Review: DJ Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle slams straight into 2022 with another blazing collection of past releases, all curated and packaged together with the super sick stylings of one of 2021's runaway DJ success stories - Frenetic. Renown for her crucial three-deck blends and premium energy, she's the perfect match for the label's megamix as there are so many wounders and blinders to get through. If you know the label's output you'll already know this but just in case you're new to this Deep In The Jungle malarky, expect nothing but premium modern day breakbeat badness. Highlights include RMS's purring 'Streaks & Blurs', Toby Ross's mischievous '170 Style', Charlie B's 'Rave Up' and DJ Hybrid's tongue in cheek skank-out 'The Last Bumbaclaat'. Anthemic.

Review: Man Power follows last year's inaugural Bed Wetter album with another introspective work focused on ambient and drone-led compositions. There's a neo-classical tinge to the melancholic "Calm (The Routine Safety Of Patterns)", while on "Gratitude (Again For The "First Time)", sonorous synths ebb and flow majestically. There is a more serene feeling on "Patience (A Life In The Day)", thanks to its combination of understated horns and ambient washes. Despite following a slower pace, at times this is also a deeply unsettling work; the darker side of the human psyche is audible on the jarring "Confusion (Pulling At A Thread)", the psychologist's couch conversation samples of "Paranoia (Different)" and the chilling, layered "Depression (The Loop)". It's a difficult but compelling listen.

With classic ranging from well known such as "Incredible" and "Pulp Fiction" to cult such as "Keep It Raw" and "Gangsters" and upfront jams flexing from all the right names (Serum, Aries, Serial Killaz, Drumsound & Bassline Smith), Blackmarket has absolutely smashed this out of the mark.
