Review: For us, an album has to be a real representation of where a musician is at during the time he was making it, and we can safely say that 'Landscapes & Dimensions' does just that for Aeron Aether. With intensely beautiful melodies and stunning harmonics featuring prominently from start to finish, it's a fantastic listen and shows real musical maturity. One of our picks for the highlight would be 'The Story Goes' which breathes emotional energy amidst awesome soundscaping and melody driven half time rhythms. Another would be the quite frankly incredible harmonies of the drumless 'Syntharsia''which despite having no percussive input moves you with ease. This is a great project and definitely one to listen to start to finish to really absorb its complete energy.

The tracklist reads like a who's who of the breaks, jungle and breakbeat garage scene, with stalwarts Ellis Dee, I.D, High Rankin and DJ Twista joined by a welter of lesser-known artists (601, Aries, Gella) for an all-out assault on the senses. They have gone back over their work and picked out some of their favourites over the years - a whopping 18 tracks, 19 remixes and a continuous mix by Harris. Speaking of the remixes: the Dumont & Wagener remix of "Human Love" gets onto an emotive and Balearic tinged trip, the remix of "Electric Love" by NYC house hero Eli Escobar remix gets well funky, and the always impressive Parisian Fred Falke delivers a typically neon-lit rendition of "Emma" from several years back. Review: It would be fair to say that Studio K7 has pulled off something of a coup in getting Kenny Dixon Jr. to agree to compile and mix the latest installment in the long-running DJ Kicks series. It is, somewhat remarkably, the legendary Detroiter's first commercially available mix set. This triple-vinyl edition features a whopping 19 cuts - all in unmixed form - from the 30 track mix. Musically, it's a blazed, jazzy, soulful and groovy as you'd expect, and contains a mixture of downtempo beats, nu-jazz and hazy house cuts from the likes of Flying Lotus, Dopehead, Peter Digital Orchestra, Nightmares On Wax, Soulful Session and Lady Alma.
