Review: Dustin Zahn returns to Blueprint to deliver a four-tracker that resounds to understated force. "Rotator" is an atmospheric, rolling track. Led by dense, tribal drums and featuring mysterious synth lines, it's a subtle but impactful track. "Conduit of Chaos" is based on a similar premise - although on this occasion, the rhythm is more stripped back and is powered by impactful claps. The pulsating, clanging bass at the heart of "Catharsis" lends it the requisite punch for its flowing groove. The title track is the most up-tempo track on the release - and it sees Zahn deliver a gradually building, vocal-sampling percussive sucker punch.

Review: Coming in smokey from the Flexout Audio collective, another vibrant compilation collection, exploring the more atmospheric end of the UKG spectrum with the second edition of their 'Waves' series. Featuring a wealth of exciting artists, we see the likes of Trail, Relict, GLM, Able, EVOLVED & more arrive with some fabulous feature work, unloading emotive harmonic structures and smooth drum arrangements for a truly ethereal underground experience. Our highlights for this one would of course have to include 'Halo' from Dominus, a smokey slink through crunchy synthetic gargles and metallic drumlines, backed up by the gnarly LFO work of Vektah's 'Rotation Heavy' and the head-low bops of 'Rhythm Choke' from Theoretical, again demonstrating the range of sonic beauty on display here.

Review: Oh gosh! Whether you're massively into Deep In The Jungle but you've got a few holes in your collection that need filling, or you've just started getting into this side of the music, this 60+ anthem collection is an amazing resource for all modern day junglists. Curated by bossman DJ Hybrid, this collection takes us back through the label's history and cherry picks an amazing array of peaktime wounders, bruisers and bubblers. To pick one or two highlights from such a generous collection doesn't feel right so let us advise you to take in that tracklist, press play and totally vibe out to some of the best jungle bangers made in the last 11 years. Mad love to the DITJ crew!

Review: Last spotted on his label taking things super slo-mo, Fracture re-ups to his signature junglistic tempo with an EP that's dedicated to every single one of us... 'All Of The Massive' pays homage to the foundations with rowdy, rolling passion and a nod to the hardcore and acid house style basslines. Full strength all the way the rest of the EP probes all manner of jungle/drum & bass/hardcore extremities... 'What A Rush' is a nod to old school Total Science or Spirit with its spaciousness while 'Selectors On Rotation' hits with another big bassline tear-up this time with full focus on the breaks while 'Graveyard Shot' closes with the most beautiful Good Looking style cosmic stepper vibe. Fracture, we love you.

Review: Holy smokes! Deep In The Jungle is now 10 years old! Huge props to the label bossman - and all-round G - DJ Hybrid who's smashed the label's repertoire and reputation over the years. Just look at the artists who've contributed to the label over the years. Lavery, Sl8r, Hungry T, RMS, Conrad Subs, Epicentre and so many more established jungle talents have all enjoyed a DITJ boost over the years and this massive VA is a reminder of that. 50 cuts from across the last decade, we're not even going to insult the rollcall here picking highlights - this is a huge collection that's essential for anyone looking to stack up on authentic jungle productions and represent one of the coolest, most consistent labels in the jungle dnb world.

Review: San Francisco is most often associated with the cartoon sounds of DirtyBird when it comes to electronic music but Federsen offers up some deliciously deep dub techno here. He joins the Lempuyang stable and brings with him plenty of fine Maurizio influences from the off: 'Rotation' is all grainy pads and lo-fi drum loops, 'Noir' has a more silky and minimal tech house feel and 'Expiravit' brings a classic dub sound. The closing track 'Aeon' is perfect for late night smoking sessions.

Review: Bas Mooy's label brings together an impressive cast of producers for its latest compilation. The ominous bass on Mascon's "Nenner" lends the track an ebm sensibility, while Exium's "Dark Voids" is more in keeping with convention, fuelled by powerful filters and a steely, slamming rhythm. While there are intense contributions - in particular, Antony Doria's "Uprite" is visceral hard techno at its finest - Herdersmat impresses most when contributing artists provide their own interpretations of sub-genres. Takaaki Itoh's "Implement" is a mesmerising piece of hypnotic, droning techno, while on "Hdmt" UVB delivers a compelling version of Downwards' broken beat sound, replete with swirling textures.

