Other Skies (Tambores En Benirras remix) - (5:02) 92 BPM
Other Skies (Balearic Ultras remix) - (9:00) 92 BPM
Review: Some brilliant business for self-styled "Balearic silverbacks" here, as producer Jesse Fahnestock joins forces with singer-songwriter Emilia Harmony as Electric Blue Vision. Drifting along at a head-nodding 92BPM, 'Other Skies' is an immersive and dreamy slab of sunrise pop rin in effects-laden vocals, glistening guitars, hazy chords and warming bass. It comes with a trio of terrific remixes: a properly dubby and effects-heavy Hardway Brothers take that recalls the work of Andrew Weatherall circa 1990, a gently throbbing, mind-mangling take courtesy of NuNorthern Soul sorts Tambores En Benirras, and a Balearic Ultras revision that re-imagines the track as a nine-minute chunk of slow-motion dub house haziness.

Review: Liondub's Street Series is one of the longest running and best introductory series' in the business, pulling through some lesser known talent on an almost monthly basis with condense yet expansive collections of music. This time it's the turn of Higher Sector, who lays down the gauntlet from the outset with 'Kill A Rat' - a huge jungle number with towering high points that tumble down into jarringly cool low points. It's a bit of a ballad to be honest. 'Forces' feat. Sam Harris is the other highlight, a pummelling roller with a wobbling sub and deliciously satisfying percussive snaps. Lovely stuff.

Sun Electric - "Every Now & Then" - (8:05) 136 BPM
Higher Intelligence Agency - "Shift" - (6:41) 128 BPM
Deepchord - "Garden" - (10:45) 125 BPM Hot
Review: Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the De:tuned label digs deep into the world of 90s ambient to mark the occasion with three sublime cuts. "Every Now And Then", courtesy of Thomas Fehlmann's Sun Electric project, is a wispy, ethereal affair, while on "Shift", the brilliant - and often overlooked - Higher Intelligence Agency deliver a glorious slice of acid-soaked electro. It's the kind of track that inspired the current penchant for the glitchy end of electronic music. However, the real highlight here is Deepchord's "Garden". Led by breathy, textured synths and a gentle, rolling groove, it's the definition of deep music for the head and feet.

Review: Higher Love Recordings enlists a global array of talents to completely reimagine Jazxing's Pearls Of The Baltic Sea LP, and the results are nothing short of spectacular. From Brooklyn-based Italian Danilo Braca's epic 12-minute transformation of "Fala" to Polotronic's hi-energy reimagining of "W Uscisku" that channels '80s synth-pop - this remix compilation is a sonic journey filled with diverse and reimagined material. Further in, James Bright's remake of "Artifacts" delivers a stripped-back, electronic stomp, while Andres y Xavi's take on "Hyacinth" creates a hazy sunrise atmosphere with acoustic guitar and fragile folk vocals. Das Komplex, Janka, and Balearic Ultras further contribute to compilation with each their own unique interpretation, while Nottingham's Is It Balearic? crew, Coyote, concludes the comp with an organic, percussive campfire groove in their remix of "Vijnana".

Review: Timm Sure and Richard 'Ampo' Hampso are Coyote - a deuce of eclectic house music veterans with a love for dub. For this release they team up with Brighton's Higher Love Recordings Weatherall-esque EP. "After All These Years" opens the journey with a some trip-hop-infused skank, featuring Matthew McConaughey's samples from True Detective while "Blowing Through" borrows a poem from Charles Bukowski, effortlessly blending it with bucolic electronic beats and soaring indie-guitar jangles, conjuring a wistful summer vibe. "I Hear A New World" immerses listeners in a grainy, ambient wonderland of ethereal emissions and harmonic hums, while "Next Morning Version" combines orchestral elements with cathartic drumming, creating an emotive fusion of dub, Balearic, and nu-classical sounds.

Review: The summer of rave has landed and Demuja is here with Higher Places, a producer found on imprints like Skylax Classic, Shall Not Fade, Freerange and more. For his Aus Music debut he brings back a familiar rave motif to a banging new rendition of drums in "Work My Body". Next is a deeper, liquid club cut that is "Deep Inside Your Soul" with its classic pano effect while Demuja pays house music homage with "That Piano Track" - obviously. Closing the EP is a collaborative number with Kolter called "Bonzai" that's peppered with a techier and minimal sound, let's say from that Higher Place.

