Review: Next up from the Time Is Now crew, we see them pull together a very tidy link up as Y U QT lands inside for a rave-ready celebration of garage music across five floor-filling originals. We begin with the super groovy chord expressions and hard hitting drum rhythms of '5 A Day', before 'Keep On Lovin' Me' takes the sound a little more lo-fi with filtered drum arrangements and catchy vocal riffs. Next, 'Look Good' provides us with some colourful instrumentation and a shimmering violin tone, followed firstly by the more UK bass influenced LFO structures of 'Chopper, then the pulsating bass pressures of 'Hardly Keep It' to put the final touches on this wicked selection.

From the moment the razor sharp breaks jump out and slap you on 'Memories' you know you're in for a treat as we're taking on a wild rave ride that salutes to hardcore and prays at the church of rave just as much as it preaches the good word of jungle. Highlights include the paranoid pads and tension on 'Hypocrites', the soundsystem shaking crash cymbal slammer 'Running Out Of Time' and the series of versions of 'Wha Do Dem'. Review: Some seriously sweet ass edits again courtesy of the discerning Discoalition authority, a label based in Bordeaux (France) and managed by head honcho SEEN ON TV. First up A Digital Needle takes the razor to Bruni Pagan's 1979 digger's delight "Fantasy", UK heroes Imagination get an ergonomic edit too, but for DJ use only with Rare Cuts' version of their 1981 classic "So Good". Finally "One And Only" by Coutel has those feel good, summertime, soul disco vibes with a loop taken from a particular classic but we don't kiss and tell on this one: keep diggin'!

Review: Midnight Riot do their bit to address the much-discussed gender imbalance in dance music with a 25-track collection featuring an almost entirely female line-up (though a few possessors of Y-chromosomes do sneak in as collaborators). With big names like Kathy Brown, DJ Paulette, Rowetta, Caron Wheeler, Sulene Fleming and Natasha Kitty Katt nestling up alongside a host of more up-and-coming artists, the quality standard is high throughout, with the musical emphasis largely on good-time, Saturday night house and disco vibes, though there a few more gently paced moments - notably in the form of covers of Bobby Caldwell's 'What You Won't Do For Love' and Sade's 'Sweetest Taboo' - while Paulette & Massey serve up a pleasing dose of acid on 'Sheroes'.

Review: ChopShop Digital barely deviates from its' well-worn formula, which involves serving up multi-artist EPs full of tried-and-tested reworks. Happily, they're at it again here. BnC kicks things off with the break-driven funk shuffle of "Good Times Roll", before Woodhead & Hebegebe raise the temperature with the heavy funk-goes-Italo-disco surge of "Pony Up". West Country scalpel fiends Situation serve up the dusty soul sweetness of "Change For A Coke", while Senior Citizens attempt to outdo them with the similarly luscious and soulful "The Perfect Plan". Finally, label boss George Kelly steals the show with a killer re-cut of Willie Bobo/Ronnie Laws favourite "Always There".

Review: Since making his debut in 2015, Laurence Guy has barely put a foot wrong. In the process, he's delivered a string of fine releases for the likes of Church, Mule Musiq, Cin Cin, Studio barnhus and, most frequently, Shall Not Fade. His latest EP for the latter label is another gem-filled treat. The EP's most potent dancefloor-centric moments - the stomping, saucer-eyed, dreamy deep house-goes-acid techno wonder that is 'Your Good Times Are Here' and the twisted, sample-heavy oddity that is 'Yeh Good, You?' - are simply superb, while the quirkier, more downtempo bonus cuts (mournful, reverb-heavy piano ambient number 'Mutual Disappointment is a Terrible Thing' and the cut-and-paste, jazz-tinged loop oddity 'I Know You Feel Sad') are interesting and entertaining in equal measure.

Review: Five years, 50 releases, Ten Ton Beats imprint have contributed to underground D&B with a steady, gradual confidence. Not flooding the game but never falling off the radar, the label has been a consistent source of uncompromised heaviness. Here we celebrate this with a raffish cross-section of dancefloor styles that really do live up to the label's weighty title: the metallic bass rasps of "Missing In Action", the snare perfection and silky sub warps of "Deadly Force", the tongue-in-cheek Voltage-style mischief of "Funk Inspectors", the Twisted Individual barks of "Chapter". Technically some of these bangers weigh more like 12 or 13 tons. But that's our little secret.

A firing future funk document that's steeped in instrumentation and obese, floor-focussed dynamics and grooves so powerful they could bring an end to all comas, his organic signature is matched toe-to-toe with bold muscular production and anti-formulaic subversion. Highlights include the authentic 70s blacksploitation funk strutter "Get Down", the smoky, lazer-rasing Pretty Lights-esque "It's All Good" and the wholesome classic hip-hop jam "For The Love" with Talib Kweli. Say it loudly, say it proudly... Griz has gone next level on this one.

Review: In comes the remix! Griz's exceptional Good Will Prevail album gets the treatment from some of the best in their respective bass games. Review: DJs Pareja have been integral in defining the new-school of South American techno both as producers with releases on Cómeme, Turbo and Honey Soundsystem. For this release they arrive on Bryan Kessler's Do The Taboo label with this You & Me EP, sending in four tracks of pumping hard EBM material! With a tinge of Argentine flavour to all of the numbers here, its lead cut is an undeniable jam for the sweaty, fiesta-fuelled dancefloor. Applying some phase-action to the drums of "Macho Beat", trippy vocals add a touch of psychedelica to the record, while "Have A Good Time" holds it down as a dirty drum track with a 3D bubbling bassline and fluctuating synth line. Dany F then applies a stomping remix to "You & Me". DJs Pareja in the house!

Review: Do you want to hear a German producer get things so right you might never need to hear another liquid release in your life? Step right this way. Amaning has joined the Fokuz ranks for his first full-length LP, and within its 11 tracks are some incredible moments of pure D&B escapism. Opting to steer clear of the classic liquid route, his tunes each have a sense of his own individual sound creeping in at the corners, twisting things to another level. The "Time Warp" aspect comes from the seamless blend of faithful old school sampling and reproduction and brand new experimentations - it works and you know that it does.

Review: UK techno legend Colin McBean returns on his always reliable Phoenix G imprint with A Good Place? A dozen servings of tough and steely house music that properly brings the funk as you'd expect from the man once behind such legendary and seminal acts like The Advent and G-Flame & Mr. G. There's also a few wonderful surprises too; such as the broken beat/nu jazz deepness of "One For The Headz" or the dusty disco loops of "Interluded (part 1)". But otherwise it really is business as usual, such as on the hi octane stormer "Nothin' (Cause We Are Strong)" with its "French Kiss" style melody, the deeply emotive "In The Sun... Finally!" or the raw and rusty dust covered jack of "G's Jazz" it's all killer no filler on here we assure you!

Instead, Italian stalwart Ferreri has put together a truly excellent selection of house tracks that span from the very deepest, jazziest of grooves (see his own 'Jazz Imprint', for starters), to raw soul/disco strutters (Zove's 'Feeling', Soul Divide's 'Hanky Panky') to bump 'n' grind garage jams (Chemars' 'Deep At Night', to unashamed party starters like Filta Freqz' 'Dope Demand' and 'Da Hitman', which make free with big chunks lifted from classics by King Bee and Cutty Ranks/Eek-A-Mouse, respectively.