Review: DJ Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle has done bits for the new generation of artists coming through since it launched in 2013. Now hitting the big 100, the label is celebrating with a collection of incredible remixes of label classics from some of the best in the game. This first volume sees DJ Hybrid himself tearing up Conrad Subs 'Come Selecta', Toby Ross & Oram getting all steppy and slammy on the bossman's 'Run Dem', Epicentre going well and truly loco on Charlie B's 'Rotation'. Elsewhere Conrad Subs returns the favour on Mrs Magoo & DJ Hybrid's 'Back to 96' with bubblesome results while Charlie B finishes off the EP with a killer twist on 'When It's Time'. What a package... Review: More than most techno producers, Mike Storm is attuned to working in the album format, and his series of releases for Axis is testament to this expertise. Storm's latest long player, issued on Ben Sims' Symbolism imprint, picks up where the body of work for Axis left off; it includes atmospheric pieces such as "Into The New Light" and tribal workouts like "Biological Activity" and "1977 Days" that would sound at home on Jeff Mills' Something in the Sky imprint. Storm also showcases his harder edge here, and the spiky, metallic drums of "No Human World" and the dense, hammering rhythm on "Exo 1606" provide reminders of why techno luminaries like Sims and Mills hold him in such high regard.

Review: On Rotation is a Leeds-based record label headed by Chris I"Anson, Adam Pits & Lisene. This is the first in their Genetic Memories Vol. 1 various artists series. The label has expressed how fortunate they are to work with such amazing producers, and this series serves to show off the talent within their network. Anderson kicks things off with the rolling and hypnotic tech house of "Polymorphic Magic", followed by Jamie Leather who leads things into the peak time on the Rominimal sounds of "Discovery", while Ed Hodge serves up a throwback to the garage days on "Atreides" followed by Phazma who keeps things on a retro tip as well - with the progressive breaks of "Arrakeen".

Review: As one of the most distinctive voices in Detroit techno, whatever the era, it's always an occasion when Terrence Dixon delivers a new album. True to form, this new one for 30D ExoPlanets follows up on a run of previous releases for Angel Molina's label in a supernova of fresh ideas that keep techno truly compelling. Even in the straighter climes of tracks like 'Final Results', there's a sense of space and reduction which challenges the mind rather than giving everything away too easily. No one operates quite like Dixon, and it's on immersive trips like this you realise just what he's capable of.

Review: Megalon was a brilliant but short-lived project that released on labels like Plink Plonk and R&S during the golden era of UK techno (1993-97). Now Above Board has remastered and re-released their sole artist album from 1994 to share the Megalon vision with a new generation. When it comes to techno albums, Pandora's Box has got it all - the title track is a shimmering, reflective affair that dovetails with the work of Nuron and As One from that period, "Machine" sees the duo apply that widescreen sound to a warbling dance floor groove, while the acid-speckled "Systrem" resounds to a dark bass and cold percussion. Most impressive though is the depth and complexity of sound throughout Pandora'a Box - qualities that continue to resonate nearly 30 years later.

Review: Once again we are thrilled to return to the legendary 877 Records, a Brighton based label who have played such an integral part in the growth and establishment of UK bass music over the years. This time around they welcome Deech inside for a post-funky shackout, kicking off with the unique rhythmic designs and unpredictable percussive manoeuvres of 'Cuts', giving the EP a lively intro. Next, 'New Tool' gives us a pulsating roller of an original, focusing again on bulbous percussive stabs for an interesting sonic experience, before 'Rotate' then arrives with a fusion of moogy 808 rolls and choppy breaksy influxes. The breaksy theme sees us through to the finale as 'Alpha' gives us a euphoric closer, doused in spacy pad textures and a colourful arrangement to sign out in style.

