Review: Glasgow's Shaka Loves You has rightly earned a reputation as disco-centric duo on the rise. Because of this, it's little surprise to see them at the controls on Bomb Strikes' first foray into the disco-focused compilation market. The Scottish pair have naturally pulled out all the stops for the occasion, selecting 20 hot-to-trot cuts that aptly blur the boundaries between disco, funk, nu-disco, electro and boogie. Highlights include, but are in no way limited to, the hazy, sun-kissed soul of Lack of Afro's "Back To The Day", the thickset P-funk revivalism of Kraak & Smaak's "Dynamite" and the rubbery disco-house-meets-UK soul flex of the Reflex's remix of Omar's "Vicky's Tune". Throw in a tasty selection of the pair's productions and you have a suitably strong collection.

Review: Given the multi-coloured dreaminess of the synthesizer chords on EP opener 'When This is Over' - a quick blast of immersive Balearic goodness - it's not that surprising to find that Love Will Say No is a new project from one half of Italian disco duo Fare Soldi. You'll find more blends of colourful dream house sonics and weighty dub disco elsewhere across the EP - see the driving but deep 'Days Of Nothing' and the more percussive and energetic 'We Are Choices'- alongside a spot pf luscious ambient acid ('Post Modern Ballad About You and Me'), some synth-laden Afro-tech (the really rather good 'Now Say Goodbye To Your Friends') and a Mauscovic Dance Band style psychedelic punk-funk workout ('She Likes Blood').

Review: Featuring vocals from UK electronic artist Gazelle Twin, Perc's ''Look What Your Love Has Done To Me" has gone from a vocal experiment to a certified classic and the biggest selling track in the history of his label. Review: Almost three years to the day from his last outing for Shall Not Fade, a contribution to their occasional 'Basement Trax' series, Huxley returns to KW's prolific imprint with a rock-solid four-track EP. The long-serving producer kicks things off in style via 'Cuttin' Corners', a bouncy, jazzy and breezy chunk of UKG-influenced deep house warmth, before opting for a darker, more excitable and warehouse-ready sound on certified throb-job 'Give Me Love'. Arguably even better is the tracky, hypnotic and percussion-rich deep tribal house number 'MYHEART', which is the kind of thing we think Junior Vasquez could have played at the Sound Factory, while 'Love Lifting' is a swirling, stomping, all-action treat.

With big names like Kathy Brown, DJ Paulette, Rowetta, Caron Wheeler, Sulene Fleming and Natasha Kitty Katt nestling up alongside a host of more up-and-coming artists, the quality standard is high throughout, with the musical emphasis largely on good-time, Saturday night house and disco vibes, though there a few more gently paced moments - notably in the form of covers of Bobby Caldwell's 'What You Won't Do For Love' and Sade's 'Sweetest Taboo' - while Paulette & Massey serve up a pleasing dose of acid on 'Sheroes'.

Review: Label-hopping producer and re-editor Massimo Vanoni has enjoyed a relatively quiet year thus far, with a low-key outing on Atop his only release of note. This EP on Editorial should thrust him back into the spotlight though, as it really is rather good. Its' most headline-grabbing feature is the sedate, slo-mo tempos he's decided to operate at. Sure, there is one 120 BPM workout - the acid-speckled, jazz guitar-laden disco/deep house fusion of sun-kissed stunner "House Revenge" - but everything else hovers around the 100 BPM mark. On standout "Feel It", Vanoni works wonders with a chugging groove, dub delays and snippets from a seriously sweet cut, while "On Your Loving" is a superb sunset-ready groover rich in elastic slap bass, vintage electronics and dreamy chords.

Review: Rayko teams up once more with Elena Hikari to deliver the pair's second joint long-player, following on the heels of 2023's 'Tu Alma Y La Mia'. But while that first album was good, this one's exceptional! Cinematic, cosmic opener 'Too Much' sets the tone but it's the second track, 'Nunca James', that really hits you in the face: it's a slow-burning monster, with Hikari's haunting vocal earning it a place in the box marked "truly sublime". 'Looking To Edge' is another BIG track that probably needs to be heard on a 4am dancefloor to be truly appreciated; after that you get four more cuts that blur the lines between cosmic/Italo disco, Balearica, coldwave, house and pop (including a new version of 'Extraordinarylove' from the first album) before the title track, another deep, slo-mo chugger, plays us out in very fine style. Excellent work!

Review: Given the prolific output of his Rare Wiri label, it's a wonder Rayko finds time to get in the studio at all. But he does, regularly - and when he's not producing synthy, 80s-flavoured nu-disco jams of his own, he somehow also manages to fit in the odd cheeky re-edit or 20! Here, then, a score of such reworks are served up for your listening and dancing pleasure, with the emphasis firmly on lesser-known gems - sources include Ann Peebles, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Break Machine, Michael Sembello and Earl Flint, as well as US folk-rocker Barbara Keith's version of 'All Along The Watchtower', but there are plenty more that will have to go unidentified. Suffice to say, though, that if funk, disco, boogie, electro and pop from the 70s and 80s float your boat, this collection will leave you positively buoyant!