Juno's Dream (Gold Suite remix) - (6:48) 114 BPM
Review: Fresh from much admired releases on Sirsounds and Music For Dreams, Ibiza-based Italians Luca Averna and Ale Doretto bring their Residentes Balearicos project to Higher Love Recordings for the very first time. There two original tracks to choose from, each of which comes backed with an equally as inspired remix. 'DC110' is a drowsy, synth-heavy Balearic nu-disco number that bubbles along at a shade over 100 BPM, with plenty of nods towards the stuttering machine drums of proto-house and mid-to-late '80s European synth pop. James Bright delivers a dreamier and even more gorgeous rework, before the duo returns with 'Juno's Dream', a curiously swung slab of mid-tempo deep house colour. A slicker and more hypnotic deep tech-house take from Gold Suite completes a rock-solid package.

Review: Shabba D, Endo, Swifta all on one record on a brand new label from Shabba Dan himself? This is too much for our frazzled socially distanced brains to handle! All three MCs on fire throughout as they lift us up to those old levels we took for granted. Sharp bars, a hooky Macky G / Phantasy style riffy production and good vibes running throughout. Something tells us Shabba's going to take us higher and higher with this new platform. Not all heroes wear capes.

Review: It would be fair to say that Leonidas Deejay has breathed new life into his Alien Disco Sugar project this year. The alias was dormant for two years, but since he dusted it down in May, the London-based Greek producer has offered up a flurry of rather good EPs. There's naturally plenty to get the blood pumping on his latest four-tracker, from the beefed-up, string-laden disco-house release of lead cut "Love Affair" - a suitably celebratory, synth bass-fuelled vocal romp that's available in Radio Edit and Extended Mix forms - to the chunkier, subtly tooled-up disco-funkiness of "Pick It Up & Get Higher", and the Clavinet-sporting, horn-heavy chug of arpeggio-driven closing cut "Saturday Night Boogie".

Review: Lorenz Rhode and Dam Swindle's Lars Dale have joined forces to create Sound Support, a brand new collaborative project. Their debut release is a must-have for house music enthusiasts, featuring an impressive collection of peak-time ready tracks that will get you moving. The title track, 'Higher,' seamlessly blends chunky disco-house loops with warm, jazzy-funk flavors, reminiscent of the Sound Stream era. 'Bump Into You' is a stirring disco-house anthem with an epic string arrangement that's just waiting to take center stage. 'Work 2 It' offers a nostalgic, bassline-driven, warehouse-ready track that will transport you back in time. 'The Rock' rounds off the release with a fusion of boogie synths, electro-funk basslines, deep house chords, and rolling drums.

Review: As one of the co-heads for Cologne based Kompakt, city native Michael Mayer has helped to curate their distinct sound aesthetic for over two decades and is equally revered behind the decks for his epic and masterful sonic narratives. Mayer returns to his beloved imprint for a new offering entitled "Higher" which is his first original contribution to the label in eight years. This is a playful and uplifting tune with an old school aesthetic. Taking its cues from his humble beginnings in Italo disco and early 90's US deep house, it is a future classic if we do say so ourselves. This is followed by the moody "Doot Doot" led by its hypnotic jacked vocal, and lastly the brooding dancefloor drama of "Take A Stand For Love" with its roaring Reese bassline tearing through the speakers.

Higher (Benji Candelario Thump Mix)
Higher - (6:33) 124 BPM
Review: American house/garage legend Benji Candelario returns with his new single "Higher" (Benji Candelario Thump Mix), a deep and slinky tech house number with a truly bumping bass, euphoric arpeggios and head rush inducing atmospherics. All off course optimised for maximum dancefloor drama. To top it all off, it also features some awe inspiring vocal work by Arnold Jarvis and Nina Lares. Expect to hear this detonating a dancefloor near you soon. To quote his bio "Candelarios signature soulful house/garage/tech sound is the embodiment of his Manhattan upbringing during the culturally vibrant late 70s and 80s" in addition to cutting his teeth at the legendary Shakedown Studios. We're glad to see the return of such a legend.

Review: With festivals announced to be well and truly back this summer, we are expecting a heavyweight run of releases from the CruCast team, who seem to have made themselves a festival mainstage act over the course of the last few years. This latest display of dancefloor-ready bass music comes from Mikey B, who kicks off with a wicked vocal-LFO combination on the title track 'Higher', followed by the more niche-inspired bass melodies and stripped back drum arrangements of 'Take Me Somewhere'. Next, we explore some more experimental rhythmic approaches as the lively drum arrangements and scattered LFO's of 'Hold Me' lay the perfect foundation for some more fabulous vocal sampling, before the D&B arrangements and catchy singalongs of 'Never Gonna Give You Up' round us off in style. It's an EP built for the big stages for certain!