Review: Last spotted on the likes of CNVX and None60, Wagz returns to Influence with two powerful late night soul-arresters. 'Rotations' hits like Seba in a stern mood or Klute in a reasonable mood. Big in the space-age / cosmic textures and extra large helpings in the weight department, there's more than a touch of the Soul:r about this one. 'Velvet' maintains the quality with more star-gazing elements, a big purring sub and a gentle progression that will elevate your crowd without them even realising. Stunning.

Review: After several successful releases together, UK soulful house stalwart Sean McCabe returns to ZR, this time for a remix/mix album. We handed over the keys to the vaults of Z Records parts and let him run wild in his underpants. The album features 6 new exclusive McCabe remixes - Monique Bingham, Blackbyrds, The Sunburst Band and Soul Dharma, plus Sean's interpretation of an unreleased Akabu song Time Line". That's all alongside many of Sean's classic remixes, plus his personal favourites from the extensive ZR catalog and a DJ mix.

Review: Tronic has decided to celebrate its 400th release by issuing the second edition of its More Than Machine electro series. It gets off to an impressive start with label owner Christian Smith delivering an ominous slice of machine funk on "I Want It", before Carl Finlow drops a lithe rhythm and powerful low end in the shape of "Anomaly 3" and Detroit veteran DJ Godfather up the pace with the twitchy "Invasion of Detroit". But the presence of these veteran electro producers proves to be the exception rather than the rule, and the rest of Machine features techno artists exploring less well-known paths. Samuel Session impresses with the gritty, angular "Engine of War" and Alexander Kowalski deploys his bass-heavy approach to the nocturnal "Flickering Lights".

Review: He's by far better known for his disco output but as this full-length offering shows, the Serbian don known variously as Tonbe and Loshmi is no slouch in the house department either! Recent single 'Rotate', featuring the golden tonsils of Robert Owens, sets out the album's stall nicely, with the remaining nine tracks ranging from the lounge-y 'Journey To Downtown' with its vibes and sax, via the reggae-tinged 'Dub Thing', to the organ-led NJ garage vibes of 'Right Here Right Now', the uplifting piano stomp of 'Take Me Higher' and the positively sublime closer 'Beside Me'. A triumph.

Review: By far the freshest sounds coming out of London's broken beat scene in recent times has gotta be from the CoOp Presents label. Delivering a digital bonus bundle of a recent vinyl release, there's some gems to be discovered here be you a house head, soul man, jazz aficionado or searcher of bona-fide beats. A track for the smaller clubs out there goes IG Culture's remix of Reginald Omas Mamode IV's "400 Years" to a dub version of Trev's "The Sorcerer" not yet released on vinyl. Slight tropical vibes with a splash of '80s synth makes it into Alex Phountzi & Risa T's "Rotations" with South London HiFi getting down and dirty in "Like This". Extra house vibes ramp it up in the harder-edged yet soulful garage tunes of Xtra Brux's "Jus Let Me Be" alongside the beat driven baby giggles of Cengiz's "Tribute" and that straight up R&B club jam, "Home Demo (feat Aleisha Lee - Risa T remix)". Quality controlled!

Review: Deep in the Jungle continue their onwards march with this, the seventh edition in their widely acclaimed Anthems series, a compilation that always finds the ideal mix of current and future talent to showcase. In the case of the former, well-travelled producers Epicentre and Kumarachi roll things out and tear them down on 'Light Em Up', which features a gnarly array of interlinked bass nodes and torn low frequency sonics, al underpinned by a percussion section that's the perfect blend of rusty and sharp. New talent emerges in the form of Trobe and Mirage, who have their first label release with '89', although you wouldn't have guessed it based off this tune's razor clean percussive edge and expert use of space, a hard thing to get right and one this pair blow out the water here. Rave samples, expansive basslines and a synth arrangement you won't be able to shake - unmissable. 34 tracks later and Deep in the Jungle have nailed every single one of them - big ups.

