The quality is as high as the quantity too; a selection of Asbo classics and brand new flavours we're taken from smooth silky rolling soul such as Westy's "Making Moves" and jazzy V-style thunder like Savannah's "Glide Away" to hurricane amen depth (Dawn Raid, Gold Dubs & Jinx - "Old Fashioned") and classic mid 90s style jump-up ruffage (Cabin Fever's remix of "Raw Dogs") via warm-as-toast dub soul a la Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion's "Talk Too Much" and Daffy's beautiful "Love Dub". And that's only an eighth of killer cuts on here. Easily one of the best tenners a junglist can invest this month.

Review: We can think of few DJs more suited to compile a retrospective of killer 1990s house and garage than Z Records boss Joey Negro and Fanatix member Neil Pierce. It's perhaps unsurprising then that this follow-up to Negro's admired 2015 compilation is packed to the rafters with must-have treats. There are naturally some suitably big cuts present - see Kerri Chandler's fine mix of N-Joi's "Anthem" and Todd Terry's rub of Martha Walsh's "Runaround" - but for the most part the selections will be new to all but a small collection of veteran US garage enthusiasts. Our highlights include the riff-powered goodness of Slam Mode's "100% Power", Marshall Jefferson's deep dub of Screamin' Rachael's "Rock Me" and the soulful rush of Donald O's "Everything's Gonna Be Alright".

Review: It appears that the Ghetto Dub Recordings team has assembled one hell of a roster for this one as they unleash the fully unmixed version of the Dubz: ReRubbed album project, allowing us to enjoy each and every tune in its full majesty. We find the perfect balance of high intensity dancefloor danger and more stripped back rollers throughout the compilation, from the Phibes remix of Wrecked from Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion giving us a gritty, synth lead smackdown to the much more junglist inspired recreation of Java's 'Screwface' from Aries. There are a few standouts throughout this eclectic selection, including Epicentre's monstrous sub-driven rework of 'We Up There' from Bill & Ed, alongside Veak's neurotic overhaul of Subcriminal's 'Mack 10' and the system rattling recreation of Flat T's 'Proceedings Closed' from Durban. What a selection this is!

Review: A diverse post-dubstep producer that everyone's talking about, Reso finally delivered his debut album Tangram last year to great acclaim. Now it's time a for a remix edition, and boy does it feature everything including the kitchen sink. Highlights include Koan's brutal and snarling breakbeat version of "Axion", the beautiful synthscapes of Om Unit's remix of "Simple Pleasures", the insane industrial dubstep/arpeggiated techno fusion of Billain's remix of "Half Life", the sparse beat-fest of Doshy's "Coronium" rework and Evol Intent's evocative version of "Ishimura" which somehow manages to combine tropical beats and industrial metal chimes.

Review: Straight out of Kingston, Jamaica, Moonshine Recordings team up with the unstoppable force of Bukkha for a melodic masterpiece of an EP. Featuring multiple original vocal performances, this EP entitled 'Unity' sees Bukkha delve deep into his dub roots, especially with the vibrancy of the first track 'Unite' featuring Clinton Sly. The combination of dub-style drum arrangement and airy woodwind melodies on this and 'A Burial' featuring Don Fe makes for very enjoyable listening. The stripped back dub-reggae stylings of 'Peacemaker' alongside Blind Prophet and the murky drum and bass switch ups of 'Dark Future' round the EP off perfectly. This is another fantastic look at dub music from a different angle, a scenario that Moonshine Recordings have become synonymous with in recent times!

Review: Nomine's Nomine Sound deals in the darker, more brooding shade of bass music that we all still really like to call 'dubstep'. The man's been an influential member of London's Tempa unit, so all the credentials are certainly in the right place. This new EP sees his share ideals with Macabre Unit, an absolute don in the game, and the two are perfectly matched. Nomine kicks off with three solo cuts, from the tribalesque grime antics of, ehm, "Grimy Tribe", to the menacing digi-gunshots of "Game Over", and "World Of G" featuring MC Duff, a vocal-ridden grime killer sung in an imperceptible strain of patois - tha BOMB! Macabre Unit first steps up with the explosive, head-banging bursts of "Sound Boy", followed by a cacophonous flurry of grime-inspired synth stabs on "Red Stripe Riddim", and tied off with the electrifying bass waves of "Neurotik".

Review: Flexing across his two more prominent aliases, Raff AKA Demon AKA Macabre Unit AKA Nurve b2b's himself hard in the kisser at the behest of professor Nomine. Three tunes a-side, his 140 dubstep-inspired Macabre Unit guise takes the lead with drama and dark humour; "Darth Vader" is a theatrical skanker, "Mash Up Da Place" is a woozy, toxic jam with a bassline that spirals into paranoia while "Man Up" gets all stiff upper-lip with its rising bass hook that flips between textures with a nervous twitch. Raff's slower, tech-inspired Nurve constructions complete the story with glacial glee... "Silentium" is a sparse, deep space twist on halftime and alien jungle, "Amazon" is a swampy triplet swinging riddim while "Best To Just Ride It" sends us packing off to space on a rocket of off-grid drums and raw man-eating bass. Immense.

Review: While some labels have scaled back their output during the ongoing global pandemic, Shall Not Fade has not let up. The Bristol-based label's latest must-check release is a typically jazzy deep house mini-album from experienced German producer Tilman. There's not enough room to detail every track on offer, but we'd suggest starting with energetic, techno-tempo opener 'Relax Yourself' (breezy jazz-funk-house on steroids), before moving on to the squelchy and tactile late-night hypnotism of 'Beauty In The Dark' (think Italian dream house with extra percussive drive) and the bumpin', sample-rich jazz-house goodness of 'Vice Versa', whose beats reminded us of some of Switch and Jesse Rose's work as Inducive. There are plenty more highlights scattered across the EP, making it a genuine must-check for deep house heads.

Review: Londoner-in-L.A Urulu (AKA producer Taylor Freels) seems to have an instinctive grasp of booth groove and melody. Previously, he's impressed via releases on Needwant, Dirt Crew and Manucci's Misstress. Here, he makes his debut for Jacques Renault and company's Brooklyn-based Let's Play House imprint. While the bold melodies and shuffling house rhythms we've come to expect from Freels are still present - most notably on the vivid, synth-laden deep house-goes-Balearic bliss of "Moon Unit" and Ben la Dash's eyes-wide-shut rework of the same track - he also displays an impressive desire to mix it up. So, "Sound Like Sumo" fuses deep broken beats with heady chords and delicious P-funk squiggles, while "Lunar Larry" delivers enveloping chords, soft-focus grooves and baggy soundscapes.
