Review: With Ibiza's extended summer season almost upon us, Toolroom has served up a suitably epic collection of cuts that it expects to be big on the White Isle this summer. Label boss Mark Knight has provided a trio of DJ mixes ("Poolside", "Club" and "Afterclub") and the unmixed tracks included all fit into these loose categories. There's not enough room to list all of the highlights, but we've been enjoying the funk-fuelled disco-house rush of Illyus and Barrientos' "The One", the sleazy, bass-heavy bounce of Max Chapman's "Steppa", the acid-powered tech-house-jack of Del-30's "Gravity" and the weighty, mind-altering thump of "Low End Theory" by Eli Brown.

Review: With 30 tracks to choose, there's no faulting the value for money on offer with this latest Salsoul collection, but a note of caution should perhaps be sounded: if you've only just discovered Salsoul and are doing some exploring, then this isn't the best collection to start with, because most of the label's best-loved tunes already featured on Volume 1, back in 2017. That potential commercial weakness is also, however, the album's greatest strength, because it's the more obscure cuts that will be of most interest to long-term fans... and there are plenty of both! With a mixture of ACTUAL original mixes plus a few contemporary rerubs from the likes of Dave Lee and Danny Krivit, this is a worthwhile and rewarding addition to the ever-growing roster of Salsoul comps.

Review: Sadly, the music of Winchester is nowhere near as famous as its legendary cathedral (or, in fact, the snooty public school of the same name). That's mainly because Tom Eno seems to be the city's sole producer of note. Over the years, the folksy, organic beatmaker has produced some decidedly tasty cuts, as this belated compilation of tracks and remixes proves. The mood is breezy and summery, touching on accordion-laden flamenco dub (Dusty's remix of "Estrella"), ska-inclined dancefloor jams (Eno's remix of Diego and the Disidents), ultra deep and soulful house (a terrific remix of Bristol beatmaker Benjamin One) and disco-tinged 4/4 funk (a soaring version of Upskiboo's "Running Like This").