Review: Terrence Dixon's From the Far Future odyssey began 20 years ago when the first album in the series appeared on Tresor. The second, at times more danceable instalment, followed only in 2012, with another eight-year gap until this latest volume. Like its predecessors, this third long player is a hugely impressive affair and will leave the listener in no doubt that Dixon is a master of the techno form. From the brooding ambience of "Lost Communication Procedure" and "Lost In Space" to the gloomy pointillist abstractions of "We Can Rebuild Him" and "Remarkable Warrior" into the more full blooded club techno on the tough "Spectrum of Light" and the atmospheric, ghostly "Program Weight", "Part 3" once again reveals a true visionary at work.

Review: Tuomas Rantanen has released an extensive catalogue of work for labels like Naked Lunch and Blackout Audio, and this release shows that when it comes to peak-time, percussive techno, he has few peers. The title track resounds to cheese-wire percussion and pounding kicks, with eerie textures floating in against the backdrop of a tough, steely rhythm. "Tangent Vector" has echoes of Mike Parker, thanks to the use of a sub-bass that pulsates below the surface of Rantanen's driving drums, while the Finnish producer's love of deep textures hang in the background. Rounding off the release are the jacking, steely rhythm and phased filters of "Velocity of Curves".

Review: Don't be fooled by the title here. While there's definitely a strong African influence to the six tracks featured on this EP from Greece's Timewarp, you don't need to be a lover of complex polyrhythms or breathy, chanted vox to appreciate them. Instead, ever-prolific Italian producer Lalinga looks to African funk and jazz of the 1970s for inspiration. 'Nasty Shit' comes at the sound from a hip-hop perspective and 'Rebellie' is the EP's most overtly house-leaning cut, while 'Afrikaanse Waansin' is the most traditional-sounding, but all six will work well on the floor and will have particular appeal for the breakers and jazz dancers.

Review: Freestyle's series of genre-themed download bundles continues, with June's 'Afro & Latin!' and September's 'Funk!' comps now joined by this 40-track collection of soul and disco nuggets from the label's back catalogue. The set kicks off with a bona fide classic in the form of Omar's 'There's Nothing Like This', after which come 39 more cuts from the likes of Carleen Anderson, Kyle Audist and The Fantastics (not to mention, in featured vocalist form, Jocelyn Brown and Caron Wheeler). The title's something of a misnomer - the emphasis is firmly on 'new old' soul, future R&B and neo-soul rather than disco - but there's much to enjoy here all the same.

Review: Following 2018's Wet Will Always Dry, Blawan returns to his Ternesc imprint for more high-paced techno. The title track moves at a frenetic pace, with its hiccuping, skeletal rhythm containing happy hardcore and rave samples. On "Lox", he maintains the same kind of tempo, but instead daubs the arrangement in noisy swathes of feedback. "Gadget" is much more abrasive; powered by distorted kicks, it sees the UK producer deliver cascading filters over a stomping rhythm. Closing out the latest release on his label is "Hapexil Rotator", where he opts for a slightly more restrained but grimy rhythm that resounds to pulsating tones.

Review: If we were to a shortlist of names as to who could be crowned the most exciting dubstep artist of 2019, to not find Zygos on that list would be nothing short of a crime. He arrives here on Foundation Audio to continue his high profile release run with three original heaters, kicking off with the super-stepper vibes and rolling percussion of the title track 'Rotation'. This shimmers along before shining a light onto 'Sick As A Dog', which takes a more hypnotic approach, with floating synth lines and gnarly bass warbles below, before we round everything up on the more industrial bass prods of 'Tumble Dub', a naughty little number destined to blast the roof off any venue!

Review: V Recordings do some of the best compilations in the business and their brand new Foundation series is a natural recognition of that fact. They're not being hyperbolic with the usage of the term 'Foundation' either, because this is truly an overview of some of the scene's most foundational producers. Old-school Dillinja, Krust, Roni Size and DJ Die, amongst others, make up the roster of acts that formed an integral part of the genre back in the day. The new crew is also represented, however, in the form of L-Side, Think Tonk, Nasza Linez and loads more, all of whom bring some of that V-style heat. Wicked album - one for the heads.

