Review: Over the last few years the partnership between former Tyrant mainstay Lee Burridge and mystery producer Lost Desert has resulted in a string of impeccable deep house releases. "Melt", their most expansive collaborative release to date, is similarly atmospheric, intricate and picturesque. They set the scene brilliantly via a trio of sublime ambient cuts (the new age bliss of "Melt" and epic "Lingala (Beatless)" being the standouts) before shuffling towards the dancefloor on the deep and languid "Rain". Simon Vaurambon lends a hand on the atmospheric, bass-heavy chug of "One", while regular vocalist Junior lends his honeyed tones to the string-drenched positivity of "Mibale". Elsewhere you'll find more sweet and seductive dream house treats, with "Christina, Daydreaming" providing a fittingly loved-up finale. Superb stuff!

Review: We, The People is Pasteur Lappe's 1979 masterpiece, and what is surely an LP that has helped the afro-funky sound to grow and prosper throughout the years. Africa Seven have done us the favour of digitising such an iconic six-tracker, and it just makes so much sense given today's fascination with outer national sounds of all variations. This is pure funky from start to finish, such as in "More Sekele Movement (Papas NI Name)", about there is something cosmic, deeper, and more experimental behind its seductive hypnosis. It's also pure party music through and through, never going to deep as to leave the dancers running dry - it's quite simply an essential piece of music to have in your arsenal, and a very early African funk bomb to show off in the discussion threads...

Review: There's something pleasingly old-fashioned about the work of mysterious producer A Sagittariun. To date, the enigmatic artist has delivered a string of strong 12" singles that sit somewhere between classic Detroit techno, mid-'90s electronica (think Pete Namlook with a dancefloor pulse, or stargazing ambient house) and early U.S deep house. Dream Ritual, his first full-length, continues in a similar vein, offering the kind of stargazing melodies, wide-eyed atmospherics and tactile, synth-heavy rhythms that bristle with cosmic intent. There are some startling diversions from the formula, too, not least the rubbery slap bass, paranoid vocal samples and vintage drum machine hits of "The Age of Sin".

Review: Unlike many of its rivals, Fingerman's Hot Digits label doesn't fill its' obligatory annual compilation with back catalogue cuts. Instead, we're offered a vast number of previously unheard re-edits, remixes and original productions. It's a successful blueprint and one religiously adhered to on Hot Digits: Year Seven, the popular imprint's latest must-check collection. There's not enough room to single out every sonic highlight, but our current favourites include the breezy boogie squelch of Ross Fitz's 'I Miss Your Love ('85 Mix)', the driving deep house haziness of Fingerman and Henri Le Blanc's 'Leave Your Cares Tonight', the neo-trance cheeriness of Picklejam's 'Endorphin Situation' and the stab-happy, peak-time house retro-futurism of 'The Feeling' by Downunder Disco.

Review: The one and only Euphonique makes her debut on Dubplate Dread with this humungous EP - 'Seven Songs'. Ranging from her darkest to her most emotional dispatches to date, the EP is deadly mission statement. Cuts like 'Dem Bad' (with Killamanjaro) and 'Dun Know' hit hard with the tension and thunderous basslines while 'Amen' (with Aries) takes us back to Euphonique's junglistic roots with some brilliant drum funk. Meanwhile on the flip we have the beautiful and touching cuts like 'Cry' and 'Without You' where you can feel the sentiment and feeling burning from every element. Easily one of Euphonique's biggest EPs to date, do not sleep on this!

Heko - "Mercury Seven" - (6:01) 114 BPM
Lock Eyes - "Living In A Cup" - (6:24) 124 BPM
Marius Varied - "Artus Beach Miks" - (6:39) 114 BPM
Gnork - "The Unofficial Chords Of Planet Ee" - (5:50) 123 BPM Hot
Review: From the same crew that brought us the Crown Castle Cuts series; Blind Jacks Journey arrives at its fourth and final volume which is just as eminently collectable as the editions that preceded it. French producer Heko calls shotgun with "Mercury Seven" a wonderfully uplifting slab of modern italo, all thick channelled arpeggios, heavy filtering and choppy drums that will fit snugly in any warm up set. From here the unheralded Lock Eyes transfers the mood to warm and playfully fluffy dub techno on "Living In A Cup" where a fairly straight rhythm kick is the placeholder around which all manner of interesting detail is unfurled - if Anthony Naples came from Knaresborough he might make music like this. The pastoral warmth remains when Full Pupp veteran Marius Vareid turns in a slab of blissful Nordic house with "Artur Beach Miks" whilst Hungarian producer Gnork lays down what's possibly an ode to Carl Craig's Psyche output with the ascendant charm of "The Unofficial Chords Of Planet EE".

