Review: The mighty Maya Jane Coles is in formidable form on her latest EP, which is aimed fair and square at sweat-soaked peak-time dancefloors. For proof, look no further than opener 'In2U', a sub-heavy, tech-tinged chunk of funk-fuelled house laden with ghostly lead lines, gut-bothering bass and cut-up vocal snippets. Coles opts for a more late-night, garage-tinged deep house flex on vocal number 'All These Thoughts' (featuring Kid Enigma on the mic), before joining forces with singer Ed Critchley on the emotive and dreamy club cut 'Haunted By Our Love'. Elsewhere, 'Closer' features rumbling bass, crunchy drums and opioid electronic textures, while 'Never Asked For Much (featuring Chelou)' is a slow and immersive slab of future R&B/modern soul.