Reflector/Rotate
Reflector - (6:19) 128 BPM Hot
Rotate - (6:26) 125 BPM
Review: 2019 is proving to be a very creative time for Robert Hood. Already this year, the seminal producer has put out a split EP with Mark Broom and now follows it with this solo two-tracker. "Reflector" is a dark, chord-heavy affair that builds and drops tantalisingly, with an undercurrent of menace as it progresses. Although it's a big-room track, it brings with it a subtlety that most such material in that category lacks. On the flip side, "Rotate" is a very different proposition. Deeper and slower, it sees the Detroit artist show a far more reflective and atmospheric side to his style.

Review: As far as 140 legends go, there aren't many who have remained active as long as this man as Distance makes an exciting return to his home imprint of 'Chestplate' for a display in dubstep mastery. The title track 'Awaken' is a twisted ball of distorted delights, fizzing away beneath hard hitting drum launches, before we hear the metallic bass pushes of 'Equate' and the glitchy experimentations of 'Rotation', which provides a really interesting sense of off-beat rhythm. We finish up with 'Setting Scores', an evil grimey shocker, deviating between emotive harmonic structures and nasty reese expanses. Brilliant stuff.

Review: Brighton vibe conjurer Footshooter returns to our collections with this exceptional Yam debut. More mini album than EP, "Technicolour Nights" is an exceptional piece of work that fuses a whole gamut of styles that work just as well at home as they do in the dance. Running like a hazy trip from start to finish, highlights include the subtle rolling breaks fluttering beneath the provocative spoken word of And Is Phi on "Mars", the rippled wah wahs and stately momentum of "Juan's Stairwell" and the slo-n-low shuffles and dreamy strums of the finale "Our Love". Sublime... Sleep on this and you'll be shooting yourself in the foot.

Review: Earlier this year, Irish producer Marcus Lambkin delivered his first new material for two years as part of Me Me Me's second all-star "We We We" EP. Here the former DFA man returns to Man Power's label with a typically solid single. There are three original cuts to choose from: the gently spacey, funked-up deep house throb of "Cubed", the deep Chicago jack-meets-Balearic acid rush of "Rotation" and the sleepy warmth of "The Life To Come", where elongated chords and rich electric piano motifs ride a chunky, bass-heavy house groove. Edmundson re-imagines "Cubed" as a blissful chunk of deep house/two-step fusion, while Vin Sol wraps "Rotation" in raw analogue bass, mind-altering stabs and undulating acid lines.

Black Widow/Falling Apart
Black Widow - (4:19) 174 BPM Hot
Falling Apart - (4:52) 174 BPM
Review: Not yet a year old, but already Insomniac's new talent championing In / Rotation imprint has already blessed us with 25 releases from across the forefront spectrum. With previous releases ranging from Left / Right's blissed bass "Bloom" to LA Riots' late night slinky techno "House Philosophy", they now go full-on D&B mode with Consouls' cohort Des McMahon who delivers two white knuckle wipe-outs. "Black Widow" funks with a perfectly loosened rattle, an evocative vocal texture and well-tamed bass growls while "Falling Apart" provides more of a tunnelling, big breeze effect with mildly liquified pads and a warm sense of focus. Think late 2000s Hospital but with modern day production muscle. In / Rotation = heavy rotation.

Review: It was only a matter of time before a man of T>I's stripes landed on a label of Critical's calibre. A verified roller wizard, he's been supplying the big guns with gully workouts for years. Here are four prime examples of his skillishness: "Rotations" takes a classic house vocal sample and flips it around a loose drum groove with all the wobbles, "Crunch Times" is a lean stepper with trippy fills and a velvet sub hook, "Six Mile Bottom" pays homage to your old lady in the most lewd and surly manner thanks to a grunting, distorted bass push every four bars while "Packets" provides the finishing move with some precision rolled drums and a bass hook that couldn't be more Bristol if it went around shouting "get lush". On-point.

