Review: Interdimensional Transmissions label owner Brendan M Gillen (BMG) teams up again with long-serving Detroit DJ Plaslaiko for a deep techno/electro workout. The title track, available here in two versions, moves from the fuzzy, acid-soaked instrumental take to the original version, which navigates a path through electro-bass frequencies, acidic pulses and ponderous, pitch-bent vocals. For the rest of the release, the duo focuses on an abstract approach. "Breaking You Down" is an esoteric soundtrack of bleeps and tones; "Your Mind Is Mine" continues the pair's interest in frazzled drones - only this time without even the semblance of a groove to back it up.
Review: In the last six months, Volta Cab has managed to prick the ears of some significant underground tastemakers with his deep and glossy take on house music. There's something gorgeously Balaeric about many of his productions, which effortlessly fuse classic deep house grooves with lovely live instrumental touches. This fourth single release from the Western Russian features plenty of that sun-ripened warmth (see lead cut "Be Madly In Love", the lazy Balearic house of "Shame On Me" and the title track's squidgy nu-disco/deep house fusion), plus a thrillingly low-slung late night rework of "Be Madly In Love" from Daniel Bortz.
