Review: Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke and Oren Ambarchi make quite the team when it comes to free-spirited jazz and drone, and this latest head-t-head on Black Truffle is a little piece of class. "Who Is So Cleverly Manipulating The Word Everything" has an Eastern percussive twang to it, but O'Rourke's vocals render it more absurd than pensive. "Be Careful Of This Word New With Its Glittering Trap" is a bold-faced noise tune with all the trimmings; "The Universe Is Tired Please For Just One Second Stop Thinking" adds a mechanical drum flex to the noisy surrounding flying overhead; finally, "That ? Squatting Proudly At The Edge Of Surface Tension Is It Perhaps A" heads down a murkier, more contained territory that strikes a fine chord with us. Delightfully mad.

Review: Whenever Spanish nu-disco label Groove Democracy realise its soul o'clock, they know who to call. Well, the clock has struck and Sharp Soul has been hauled in again for another round of slick disco edits and boy do they get the job done. There's four belters here, highlights of which include a killer extended version of Executive's 1984 synth-soul classic "Celebrate (Your Love)", the even more electronic funk of "I Need You" and a frankly bonkers rubber bass-fuelled cover of The Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want". Bueno!

Review: Digital 6 are coming out with a really unique EP from 6BLOCC, who has taken it upon himelf to give Jay Z the bootleg treatment across six different tracks, all of them classics like New York State of Mind and 99 Problemz. The former of those is a real highlight of the EP, with those eminently recognisable piano chords floating out across the top of some naughty breaks and Jay Z's famous rapping skills. It's a slick release and one that will definitely please any of you hip-hop heads.
