Review: Shall Not Fade's annual birthday compilations are always worth a look, not least because they tend to be packed with plenty of previously unreleased material from label regulars, friends and newcomers. This seventh birthday edition - the label's fifth compilation in total - is another epic, with 28 high quality tracks jostling for your attention. The track listing reflects the label's eclectic but largely dancefloor-focused approach, with highlights including the stomping big room techno darkness of Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot's 'Alpha', the organ-rich New Jersey style peak-time house bump of Lis Sarocca's 'Oasis Floor', the bumpin' speed garage revivalism of 'All The Girls' by Main Phase, the warped, MC-sporting two-step wobble of Killjoy and Kwam's 'Active', and the deep and dreamy breaks/two-step fusion of 'Overcome' by Adam BFD.

Review: The word 'unique' is grave danger of wheezing its last breath these days. Very few things genuinely are 'one of a kind' Especially in dance music. The crazy Italian kids at Slowild, however, are really unique. Taking hardstyle theory to the glitch and moombhaton audience, they've slowed down one of the scariest forms of music to create something really interesting. At points you'll be reaching for the record player to switch the speed up, before realising it's digital and supposed to sound this way. Oozing drama and imagination, this is the best hardstyle album you will ever hear.

Review: No, don't worry, it's not the Ibiza closing party... Ibiza remains open all year and promoters are already organising line-ups for 2013. This is the label boss Joey Negro's personal closing party. And having spun tunes there for well over 20 years, he knows how to select the very best party tracks. No-nonsense funky house business, then. With a strong nod to the bass influence in today's dancefloor patter, too. Cuts like Z Factor's "Sound In The Air" and Spirit Catcher's "Absolute Drop" both reference the old while sounding band up to date with crisp, vibrant production qualities and dominant bottom end. There's plenty of Joey's own material here. Appearing in his many guises expect to find an ace rework of Jakatta's "American Dream", a handful of Doug Willis flavours and a rather fetching Kaytronix remix of Akabu.