Review: With releases on Cocoon and Drumcode to his credit, Ilario Alicante's star in the ascent- and Virgo will help to guide him on this upward trajectory. "Rotate" is an unusual arrangement, combining the drone and crackle of IDM and abstract electronics with a thundering rhythm, while on the title track, he fuses trance riffs that have an anthem-like quality with a rolling, big-room groove and effective filters. "Confused", by contrast, is a straight tribal track featuring drops, builds and a hypnotic vocal loop, while digital fans of Alicante will be happy that the ambient "Virgo Odyssey" is included. Factor in a relentless tribal remix from Slam and it's hard not to imagine Alicante becoming an increasingly popular techno artist.

Review: After signing with legendary agency and former label Finger Lickin', Father Funk quickly became one of the biggest names in breakbeat and ghetto funk. Fresh off the back of two Canada tours earlier this year and the 1st anniversary of his own successful Bristol based night 'Father Funk's Church of Love', the father has cemented himself as one of the freshest taste makers in the UK right now. Taking huge inspiration from the disco and funk sounds of the 70's and 80's, this debut record is the first full release that is completely original and free from his best-known sampling work. It captures the energy of the funk and soul golden years whilst combining it with modern dance music and disco culture, not sticking to one particular genre. With over three years in the making the father has been able to collaborate with some of the freshest names in the scene, including London rap duo Too Many T's, Ghetto Funk legends WBBL and Slynk, Canadian hip hop group Illvis Freshly and neo-soul singer Hilary Beckett.

Review: Phizzy has long since shown himself to be a man of many layers and flavours but this is a whole new side altogether. Tapping into more soulful pastures, "Spot Light" tips a respectful nod to the legacy of Hidden Agenda or the jazzy work of Makoto with smooth, shimmering but weighted flow. A future classic, without question. "Rotate" takes more of a jungle twist with pitched amens running point over another swooning instrumental palette. Genuinely outstanding and a perfect fit for Headz, too. Nailed it.

Review: Next up on Tiga's Turbo Recordings is Tel Aviv's Autarkic, with what he describes himself as "Industrial Techno tribal goth dub vibes for 2075 and beyond!" He starts out with the hazy and low slung groove of "Rotation! Rotation!" featuring some nice new romantic style vocals, chunky synth bass and exotic drums; sounds like Human League gone Middle Eastern safari. The remix by fellow countrymen and rising star Red Axes is way more energetic and will definitely work the floor a bit better than the original. Also "I Know" hammers the message home gloriously on this sweet slice of 80s synth pop served up in 2016 style!

Review: One of the main contributors to Berceuse Heroique delivers a bass-heavy three-track EP. First up is the title track; with its robust breaks and ear-splitting shrieks unfolding over wave upon wave of nausea-inducing sub-bass, it worships at the altar of hardcore. "Flammarion Beach" is also underpinned by a tearing low end, but on this occasion, the bass intensity is offset by high-pitched trance melodies that flit and hover above the arrangement. Closing out the release is "Rotating Rupees". In stark contrast to the other tracks, it's a soft-focus, ambient passage that recalls the more cosmic end of '70s library music, a soothing alternative to Koehler's fury.

Review: Newcomer Shako comes through for Rival Turf's this release to date, adding yet more ambient bass science to this ever impressive new catalogue. We say bass ambience because the waves of loose synths and pads in "Cylindrical" are given energy by plenty of low frequencies, whereas "Indunk" itself is a straight-up acid beauty charged by heavy half-breaks - totally recommended just for this one! "It Rotates!" is a wonky broken beat cut with a masterful percussive execution, and Ryan James Ford's remix of "Indunk" strips the original back and adds in a militant pile of straight kicks. Tip!

Review: Exium continues his strong run of releases. As this four-tracker so ably demonstrates, what's really impressive about the Spanish producer is his ability to integrate existing tropes with his own sound. On "Monopoles", this approach sees him fuse a Function-style linear pulse with a repetitive vocal sample, while "Magnetic Flux" goes further and deeper into this direction, a dank, tunneling rhythm led by tonal bleeps and blips. On the title track, he changes direction again, with the kind of drones that one would associate with Hospital Productions fused with shaking percussion, while "Early Life" brings the release to a close to the sound of Mills-inspired, panel-beating drums.

