Review: With the 2016 Ibiza summer season in full swing, Dave 'Joey Negro' Lee has gathered together a bumper collection of label tracks that are currently doing the business on the White Isle. There are few surprises amongst the 28 selections - think swinging piano-house, soulful grooves, sun-kissed broken beat, contemporary disco reworks and synth-heavy boogie-house - but the quality threshold remains remarkably high throughout. Highlights include Lee's glistening 2016 re-rub of his vintage Doug Willis anthem "Spread Love", a deliciously loose and synth-laden Fouk rework of The Sunburst Band, the bad-ass boogie business of Spirit Catcher's "Rendez-Vous", and a killer 1995 rework of Fonda Rae's "Over Like A Fat Rat" from U.S house legend Victor Simonelli.

Review: Having already released music on many of the nu-disco scene's most popular labels (Kolour, Midnight Riot, Masterworks Music and Giant Cuts included), Lux Experience is well established as a producer on the rise. Here the Norwegian adds another label to his bulging CV, popping up on Vier Deep Digital with some serious "Solar Funk". He first sets his stall out via the Dam Funk style synth-funk strut of "I Like It", before exploring talkbox-sporting Bootsy's Rubber Band territory on P-funk wriggler "I Wanna Do You". The same raw, analogue sounding synthesizer sound can be found at the heart of the slower "What You Want", while "Jammin" is ridiculously funky, hard-hitting and dancefloor-friendly. "Party Up In Here", a skewed but brilliant Parliament/Funkadelic tribute, is also well worth a listen.

Review: It has been quite a year for the Toolroom institution. Celebrating their 15th birthday last year, they weren't ones to rest on their laurels, instead going full steam ahead with a bunch of genre defining compilations this year. Review: Just in time for ADE, Toolroom drops this comprehensive compilation. Fans of the long-running label will find much to love here. Good-time disco comes courtesy of KC Lights & Lapsley's infectious "Better Times" and Ejeca's joyous, sample-heavy "In & Out". The minimal end of the house spectrum is also well-served; there's the woozy break downs and builds of Martin Ikin's driving "Oscill8" and Essel's deconstructed rhythm on "Lennon". Amsterdam 2023 also serves up some irresistible, old-school selections. Pirate Copy's "Love Will Save the Day" is an intense, hardcore-sampling house track. Meanwhile on "I Just Wanna", Local Singles meld skipping garage beats with an urgent vocal and insistent siren riffs.
