Lobe Lube - (6:23) 122 BPM
Played by: Alkalino, Nachtbraker
Review: London label Fancy Human is the collective of Leigh Morgan, Rob King and Tom Coulling. Morgan also runs Urban Torque and offers us some sublime deep house that fans of Freerange or Retrofit will definitely dig. First track "Sandy Peanuts" is a lush and cruisy affair that is great to get the evening started in eloquent fashion. The remix by Amsterdam's Frits Wentik is superb: bumping, slinky tech house that works! Staying on that vibe is "Time To Chime" that serves up equal smatterings of melody and soul while "Lobe Lube" is the kind of sexy late night deepness that could of found a home on Steve Bug's Dessous equally well.

Searching For Steve - (6:06) 121 BPM
Review: Leigh Morgan of Fancy Human is back and proclaims the doubt on everyone's mind at the moment on "There's No Meat On Your Love", a deep, slinky and emotive number with femme vox murmurs, soulful elements and lovably wonky synths. "I've Got Strength In My Hands" stays on the deep house tip with some bittersweet vibes; those Detroit-ish chords work wonderfully. The hi-tech soul leanings continue on "Patting With A Purpose" with its massive pad progressions which build and build during the track. which we thought was a highlight!

Kinda Hooked
Kinda Hooked - (5:46) 117 BPM
I Can Dig It - (5:28) 120 BPM Hot
Played by: Lucatwana
Review: Fancy Human co-founders Rob King and Tom Coulling once again don the Lucatwana guise for their first outing of 2017. Title track "Kinda Hooked" is deliciously loose and dusty, sitting somewhere between the jazz-flecked warmth of Detroit deep house, the low-slung grooves of dancefloor jazz, and the smoother explorations of labels such as Retrofit and Freerange. "I Can Dig It" is similarly eccentric, and features bluesy horn samples rubbing shoulders with elastic acid lines, intergalactic electronics and a sweaty, dirt-encrusted rhythm track. It's tricky to easily pigeonhole, but hugely enjoyable - much like the majority of their back catalogue, in fact.

Almost Champion - (6:07) 118 BPM
Review: Leigh Morgan is one of the three points on the Fancy Human power triangle (he's one of three label heads) and also has a strong reputation for delivering deep house on other labels too. Here he whips up three new sizzlers for our listening pleasure - the looped, mid pace back and forth grooves of "Dilly Of A Pickle", the distorted and woozy late 80s ecstasy vibes of "Pie On The Sly" and the malfunctioning stop/start electronics of "Almost Champion". The opener also gets a "Dubfloor remix" by Chocky, who turns in a warm and seductive late night '90s house joint.

Wafting Capacity
Wafting Capacity - (7:15) 124 BPM
Vexatious Foot - (6:16) 123 BPM
Delicate Doors - (5:41) 122 BPM Hot
Review: Sometime Urbantorque founder Leigh Morgan has enjoyed something of a career rebirth since establishing the Fancy Human label in 2015. Wafting Capacity is his seventh release for the imprint in just over two years, and includes three more quietly impressive chunks of melodious, heavily electronic deep house. Check, in particular, the title track's undulating electronics, rubbery beats and lilting synthesizer motifs, which combine to create a jolly, analogue-rich mood. Elsewhere, Morgan explores his love of vintage synthesizers and drum computers on the jaunty synth-pop/deep house hybrid "Vexacious Foot", before wrapping more deliciously melodious motifs and jazzy synth flourishes around a rolling groove on blissful closer "Delicate Doors".

Nuggets Of Displeasure
Nugget Of Displeasure - (7:05) 123 BPM Hot
Cosmic Log - (7:21) 123 BPM
Oddly Modern - (6:42) 120 BPM
Review: Less than six months on from his last solo outing, Leigh Morgan returns to the Fancy Human label he co-founded back in 2015. The experienced producer seems to be getting better with age, and it's heartening to report that Nuggets of Displeasure is one of his strongest EPs to date. The title track sets the tone, with looped organ stabs and gorgeous piano flourishes sitting astride a fuzzy, saucer-eyed deep house groove. As the title suggests, the rolling "Cosmic Log" is a more spacey and heavily electronic affair, with Morgan smothering the undulating rhythm track in fluttering, off-kilter chords. Arguably best of all, though, is closer "Oddly Modern", a kind of tropical house/deep house fusion that comes complete with vintage tech-house touches and a melancholic melody line.

Cherished Spaces
Cherish My Spaces (vocal) - (6:23) 121 BPM
I'm A Man With Hands - (5:33) 123 BPM Hot
Cherish My Spaces (instrumental) - (6:23) 121 BPM
Played by: Leigh Morgan
Review: Like a fine wine or a robust single malt whisky, Leigh Morgan seems to be getting better with age. Since co-founding Fancy Human in 2015 - some 12 years after his first productions slipped out on wax - the experienced producer has delivered some of his finest deep house cuts. There's plenty more top-notch material to be found on this attractive three-tracker. The fluid and rolling "Cherish My Spaces" is featured in two forms: there's the "Vocal" mix, where snippets of a woozy, R&B-influenced vocal wrap themselves around rich pianos, spacey electronics, crunchy drumbeats and a thickset bassline, and a lilting "Instrumental", which includes a spine-tingling bassline. The late '90s UK deep house revivalism of "I'm a Man With Hands" completes a tasty package.

Gin And Justice
Lucatwana - "Just Is" - (6:36) 118 BPM Hot
Runs With Scissors - "Let U Know" - (6:05) 122 BPM
Played by: Leigh Morgan
Review: As the spring is finally putting herself to bed and summer's tucking her in, the crew at Fancy Human are back with their next offering, "Gin and Justice". It has been a while - but as they have said before, those Lucatwana boys don't half like a slumber: but it's nothing that a sharp stick and the promise of a free gin can't fix! Seems that tactic works a treat and they are in excellent, disco tinged/housey form on the opening track "'Just Is'". As if that news in itself is not exciting enough, they have also welcomed a new artist to the fold - Runs With Scissors: who have put in a rather sterling effort on their debut track '"Let U Know'"
