Review: Under the DJ Laurel alias, Lavr Berzhanin has proved to be one of Katakana Edits' most reliable re-editors of recent times. We've lost count of the number of EPs he's delivered for the prolific imprint, but they're all rather good - as is his latest expansive effort. There's much to get the blood pumping across the six-track salvo, with our favourites including the rubbery, bouncy and glassy-eyed disco bliss of "All I've Got", the soaring, horn-heavy soundscape disco-soul shuffle of "Battend Ships" [sic], the blue-eyed soul goes drum and bass bounce of "Cookie" and the wah-wah guitar sporting two-step soul goodness of closing cut "Annie Mae". In other words, it's another rock solid collection of tried and tested reworks.

Review: An sporting tale of collaboration, fusion and football: the TNQ All Stars are a collective of key artists from Lenzman's stable The North Quarter such as FD, Satl, Redeyes and Submorphics (to name but a few). Not credited individually and rolling as one unit, vibing off the moment and each other's ideas, each track took seed in an undisclosed location near where football legends Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard first met. Laced with vocals from key TNQ songsmiths Steo and Fox, the end result is a unique but seamless and fluid set that really shines with the label's spirit. Ranging from the sweetest of soul to much darker, driving roll-outs, this is beautiful story from one of the most inspiring labels active in dnb right now.

Review: "MICRODOSING" is a debut album, coming directly from a Poznan native - Lux Familiar. His music could be heard on releases from labels such as Polish Juke and Alkopoligamia. A rare ability of easily finding the way across a variety of musical genres, has enabled the artist to showcase his vast production skills - something the album's title relates to. On "MICRODOSING" we will then find an eclectic mix of modern hip-hop, R&B, footwork and jungle, which have a few things in common. Namely, heavy basslines, hard pounding drum machines and catchy melodies. Although it sounds busy, the disc had space for more soothing, ambient compositions.
