Review: Oh gosh! Every Welcome To The Jungle collection is a big deal but this latest edition from Euphonique and Dazee is a whole other rain forest. 96 tracks and a mix that weighs in over two hours, this is the sound of two of the most foremost and inspiring Bristol-based DJs going IN in every single direction. Loaded with a great range of classics, exclusives and left-of-centre vibes, highlights across this massive collection include Aries and Euphonique's massive 'Amen', Dazee & Jinx's 'Shake It Up', Sweetpea and Chickaboo's 'The Jump Off' and the recent skat-dancing fire-up 'Skip De Du Dat'. And that's not scratching the surface. This is an epic collection. Essential.
Review: Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX marks the second electrifying compilation from Eskimo Recordings, masterfully curated by Berlin-based musician and DJ Luca Venezia, aka Curses. Spanning some 50 tracks - this extensive collection weaves a captivating narrative connecting the dots between industrial pioneers like Throbbing Gristle, EBM legends Nitzer Ebb, and the post-punk experimentation of Malcolm McLaren or Big Audio Dynamite, all the while introducing us to contemporary talents such as Boy Harsher, Nuovo Testamento, and Years of Denial. With direct inspirations coming from personal voyages through Luca Venezia's record collection during lockdown - DEUX transports us through a hazy, pulsating clubland from yesteryear where a sonic journey pulls together other talent like The KVB, Jennifer Touch, Kris Baha and a selections of Curses own remixes and revamps.
Review: Remix alert! Maduk returns to his 2021 album Transformations with a bunch of peers, kindred spirits and inspiring new-gen talents for this full strength remix collection. 18 tracks in total - featuring the likes of Fred V, Boxplot, Smooth, Kove, Etherwood, Feint, S.P.Y and so many more high grade names - the full scope and range of D&B is showcased here as we fly from stunning dreamy dancefloor bliss to all-out tear-up stompy sounds and back again. Capturing the Liquicity spirit while remaining fully open-armed and inclusive, this is both a great reflection of Maduk, his label and where mainstream D&B is at right now.