Higher - (5:16) 120 BPM
Review: Known mostly for releases on Spa In Disco, here Spanish producer Alex Arcocha comes to Rayko's Rare Wiri imprint with a track that you can file under 'nu-disco' or 'disco-house' as you see fit. In its Original form, 'Higher' has something of the surging, pulsing feel of Balearic prog, a throbbing Italo-esque bassline underpinning euphoric synths as the uncredited female vocalist informs us that "your love keeps lifting me higher". The remix from Croatia's Ilya Santana doesn't flip the script too much, but has a druggier, more spangly feel that puts this rub more firmly in the nu-disco camp

Higher Palms (Young Montana? remix) - (5:06) Hot
Review: Hailing from Brooklyn, My Best Fiend aren't the first New York band to sig to esteemed label Warp - their friends The Hundred In The Hands are the most recent - but they do inhabit a hazy, dreamlike world of their own. "Higher Palms" serves as a taster for their forthcoming album. The track has echoes of US folk and country, but set in the kind of twilight gothic space the Cocteau Twins inhabit, with the scale of classic shoegaze. A remix is provided by highly touted beatsmith Young Montana, who transforms the track into a spiralling combination of Boards of Canada style melodies and beats that wouldn't be out of place on a Brainfeeder record.

Review: T & Sugah are on fire! This Dutch duo is one of the most promising acts on the Liquicity roster and this first release of the year tells us why. Liquid dance floor vibes are the order of the day right from the start after an epic build up and already the summer sounds are pouring in through "Higher". "What Will It Take" on the other hand is the hard-rolling B-side and it's another side to the pair's dancefloor creativity. As a final signoff, LAOS remix "Green Valleys" making it smoother and more beautiful than ever before. Keep your eyes on these guys.

Review: Dextro follows up his Porno Playground debut for Suara from earlier this year with another storming release. "Fantasy" is a superb big room track, with wild sirens and firing percussion unfolding over a pounding drum pattern. "Refrase" is based on a similar premise; on this occasion, Dextro drops a more pulsating groove, ominous horns and ponderous vocals that add to the track's nocturnal feeling. He opts for a visceral approach with "Get Freak" - its rough kicks and pile-driving acid coming across like a modern take on Richie Hawtin's Probe material - while the title track is a heads-down, metallic roller that has echoes of Sandwell District.

The title track sets the tone for the EP, with the label boss combining wild rave stabs with a breakneck paced rhythm and glitchy percussive bursts. while "Wait A Minute" sees him combine hardcore riffs with a mixture of intense kicks and rolling breaks. Asquith integrates wild tonal sequences with militaristic percussion to create an intense piece of high-octane techno on "Escape Hatch (Running mix)", while "Bergamot (Scent mix)" is a more straightforward, heads-down banger that builds to the sound of grinding, gritty riffs.

Review: Mac N Dan released a series of well-received EPs on Autektone last year, and now return with another dynamic three-tracker for the label. "Take You Higher" is based on tough kicks and draws on epic synth builds and rolling snares to create a huge, old-school referencing track. On "Can You Feel It", the Northern Irish duo opt for a similar approach: deploying concrete weight drums, they pepper the arrangement with rave stabs and innocent-sounding vocal samples to create a euphoric effect. "Belmont Stomp" follows in a similar vein, and on this occasion, their pounding kicks underpin hardcore bass and epic builds, leading to a slightly more ominous rave-tinged finale.

Review: Man of the moment Andy Buchan is back in action, transferring from Citizens of Vice to up-start imprint Hot Gorilla in order to release one of his strongest cuts to date. In its original form, "Higher" is a deliciously bouncy, sun-soaked and thrillingly positive affair. It sees Buchan pepper a baggy and bouncy Balearic disco groove with arms-raised old school piano stabs, colourful synth doodles and a handful of short vocal samples. It's undoubtedly celebratory, as are the accompanying remixes. Pal Conan The Selector brilliantly re-imagines "Higher" as a sweaty fusion of rolling disco house and low-slung, sax-sporting funk, while Fingerman explores similar sonic territory before re-tooling the track as a piano-heavy rave roller in its latter stages.

