Review: Perc Trax Ltd is a sub-division of Perc Trax which will focus on collaborations, reissues and one-off specials. Last year the climbing melodies and peaking acidics of Mat t Whitehead's "A Is For Acid" became a London underground hit, championed by Perc and Truss, aka MPIA3, with Blawan also unleashing it in a Boiler Room set. Whitehead's original mix does not appear on this inaugural Perc Trax Ltd release, but there are no less than two Perc reworks - one of which should come with a warp drive warning attached - and a slamming cover version made by MPIA3 using none of the track's original samples.

Review: Jerome Hill's resolutely non fashionable Don't Recordings imprint may have taken some twelve years to reach its 20th release, but they do it with typical style on a double headed EP that manages to glance both backwards and forwards. Regarded as a major influence on the label, the presence of Planet Mu regular Neil Landstrumm is no less than a coup, and the Scottish producer elects to do something special, reworking two classic techno tracks from Blake Baxter and Joey Beltram. Programmed entirely from scratch without a hint of a sample, both "Brutality" and "Energy Cash" are uncompromisingly brilliant in their execution. Rebel Intelligence main man Matt Whitehead is on equally unflinching form with his two contributions "To The Beat" and "A Is For Acid" - both of them all too potent rave filled 303 explorations miles away from what Legowelt referred to as "boring contemporary shit they call techno nowadays".

Review: The retroverts at Super Rhythm Trax return with yet more acid madness courtesy of Matt Whitehead; he of Rebel Intelligence and Model Citizens fame. It's a pretty straight up affair on the Bombing EP, where opening cut "Crosstalk" batters you with 909 snare attacks and the hypnotic funk of 303 acid squelch. "Seeing Red" is a much more tunnelling affair where that little silver Roland box again does most of the talking. The title track is one of the real highlights; this sleazy and bombastic electro-funk number is reminiscent of Jimmy Edgar's finer moments until "Birdland" hammers the message home in style with yet more vintage flair and those early rave style steel drum presets in full effect.
