Euphonique & Dazee Present: Welcome To The Jungle
Review: Oh gosh! Every Welcome To The Jungle collection is a big deal but this latest edition from Euphonique and Dazee is a whole other rain forest. 96 tracks and a mix that weighs in over two hours, this is the sound of two of the most foremost and inspiring Bristol-based DJs going IN in every single direction. Loaded with a great range of classics, exclusives and left-of-centre vibes, highlights across this massive collection include Aries and Euphonique's massive 'Amen', Dazee & Jinx's 'Shake It Up', Sweetpea and Chickaboo's 'The Jump Off' and the recent skat-dancing fire-up 'Skip De Du Dat'. And that's not scratching the surface. This is an epic collection. Essential.

General Levy Presents Welcome To The Jungle + Mix By Deekline & Ed Solo
Review: Can we get a 'wicked?' Jungle Cakes continue to team up with some of the biggest donnies in the game with this latest Welcome To The Jungle collection. This time curated and fronted by the General himself, as you'd expect this is a full-on jungle assault that covers every single angle and every single era. 47 tracks and one killer mix, hosted and toasted by Levy himself, this is one of Jungle Cakes most comprehensive collections to date: From the foundation-setting, historic vibes of "Incredible" through to contemporary bangers from the likes of Kursiva, DJ Hybrid, Jam Thieves, Benny Page and all things in between, everyone involved has delivered something special. Massive.

Welcome To The Jungle - Gold (The Best Of Jungle Cakes)
Various
Review: Oh gosh... Jungle Cakes look back over their delicious back catalogue, and the wider jungle vista, to bring together 74 of the finest recipes known to mankind for this Gold level baking session. Featuring some of the biggest dishes in existence, one minute we're skanking out to Klue's insane 'Rudy, A Message To You', the next we're getting slapped by Spyda on Serum's 'All Ganja Man' then the next we're being tickled by seminal classics such as M-Beat & General Levy's 'Incredible'. The list of incendiary cuts goes on and on and on... Bossmen Ed Solo & Deekline's 'No No No', Potential Bad Boy's 'Over My Head', Dope Ammo & Taiwan MC's 'Babylon Falling' - every single cut is as hot as your oven on baking day. What a package... And there's a mix thrown in for good measure. Gold... Always believe in your soul.

Serial Killaz Presents: The Mixtape Volume 2
Various
Review: In terms of legendary status for labels over on the jungle/jump-up side of the scene, it's pretty hard to beat Serial Killaz. Run by the duo of the same name, the imprint has arrived with the second instalment of their mixtape series and it's unsurprisingly good. Full of big tunes from guys like Serial Killaz themselves, Vital Elements and Upgrade, it's the latter of these guys that takes the cake with 'Steel Drum'. You've probably heard this one doing the rounds and it's actually already been released, but oh boy what a tune this is: a screaming, siren-lake mash of grating metallic synths and punching drums all come together to make an unstoppably good piece of music. Don't sleep on the rest of these tunes though, and a special mention goes to DJ Hybrid's 'Beatbox' - naught jungle vibes.

Generation Jungle Vol 3

Played by: DJ Rachael EC, Dj Dazee
Review: 48 tracks? Asbo you are truly spoiling us. The quality is as high as the quantity too; a selection of Asbo classics and brand new flavours we're taken from smooth silky rolling soul such as Westy's "Making Moves" and jazzy V-style thunder like Savannah's "Glide Away" to hurricane amen depth (Dawn Raid, Gold Dubs & Jinx - "Old Fashioned") and classic mid 90s style jump-up ruffage (Cabin Fever's remix of "Raw Dogs") via warm-as-toast dub soul a la Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion's "Talk Too Much" and Daffy's beautiful "Love Dub". And that's only an eighth of killer cuts on here. Easily one of the best tenners a junglist can invest this month.

The Craig Charles Trunk Of Funk Volume 2
Craig Charles / Various
Review: As a lifelong soul boy - poet, actor and renowned BBC6 Music and Radio 2 host, Craig Charles returns with Trunk Of Funk Volume 2! With Volume 1 even managing to hit the UK charts, Volume 2 kicks it off with an exclusive Trunk Of Funk remix of The Allergies (featuring Ugly Duckling's Andy Cooper) next to some obscure and bizarre psychedelic '70s funk of "Your Autumn Of Tomorrow" by The Crow. Volume 2 is also the only place you'll get to hear Smoove & Turrells' Exclusive Trunk Of Funk edit of "Slow Down'' next to banging jams and covers by The Bamboos, The Souljazz Orchestra ("Sorrow Fly Away"), to deep and crackling soul numbers by Luther Ingram and that big band, hip hop extravaganza by Joseph Malik in "Mixed Race Combination". Craig Charles reputation as an ambassador for all things soulful & funky lives!

Visions (18th Anniversary Edition) (Remastered)
Review: Berkshire drum and bass legend and Beta Recordings head honcho John B is back! The man notorious for his crazy hair-doos as much as he is for coining the term 'electro-step', there's no doubt his contributions to the drum and bass sound over the last 20 odd years have been significant. To commemorate the 18th anniversary of his seminal Visions album, it gets remastered with a whole bunch of bonus tracks for your enjoyment. Includes the Moog mix of his incredible collaboration with DJ SS "Slamfunk". There are a whopping 49 tracks on offer here including bonus tracks of his Vangelis style drum and bass synth odyssey "Starburst and loads of brilliant extended and alternative versions of his revered "Jazz Session' series of liquid drum and bass explorations.
Cheers; here's to another 20 years John B!

The Best Of Orlando Voorn (Explicit)
Various
Review: Veteran Dutch producer Orlando Voorn has been producing house and techno for nigh on three decades now, releasing seminal classics under varied aliases such as Fix, Basic Bastard, Designer Loops and The Nighttripper among many others. Moreover, he was one of the first Dutch musicians to establish a vital connection between Detroit and Amsterdam. A best of compilation covering many fine moments throughout Voorn's career was well overdue, and The Best Of Orlando Voorn features a bunch of right classics and anthems alike: not limited to the crossover classic Flash" (as Fix), the hi-tech soul of "Where Is Your Evidence" (as Frequency), the soulful vocal house of "Dance" (as Format) and the wonky percolator jack of "Dream World" (as Complex).

Z Records Presents Ibiza 2023
Various
Review: Dave Lee's Z Records bring us a 15-track, Ibiza-themed collection that, just like last year's offering, features a mixture of recent releases (such as recent Akabu single 'Highways', presented here in Cody Currie Remix form) and favourites from days gone by. In the latter camp, Raven Maize's 'The Real Life' gets a 2023 reworking courtesy of David Penn and The Sunburst Band's classic 'Until The End Of Time' is also treated to a 2023 Remaster, while Micky More & Andy Tee's Piano Mix of Doug Willis's 'Music Than Speaks Louder Than Words' from 2011 dropped late last year and Z Factor's 'Gotta Keep Pushing' returns in the less-played Salt City Orchestra Remix, which featured on the 1998 FFRR 12-inch but not the original 1996 Z release.