Review: Said to be inspired by science-fiction writer Ursula K. Le Guin - Alberta Balsam presents her debut album Higher Dreams for Dekmantel. A narrative-based listening session also designed for the dancefloor, the LP tells the story of a quest for survival and a planet ravaged by ecological collapse and environmental apocalypse. With that said, this is by far a draconian listen of gothic doom and swathes of cheap reverb - but a colourful and melodic session of pumping synth-music and electro references taking both Drexciya and Delia Derbyshire. Get your kicks from "Atuan Tombs", "Metanoia" and "Cascade" next to Alberta Balsam's own vocals in the title track and some hardcroe Detroit flair in "Suspended In The Manifold". A deep and beautiful debut that should be enjoyed and explored in its entirety.

Matt Prehn & Griffin - "Tak Me Higher" - (6:24) 123 BPM
Matt Prehn & Marcus Zuercher - "Hot In Chicago" - (6:43) 120 BPM
Review: Despite making his mark via a selection of rock solid solo salvos, many of Matt Prehn's strongest releases have been made in collaboration with guest vocalists and co-producers. He's at it again here on his first outing of 2019. The EP's lead cut, "Take Me Higher", features regular studio buddy Griffin, who provides a wonderfully positive vocal that matches the cheery intent of Prehn's bumping deep house beats, toasty chords, sunny melodies and rich disco bass. Studioheist provides a slightly bolder, chunkier revision built around tasty analogue bass and smoky vocal samples, before Prehn and Marcus Zuerercher pepper a hypnotic, bass-heavy groove with fluttering pads, jazzy guitar riffs and classic vocal samples on drowsy bonus cut "Hot In Chicago".

Higher Feel
Higher Feel (original mix) - (7:14) 124 BPM Hot
Higher Feel (dub) - (7:14) 124 BPM
Review: Consistent's second release on Shir Khan's Exploited label sees him again share the same platform as respected producers like Adam Sky and Siriusmo - and like the first release, he doesn't fail to impresses. "Feel" is an insistent rolling techno track that appears to focus on dub-fuelled repetition - however, it unexpectedly veers into a disco-fuelled breakdown and from then onwards remains a filter-fuelled club track. There is nonetheless an alternative dub version, and it is this mix that fans of Basic Channel and Chain Reaction will reach for. Its repetitive dubby groove and deep stabs are reminiscent of Pelon's classic "No Stunts", albeit infused with a sunnier, more upbeat feeling.

Review: On this hot-to-trot three-tracker, Tensnake welcomes a couple of new names to the True Romance family, namely Dutch duo T.U.R.F and Australian rising star Sondrio. The threesome hit the ground running with title track 'Higher', a classy disco-house number that sees them wrap a wonderfully organic-sounding, percussively detailed house groove in Soundstream style filtered disco strings and their own twinkling electric piano solos. The disco-fired fun continues on 'Seeing Stars', where rubbery bass guitar, short male vocal samples, swirling disco textures and echo-laden horns catch the ear, before they opt for a quirker, chunkier and more sparsely arranged sound on killer closing cut 'Get It Right'. Serviceable, high-quality club cuts: what's not to like?

Higher Than High (dub mix) - (5:56) 122 BPM
Review: One for the lovers of more "trad-style" deep house here, as Norway's Lux Experience comes with an understated little groover that could have been made at any point in the past 25-plus years - in a good way. 'Higher Than High' opens with a crisp drum loop and some barely-there keys before a surging synth-bass riff, vocal snips and brass stabs arrive, after which the track rolls and lollops its way along for another five minutes, topped with some wigged-out synth doodles with a vaguely Funkadelic/Zapp-ish feel. The accompanying Dub dispenses with the vocal elements; either will keep deep house floors moving for sure.

Review: Someone fetch this man a ladder! Jedi needs to get higher and he's paying us in absolute fire tunes. One of his most generous EPs in quite some time, over six tracks the artist spreads his wings across the spectrum; 'Lay You Out' is Program-style bubbler with a fine balance of emotion and grit, the mischievously-titled 'Piss On Your Ashes' is a hurricane of jump-up grizzles and growls while the title track rips up the dance like some turn-of-the-century D*Minds Bristol effort. And that's only 50% of the rawness on display here. Bun the ladder, this man deserves a cherry picker.

Review: About three years ago, Australian disco wizard Rocco Raimundo had an unstoppable run of top-notch re-edits until that is, he stopped. He's been relatively quiet since then, but now he's back with a bang on ISM. "Higher Love" in its original form, is pristine, funked-up soul-pop. Remix-wise Earl Grey delivers an enthralling FM synth-washed dream-mix, Yam Who? turns in a housed-up grinder and Tunnel Signs & Chux deliver a toughened up moodier version.

