Review: Brighton producer Whyrez makes his debut for the influential and dedicated future garage label L2S with the Six In The Morning EP, led by the tight yet hazy 2-step of the title tune. With vocalist Abi Flynn flowing over some delicate percussion and sinuous synth leads, its a real belter, as is "Feel My Heartbeat" which aims itself straight at the floor and "Let It Go" which matches Funkystepz' colourful collision of beats and sounds and goes one better by adding a tasty vocal on top.
Review: Hot on the heels of his well received Night Vision EP on Yam Who's Midnight Riot label, electrofunk-obsessed edits fiend Danny Worrall returns to Ruben & Ra's Retrospective imprint with the second installment of his Back To The 80s series. Those familiar with his particular blend of '80s nostalgia should know what to expect, namely tweaked but fairly faithful reworks of well-known cuts and underground classics. As usual, there's plenty of solid dancefloor material on show, from the teasing build-ups, rousing horns and jumpy synths of "Don't Let Go" and stretched-out '80s soul fun of "Baby Love", to the singalong disco rush of "Wear It Out".
Review: It's time to take the acid-breaks fusion to a whole new level here as DAWL lands on Craigie Knowes for four tracks of electronic mastery, kicking off with the moogy arpeggios and crunchy breakbeat drumwork of 'Let's Go'. Following this we then move into the more nostalgic padwork and rolling percussive switchups of 'Drop It', before we head down a super old-school road on the bubbling bass tones of 'Heavyweight'. Finally we finish this one up with a dash of additional spice as 'Overdub' wades into view, slowing the tempo into a more timedancey episode, driven by it's unusual percussive expanses and acidic synth patterns.

Review: Now based in Boston, Massachussetts, British producer Ben Adams AKA GMGN (the name stands for 'good morning, good night') serves up five solid tracks for Midnight Riot, most of which have something of a late 90s/early 00s filter disco feel. 'That Feelin'' centres around a fluttering six-string riff, 'You Are My Love' foregrounds a female vocal sample, 'Let It Go' is a deeper, funkier groove, 'I'm The One' loops up AOR-ish samples in a Balearic kinda way and then finally 'Train To Love' is a slower, chuggier cut that brings the EP to a hazy, looping close.
