Review: DJ Takeo's Okinawa Delays recently served up "daytime mixes" of their Satoko Ishimine voiced "Lotta Love", a sun-kissed chunk of Balearic pop reminiscent of Carly Simon circa "You're So Vain". Here, they hand over the parts to Psychemagik and Phil Mison, asking them to deliver "Nighttime Mixes" with Balearic dancefloors in mind. The standout is undoubtedly Psychemagik's killer "Dub", a wholehearted tribute to underground 1980s dancefloors that layers heavy percussion hits, select vocal snippets and dreamy chords over brilliantly chopped-up drum machine beats and a mind-altering synthesizer bassline. Mison, meanwhile, opts for a piano-heavy proto-house feel on his unashamedly Balearic dub, channeling the spirit of early Italian house productions and the hot and sweaty dubs of NYC legend Paul Simpson.

Review: More exotic daydream fantasies courtesy of Kenneth Bager & Co. with the third single of Japanese act Okinawa Delays and their a great single 'Lotta Love' feat. Satoko Ishimine. This is a serving of sensual lo-slung balearic soul, in the vein of their debut on Claremont 56 last year. It's a project founded by producer DJ Takeo and they get some right legends in on the remix side of things. Check out house royalty Willie Graf's evocative Beach mix (with Darren Eboli) that's just perfect for watching the sunset at Cafe Mambo, while veteran Phil Mison (Reverso 68/Cantoma) works his usual magic on the Balearic House Mix - which captures the zeitgeist of the island's heyday back in the '80s when the likes of DJ Alfredo and Leo Mas soundtracked a perfect summer.