Review: Serious party vibes abound as El Salvadorian Itchy Bastards add three new funk nuggets to their armoury. "Make Money" takes Busta to trumpet school, "Lemme Talk" looks to Clinton for some world dominance (George, not Bill) and "Roundacorna" is a deeper, jacking affair with a lolloping slap-bass riff and some lovely organ and wukka-wukka guitar twangs on the main hook.

Review: Higher Forces At Workfeatures the same kind of steady but deep take on the Dance Mania template by Marquis Hawkes as previously seen on his first release, "Higher Forces" kicks off with some simmering vocals, spring loaded metallic percussion and thick analog stabs, while "Automatic" provides a strung out basement jam whose elastic synth bass and finely chopped samples offer a fresh take on the well worn formula of low-slung disco. "I Want You" offers more shimmering disco deconstruction pushed forward by a raw, stripped back house beat and a savage bass undercarriage, while closer "Divine Intervention" pairs flanged percussion and a deep acid bassline gently interleaved with sun kissed pads. If Tiger & Woods and Parris Mitchell collaborated, the end result might sound something like this EP - which is no bad thing.

Review: Next up from Able, a spicy new two track display coming to us courtesy of Vihara, within which we explore a number of nostalgic garage themes and broken-beat designs, kicking off with the vibrant arrangements of 'Higher'. Despite it's garage-sentric introduction, this one explodes into a colourful display of steppers' vibrancy, chopping together pitched down vocal slices and 2-steppy drum inclusions for a fabulously futuristic display. On the flip, 'Arena' jumps into a much more grizzly display from the jump, with ominous pad textures and engulfing sub swings, driven forward by shimmering shaker sweeps and percussive melodies throughout. Lovely work!

Review: This big disco release sees Portuguese duo Cisco Cisco return to Apersonal Music, complete with a remix from the legendary Greg Wilson. "Higher" is a slow moving number with a classic feel, but it's the jagged guitar samples that give the whole thing its jerky energy. The Greg Wilson version of "Higher" will go down well with many, taking the pushing the guitars to the back of the mix, and replacing their jumpy movement with some staccato rap samples, placed firmly in the foreground. It shouldn't work, but in Wilson's hands it does, adding an incredible new mood to the track. "Brothers in Arms" treads similarly deep ground with its cowbell led rhythm and snipped yet ecstatic vocal samples. This digital version also features a remix not on the vinyl pressing, which is perhaps the best track on the release. Kaspar & Vahagn remix "Brothers in Arms", adding a slightly techier element with a buzzing arpeggio running throughout and squelchy bassline that runs underneath layers of electrifying pads.

Review: Ludovic Llorca is clearly a man on a mission. Having largely disappeared from view for a couple of years, this is amazingly his third Art of Tones release in as many weeks. It's also arguably the strongest of the trio. "Take Me Higher" is a soulful, energetic and effortlessly groovy fusion on gospel, classic US deep house and contemporary British bass bottom-end. It's one of those tunes that's nigh on impossible to dislike. "Damped", a foray into fluid, late night deepness, is almost as good. The good news is that there are tons of Dubs and remixes to get stuck into, too, with Lauer's deliciously old skool, but lovingly fluid "Bert Remix" being the best of the bunch.

The first Burek release of 2016 brings the focus back to a production hero of Croatia in the always excellent Ilija Rudman. Active for well over a decade, Rudman's Burek debut is disco flecked- house music at its slick and effervescent best, with the slinky, low tempo vibe of A-side hogger "Higher Ground" complemented by a pair of collaborations with US house music royalty Boyd Jarvis.

Review: Glasgow outfit Invisible Inc's latest release comes from Los Angeles' Secret Circuit, a producer whose trippy, loved-up and decidedly colourful compositions have previously graced such labels as Emotional Response, Beats In Space and Stones Throw. The four tracks showcased here are typically diverse; contrast, for example, the reverb and delay-heavy ambient house shuffle of "Gothic Rainbow", with the twinkling pianos and cascading jazz guitars of Balearic closer "Memory Melt". Best of all, though, is up-tempo number "Rhythmatic Generator", which effortless blends elements of psychedelia, intelligent techno, ambient and dub disco into a spiraling, out-there anthem.

The Higher EP is his latest missive from the disco frontline and the news is that there's a total firefight on the dancefloor. There's four slices of prime funk here, and our favourites include the bubbly bass squelch of "Let Me Take You Higher", the chromium-plated electro-soul of "Got No Return" and the Gina X rework "I Was Born To Love You".