Review: Finally, some 20 years after it was recorded (it hit stores on vinyl and CD a year later), Larry Heard has dropped a digital download reissue of 'Sceneries, Not Songs Vol 1', his first album under his given name (his previous full-length excursions were credited to Mr Fingers). It remains a classic full-length; a set in which he expanded on his usual detailed deep house sound and displayed the full scope of his musical vision. Of course, there's plenty of genuinely vintage, often intergalactic-sounding deep house on show (see 'Dolphin Dream' and the epic 'Midnight Movement'), but also forays into ambient ('Tahiti Dusk', 'Snowcaps', 'Winter Winds & Chills'), head-nodding downtempo beats ('Sumnertime Breeze') and jazzy mid-tempo gear ('One, Three, Five, Seven, Eight', where Heard lays down some impeccable solos).

Review: And so the remix rampage continues... Noisia hit the fourth volume of their 'Resonance' collection with an allstar cast of talents ranging from established pioneers like Futurebound and Audio to younger trailblazers like Ternion Sound and MISSIN. As you'd expect, the vibes hit thick and fast as each remixer brings their best game. Highlights include Gyrofield's haunting, near-medieval twist on 'Banshee', Forbidden Society returning to the collection with a smouldering, swaggering roller, Burr Oak's turbulent happy-slapping tech tear-up of 'Stigma' and MACHINEN's industrial strength take on 'Hand Gestures'. All this and so much more, Noisia manage to whip up world beating albums even after they've split up.

Review: Drum & Bass Arena has ruled on high for nearly 20 years, and in that time has helped to forge the careers of every drum & bass artist worth their salt. It's impossible to downplay the influence the site has had on the scene, as a club brand and an online resource, and this year their official compilation is a doozie. Featuring some of the largest tracks around right now from Friction & Skream, J Majik & Wickaman, DJ Hazard, Rene LaVice, Calyx & TeeBee, Original Sin and Optiv & BTK as well as bangers from fresh artists like Heist, Zen & Nitri, this is an essential purchase for any D&B fan. Focussing on the heavier end of the spectrum this 35 track behemoth is basically your 2013 compendium of bass. Don't leave home without it.

Review: Having seen his vintage remix of DJ Dove's "Come On" (originally produced with 20:20 Vision partner in crime Carl Finlow, and first released in 2000) make an unlikely dancefloor comeback last year (not a huge surprise, given its quality), Ralph Lawson has decided to trawl through his box of long-forgotten DATs for more forgotten gold. Bar a handful of recent reworks (including a fine re-tweak of a little-known, Andres-ish Prophets of Sound rework), all of the remixes on Dusty Dubs & Gold Dust by Lawson and Finlow at least 10 years ago. That most sound surprisingly fresh is testament to their quality. Highlights and naturally plentiful, from the skittering, hard-to find mix of Wolf 'N' Flow's "Feeling moody", to the raw house-boogie vibes of their magnificent Blaze rework.

Review: Focusing very much on the sounds, vibes and atmospheres that raw, old school drum and bass and jungle evokes, Textures music Group is a new type of label. Creating and discovering fresh talent to fit their agenda can't be easy but this 10-track compilation is a little bit of perfection. Featuring some well-known names and some fresh-faced newcomers, it's the perfect antidote to a life filled with sterile, clear-cut productions. Get some 1999 soulfulness back into your playlist.

Review: This is not the first compilation to drop whose sole aim is to raise funds for NHS Chartities Together - R&S Records and Bass Agenda both delivered similarly epic sets - but "Care4Life" may well be the strongest and most diverse. As you'd expect, each one of the 45 tracks is previously unreleased, and the cast list reads like a who's who of dance music culture. Notable highlights include an ultra-deep, saucer-eyed number from Daniel Avery, an unheard rework of the Chemical Brothers' "Catch Me I'm Falling", a superb revision of Harvey's Locussolus project by Kiwi, Matthew Herbert in jazzy broken beat mode, a rare solo outing from Optimo's JD Twitch, a rip-roaring rave workout from Jas Shaw, and thumping peak-time bangers from Dusky, Eats Everything and Patrick Topping.

The Ibiza dwelling Frenchman's acclaimed series of 12's on his eponymous imprint have fast become the stuff of legend, delivering surefire rolling and hypnotic maximal house: volume after volume that have included works by Mr KS, Tuccillo and Romanians Premiesku. On the 5 LP he presents his debut album and proves that he's been saving up some of his best grooves yet. The number not only marks the number of years that have passed since his label was conceived, but also represents the months it took to complete his very first long player. There's so many highlights, but our picks are: the very Derrick Carter/Sound Patrol sounding "Flamingo", the druggy dancefloor maximalism of "Mister Bastard" or "DB Cooper" and the blunted hip-hop beats of his collaboration with John Dimas "Suzaku"