The label returns for its second outing with an EP from Causa, who has appeared on Tusk Wax and Disco Bloodbath, who delivers the goods in the label's familiar style of play. Each of the four cuts is cinematic, wide-eyed and chord-heavy, and our pick of the lot has to be "Soa" thanks to its intricate beat pattern and almost balearic melodies riding in its underbelly. A fine addition to this young catalogue!

The Cube EP

Mandatory - (6:27) 80 BPM
Review: It's been a minute since North Walian low end warrior Feonix last stepped up to M.U.D. - six months to be precise. Naturally he's made up for lost time with this rule-shredding quintuplet of jams. There's a heavy emphasis on tempo flexing and rifle-like riddims, too, as both the subverted jungle smasher "Heavy Rotation" and the skippy, steppy "Peashooter" both roll and flare with D&B verve. Dungeon-dwelling dubstep purists should jump on the gruff, guttural "Inhale" and the grunty, hooky lead track. For added variety, scope and depth Feonix has also thrown in the 80BPM "Mandatory". Slo-mo breakbeats coded with ominous, paranoid baritone frequencies, it brings the EP to the unique close it deserves. Impeccable stuff; only squares wouldn't like "The Cube".

Review: Having first appeared back in January on the Undercover Sounds label, Shit Hot Soundsystem have now reappeared on Yam Who's Midnight Riot stable. "In Heavy Rotation" kicks things off with a slimmed down take on Fat Larry Band's Act Like You Know. Elsewhere we get funky electro-house on "Kevin Spacey", chopped and looped dreamy synth-soul ("Girls") and the laser light-led disco house of "Bashful".

Review: The Straight Up trawler has sailed into the choppy breakbeat seas and, once again, caught a fine catch. 26 tracks, in total, each one reflecting a different flavour of the genre, this could be one of the label's finest fishing sessions to date. Ranging from the classic, sneering Botchit-style tears of "Da Dogz" and BreaksMafia's super-rude take on Dave London's classic "Black Disc" to the more contemporary trance-tinged "As Ice" and the filmic spine-shuddering rushes of "Vertigo", Straight Up have ensured no breakbeat fan has been ignored during the making of this extensive album. Epic.

Review: Bootleg mash-up specialist turned funk breaks heavyweight Zamali returns with "The Rebirth", an expansive EP packed with well-crafted, floor-friendly goodies. "Funky Rotator" sets the tone, offering just the right balance between spiralling Hammond funk, shuffling drum breaks and melodic sweetness. Punchier dancefloor fare can be found in the shape of "Far Far West" and Time To Sleep", while "Loose Control" [sic] and "Is It Worth It" drop the tempo, expertly adding a welter of soul and funk instruments for added pleasure. The EP also includes a number of tasty remixes, with the sweaty funk beats, spiralling trumpets and low slung bass of Mister T's "Funk Rotator" rework standing out.

Review: Over the last few years, the Editorial imprint - an outlet for disco, electrofunk and house-centric re-edits and reworks - has established a winning formula: expansive, compilation style EPs featuring tracks from a wide range of scalpel-wielding talents. This 33rd excursion sticks to the script, offering another quintet of floor-friendly rubs. There's a dash of heavyweight P-funk (Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee's forthright "Saturday Night"), some cut-and-paste, sampleadelic beats (Future Feelings' Steinski-ish "Basement Jam"), a sprinkling of deep disco-house (Matt Hughes, P-Sol) and a fluid, Aim-ish trip into downtempo instrumental hip-hop territory (Riccio's electric piano-heavy "Reflections").

Review: It seems that the guys at Legere are really getting into this trawling through the vaults shizzle, as here we have yet another themed compilation. It's certainly a good way to demonstrate the breadth of the label's scope, and after recent downbeat and disco orientated collections, this album explores the variety of remixes that have passed through their doors over the years. Highlights include the crunchy, breaky electro of Malente's take on "Another Man", the glorious vintage disco abandon of "Dazz (Patchworks remix)" and the lazy, retro hip-hop funk of "Interlude (Pitch & Scratch mix)".