Review: New from Top Billin', Cincinati's Bawz kills it on this excellent taste of deep and wonked electro madness. Using a sly yet commanding vocal hook from Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five's "White Lines", Bawz constructs an intense acid-throwback bassline around Percolator-style synth stabs and a Dutch-style beat. While Aussie breaks king Nick Thayer gets busy on the bass for his remix - adding a simply filthy distorted bassline - Moombahton king Edo slows things down and adds some trademark climbing, high-pitched synth squeaks.

Review: The first hook-up between Groove Junkies and Scott K, AfriAcid, was something of a success, so it's no surprise to see the two producers join forces once more. "Higher" comes in two forms: the 'Main Mix' and 'Dubstrumental'. The former boasts an Ursula Rucker style spoken word vocal - a poetic piece focusing on artistic inspiration and looking after each other in troubled times - over a simmering, string-laden tech-house groove. The strings, bassline and fizzing tech-house sounds come to the fore on the Dubstrumental, which also includes some sweaty drum machine fills, drawn-out builds, and all manner of dubbed-out vocal snippets

Review: Given that their discography consists of a couple of contributions to compilation-style EPs, you'd be forgiven for being unfamiliar with the work of Rubents. This debut EP for Ondule Recordings should finally put them on the map, though. We found opener "The More I Get", a jacking and energy-packed stomper built around short, sharp electric piano riffs and a relentless bassline, to be particularly arresting (not to mention weighty), though the dreamy Joss Moog edit of electrofunk-inspired deep house roller "Heat Up" (so-called because it re-purposes the bassline from an old Shirley Lites jam) is almost as good. Intriguingly, the EP's other two tunes doff a cap to the high-octane thrills of Chicago juke whilst also utilizing a fine ranged of chopped and screwed vocal samples.

Review: San Francisco native Christopher Smith has a long relationship with Om offshoot Smoke 'N' Mirrors, though this is his first 'proper' single on the label. It's got a slight Futureboogie Recordings feel about it, with Michael Marshall's excellent vocal soaring above a bubbling, 'future disco' influenced, synth-heavy house groove. It's shiny, heavy, hooky and strangely addictive - the epitome of 21st century house. Of the two accompanying remixes, it's predictably the Maxxi Soundsystem rework that hits home hardest. With its warm pads, shuffling grooves and sun-baked vibe, it sounds like it was created with Croatia's Garden Festival in mind.

2 Much Higher (XI remix) - (5:31)
Review: North Carolina duo Clicks & Whistles return on Kastle's Symbols Recordings, trading in the southern hip-hop style of previous releases for high energy footwork. "2 Much Higher" combines chopped up chords, synth flutes and tumbling snares in a 150BPM package with a murky and mangled vocal, while "Hightower" repeats the formula with a more lush set of synth tools and jazzy melody. "Waiting 4" meanwhile sounds like a lost cut from Machinedrum's Room(s), combining frenetic percussion and a warm sidechained backdrop as contrast to the sirens going off in the background. Finally, Canadian producer XI turns in a moody 2-step tinged house remix of "2 Much Higher", inverting the bright tones of the original into something more greyscale.

Review: Glaswegian "avant-disco" four-piece Amor impressed with their debut release- April's "Paradise" - so hopes are naturally high for this follow-up. They begin with another epic (so far, none of their tracks have been less than 11-minutes long), channeling the spirit of Arthur Russell on the yearning, heart-aching mid-tempo goodness of "Higher Moment", where vintage synth solos, tumbling pianos and an impassioned male vocal stretch out across 12 mesmerizing minutes. They push the tempo up further on the more percussive, near 14-minute flipside, tiptoeing the fine line between peak-time sweatiness and emotion-rich disco melancholia. It's arguably the pick of the two tracks, thanks in no small part to the layered drum hits and dreamy vocals.

Review: After the barnstorming success of his Tape Tekkno LP, My Panda Shall Fly is back, this time on Sonic Router with a solid six track EP that shows a decidedly different side to his musical personality. There's a wistful, star-gazing quality to these tracks as warm and luscious synths and pads wash over the offerings with far more harmonious intentions compared to the relatively jarring experience of the album. It's an ever-moving story though, as best demonstrated on "Ark (Spirit Servant)" which moves between open plains of imaginative tones and dense brush made up of myriad rhythms and pulses. There's a lot of bold brushstrokes that mark out the talent at the core of this project, while leaving the door open for endless future possibilities from the London producer.
