Review: Roman Fluegel is one of the most versatile dancefloor producers, but on this release he shows his softer, more melodic side. The common theme on Fatty Folders is a sense of melancholy, be it through the use of delicate cowbells on the dubby house of "How To Spread Lies" and the blue mood and delicate hooks of the DJ friendly "Lush Life Libido" or on the graceful, piano-led arrangements of "Song with Blue". It sounds like Fluegel is maturing as an artist and tellingly, even darker, more pared back tracks like "The Improviser" even have a reflective undercurrent. If this is Fluegel's focus from now on, we've a lot to look forward to.

Review: Amazingly, No Fantasy Required is Tiga's first album for seven years, and sees him switch from long-time home Different to Ninja Tune offshoot Counter Records. Those who've followed his career to date will immediately feel at home, as he delivers a set of stylish, attractive songs that variously tip a wink to Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Junior Boys, Chicago acid, Visionquest, Visage and, of course, his electroclash past. While the references are obvious, Tiga is smart enough to put his own spin on them, resulting in an album that expertly tiptoes the fine line between radio-friendly accessibility and his broad palette of underground club influences.

Review: Yam Who is a man who is on a mission to uncover the coolest cult re-edit guys around and make sure the public hear them. This is usually through his own ISM imprint and it's also usually via the medium of the EP. Here, though he's gone all out to present this huge compilation album, bursting with party goodness, and boasting 24 tracks. Highlights include the '80s Child's rework of power-snare soul anthem "Let Me Be The One", the neon glow of arpeggiated synth boogie gem "Jeckermich" and Ron Basejam's deep and sensuous take on the sultry electro-soul of "Changes".

Review: Two years ago, Letherette launched the Mander House series via a limited-edition cassette of sweaty, hip-house influenced workouts. This belated follow-up is similarly sample based but stylistically a little different, with the sometime Ninja Tune-signed duo offering up a mixture of dusty deep house, loopy disco-house box jams and hazy, loose-limbed jazz-house. Highlights include the dewy-eyed female vocal samples, swirling strings and jazz-fired house drums of 'Break My Heart', the R&B-sampling peak-time bump of 'Too Much' (think Seven Davis Jr, and you're close), the chopped and screwed heaviness of 'I Don't Need You' and the soaring, Soundstream style disco-house weightiness of 'Triple'.
