Review: Electro-house producer Malente's album, Rip It Up, dropped a whole ten years ago. To mark this milestone we now have an anniversary edition that boasts a whopping 26 tracks (including remixes and extended versions). Highlights include the slick electro-disco of "Natural High (Mass Digital mix)", the warped dirty house of "Til I Die (U Know & The Drill mix)", the ravey fidget house of "Mash Up The Town (Teenage Mutants mix)" and Malente's own electro stomp-a-long "What You Got".
Review: It's hard to believe that it's been ten years since Malente's album No Risk No Funk was released, its mixture of party funk, electro basslines and French touch synth production (see "Natural High" and "Fire" for prime examples) pre-empting much of the electro boom later in the decade. Since then he's released on Southern Fried, Dim Mak and Fool's Gold Records, so it's only fitting that his debut album should see a tenth anniversary re-release, featuring all the original tracks, as well as extended versions, ready to introduce his music to a new generation.
