Review: There's a time for accessible podium belters, and there's a time for deeper jams that aren't afraid to take a left turn now and again. This five-tracker is one to reach for when you're firmly into the latter zone, as Multi Culti serve up a collection of eyes-down, late-night cuts that mine various global musics for inspiration: Sheila Chandra has been a stalwart of the British Asian music scene for 40 years, Sababa 5's 'Nasnusa' is a take on a classic Mizrahi song, while the title of 'Amakondera' references a style of Rwandan music that uses horn- and gourd-based wind instruments. An EP that will delight those whose tastes lean towards the exotic and the less familiar.

Review: Releases on Canada's Multi Culti have come from artists as diverse as Zongamin, Red Axes and Jagwar Ma, but generally speaking electronic music from the more experimental/leftfield side is their stock-in-trade, and such is the case on this five-track V/A. Clear cosmic/Italo disco influences have landed the EP on this page but there are hints too of everything from dub (see Hermetics & Hannah Lee's 'Lux Naturae') to Indian/Middle Eastern music (check out Ponty Mython's hypnotic 'Pinto La Meah'), while special mention must be made of Magic Pirate's closer - we're just gonna go right ahead and love any track called 'Make Me A Jazz Coffee' on principle!

Review: The ever reliable Tronik Youth is back with more of what he does best - providing neon-flecked electro-disco sizzlers for arpeggiated bass fiends. However, he always add a little extra spice to the formula, and on "Suicide Doors" he takes us on a hypnotic grind with heavy nod to the jackin' end of body music. Remix-wise, Inigo Vontier gets into a trancey acid zone, Future Bones slows things down into a throbbing analogue beast and Tici Taci ends things with a bit of perky Italo-disco.

Review: Hi NRG yet slo-mo, Dark Strands present a chugging single of burning nu-disco with a heavy cast of remixers. The original, however, sits at a low slung 106 BPMs and features all the loved tropes of the genre - up front Italoc synths, breeze block-sized beats, breathy vocals, and yes, cowbells. The Heretic remix focuses its energies on the vocals and synths while adding a gruelling 303 bassline, while Inigo Vontier goes big and progressive, similar to the music of Dusty Kid. Tronik Youth turns the track into an electrified piece of rocking, electro Balearica, and stripped back sensations is the order of the day for DJ ATHome.

Review: From the cold lands of Saint Petersburg, Mexican label Calypso welcomes to the family newcomers Radial Gaze. On this EP, the Russian duo makes clear that there is nothing icy about their music - on the contrary - their music is full of voodoo trance and mamba jamba. Features the exotic lo-slung groove "Orchid Flake, followed by the tripped-out punk funk of "Factura" and the powerful cosmic nu-disco jam "Eski". Finally label boss Inigo Vontier takes on the remix from the title track to peak hour times with a hypnotic bass line and psychotic modular synths and percussion.

Review: Since launching back in 2012 with a suitably grisly EP from Moon Runner, Disque-Discos' occasional Discorror series has provided listeners with an impressive catalogue of horror-influenced, heavily electronic disco jams. This fifth installment, arriving just in time for Halloween, offers more of the same. There's naturally plenty to enjoy, from the John Carpenter-on-steroids pomp of Comegatos' "Ultratumba" and psycho strings of Gameboyz dark italo jam "Casa De Morte", to the throbbing bass, snappy analogue hits and moody electronics of Inigo Vontier's "Camino A Mordor". Arguably even better is the deliciously camp stomp of "Palo Oscurito" by Roman & Castro, and the sludgy, mid-tempo pulse of Tronik Youth's standout "The Machines Are Coming".

Review: We are always keen to hear anything new on Night Noise - the Amsterdam/Geneva based imprint that pursues new directions in noirish electro/disco pop. Fans of Nein, Days Of Being Wild or Roam Recordings - look no further! The label's new thriller comes courtesy of Parisian Michal Dabrowski aka Must See, who delivers some 'new' new-romantic seduction on the tres chic "Crocodile Tears". This is followed by a lo-slung/punk-funk rendition by Mexico's Inigo Vontier, as well as a retro dreamwave rework by AWITW. "Waste Of Time" sounds rather reminiscent of early Benny Benassi or Whirlpool Productions - which was cool - but we preferred Andrew Claristidge's bouncy remix.
