotising nu-disco shuffle of 'Somethin' Higher' and the sweaty, breakbeat-driven thrills of mind-mangling closing cut 'Temple of Boom'.

Review: Almost six years have passed since Paresse's first two outings on Eskimo Recordings, making the amusingly titled 'Meat Robots' well overdue. The Stockholm producer is in prime form too, offering up an atmospheric, moody and otherworldly take on nu-disco full of sustained chords, bubbly electronics, Kraftwerk-esque vocals and not so subtle nods to both the legendary German electropop pioneers and 21st century Italo-disco. There are two fine remixes to enjoy: a glassy, reverb-laden revision by Curses that doffs a cap to Bobby Orlando and the Pet Shop Boys circa 1986, and a locked-in, nu-disco-goes-house re-wire courtesy of Radial Gaze.
