Review: It's a case of "monster by name, monster by nature" here because opener 'King Of Disco Mountain' is an absolute BEAST, as Medina does for Mussorgsky's 'A Night On Bald Mountain' what Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band did for Beethoven back in the 70s. It'll either give you spine-tingles or a full-blown case of The Fear, but either way you won't forget it in a hurry. Elsewhere, 'Let's Do It Again' is based on an unknown disco/soul nugget from the satin sheets and 'Luudes school of thought, while 'Check The Rhime' reworks A Tribe Called Quest: both are very playable, but it's 'King...' that's the killer.

Review: Now on their seventh release, Scour are really coming into their own on the glitchfunk / bootleg game. Here we find Brighton-based turntablist Mr Stabalina laying down four furiously funky twists: "Rock The Party" rides one of the fattest organ lines we've heard in this field all year, "Freak The Funk" samples about 50 of your favourite records over a steady midrange Featurecast-flavoured bass lick while "We Can Do It Again" takes us deeper into bluesy territories with a big piano riff and some really nerdy/brilliant cut & paste narration. Finally "Don't Stop" concludes where we started: juicy fruit organs and a latent sense of funk that's so tangible you can taste it. Ridiculous.

Review: The tragic passing of DJ Rashad adds a heaviness to this release on Southern Belle, which finds the footwork trailblazer on searing form on a short and bittersweet four tracker. The title track is stark in its rapid fire arrangement of drums, while the vocal commands drill out a precise set of mantras. Rashad's regular cohort DJ Spinn chips in on "Come On Girl" which gets even more frenetic in its calls, while DJ Manny weighs in with the pair for the more melodically rounded "Do It Again" with its musical female hooks and a lighter touch on the beats. Gant-Man brings some Chaka Khan firepower to "Somethin 'Bout The Things You Do" that will surely set many a footwork dance alight with crowd-pleasing finesse.
