Review: Groove Committee's "I Want To Know", produced by Victor Simonelli and a huge club anthem on its initial release on Nu Groove back in 1991, is something of a timeless US house classic. It's nice to see, then, that these new remixes are suitably reverential to Simonelli's original. Revivalist house specialist Nicholas (no stranger to reworking old Nu Groove classics) joins forces with fellow Italian Marcoradi to deliver a brilliantly breezy, piano-heavy take that perfectly captures the spirit of the original. DJ Steaw thickens the beats and adds a little acid spice on his similarly piano-centric rework, while Demetrio Giannice opts for a vintage Italian deep house vibe on his pleasingly tactile take.

Review: Last year, Joeski popped up on Cajmere's Relief Records imprint with a dash of "Acid Disco". On his second Crosstown Rebels appearance, the long-serving producer explores similar territory, serving up "Acid" and "Disco" variants of the sleazy and enticing "I Want You". It's arguably the former version, with its? piercing TB-303 lines, jacking drums, Hipp-E and Halo style dubbed-out rifss and wonky, spoken word vocals that hits home hardest. It's certainly both big room and peak-time friendly. The "Disco Mix" is still impressive though, featuring as it does looser drums, warmer bass and some choice guitar samples from Cymade's superb "Dove". While certainly evocative, it lacks the feral appeal of the wilder "Acid Mix".

Review: Victor Simonelli's Groove Committee alias inspired much of the upbeat vocal house we hear today thanks to seminal releases on Nu Groove Records in the early '90s. Simonelli's "I Want You To Know", from the eponymous EP released in '91, enjoys a rerelease and remix overhaul on the upstart Deep Down Slam label. Inner Sense's Knows The Truth mix boosts the overall presence of Simonelli's original, by reinforcing the drums, hats and chords with deft touches of neoteric sound design, while Deep Down Slam label-head Washerman opts for cut up and interspersed vocals and loopy instrumentation in his mix. French house ball of fire Kool Vibe, turns up the heat - and punch - in his chord riffing remix, paying homage to a originator that's no doubt influenced his own productions.

Review: The fifth instalment of this series is a reminder of the impact that KMS had on dance music . Right across the spectrum, Kevin Saunderson's releases shaped the future. A case in point is Esser'ay's "Forces", one of the KMS owner's many pseudonyms. The track's use of rumbling sub-bass and booming vocals proved influential in both garage and drum'n'bass - and it still sounds fresh. Part 5 features other similar landmark tracks. Review: Clocking in at 50 tracks, Tour shows that the German label isn't just about naive trance melodies and rickety, minimal beats. It starts with the deep ambience of Tominic's "Shine", which over the course of nine minutes moves into bleepy, minimal pulses. In contrast, there's the dubby house of Paul Bart's "Call It Anything You Want" and David Heckhausen's "Hang Zur Sonne Paul", a clicky, mid-tempo groove covered in organic textures. Despite this, trance fans won't be left disappointed; there's the buzzsaw bass and organic textures of Theo Meier's "Eichhorn", the gentle, spiralling melodies of Peet's seductive "Timers" and best of all, the brittle rhythm and day-glo hooks on Reinier Zonneveld's "Gevorderd Spelers".

Review: A new mix from perennial party faves Soul Clap is always a cause for celebration, but there's something extra-special about this particular exercise in dancefloor nostalgia. Nice 'N' Ripe Allstars sees them revisit the bulging back catalogue of Grant Nelson's Nice 'N' Ripe label, an imprint that has tracked the rise, fall and subsequent rebirth of UK garage since its' birth in 1993. Soul Clap's mix - an action-packed 30-track affair featuring some of their own edits and remixes of classic cuts - does a great job in showcasing the best the label has to offer, flitting between early US garage style jams, loose soulful house, sturdy two-step, bass-heavy speed garage and the kind of long-lost jams which should be bitten by today's retro-minded house producers. In doing so, it offers an impeccable history lesson.

It's a pretty monumental project, showcasing the best of the combination between old and new UK garage in it's richest formats. Despite the tracklisting being super stacked, our highlights would have to include the dreamy landscapes of Undertone's Instant Mood Vocal mix of 'Let It Be' from Xavier, alongside Solution's Doctor dub mix of 'You', put together originally by the exceptional combo of Fully Loaded Project, Karl Brown & Todd Edwards. There are naturally some suitably big cuts present - see Kerri Chandler's fine mix of N-Joi's "Anthem" and Todd Terry's rub of Martha Walsh's "Runaround" - but for the most part the selections will be new to all but a small collection of veteran US garage enthusiasts. Our highlights include the riff-powered goodness of Slam Mode's "100% Power", Marshall Jefferson's deep dub of Screamin' Rachael's "Rock Me" and the soulful rush of Donald O's "Everything's Gonna Be Alright".

Review: It wouldn't be summer without every house label under the sun releasing an Ibiza-themed compilation. To be fair to Dave Lee's long-running Z Records imprint, they've been delivering White Isle-themed collections every summer for many years. Given that their sound - a blend of funk-fuelled grooves, soulful house, tech-tinged anthems, disco re-edits, boogie revivalism and classic US garage influences - is well suited to sun-drenched alfresco parties, it's little surprise to find that Z Records Presents Ibiza 2015 is rather good. While much of the standout material comes from Lee himself under a variety of guises (check, in particular, the Doug Willis jam "Crystal Lover"), there are also top-notch cuts from Sean McCabe, Opolopo and Fibre Foundation, whose cover of disco/boogie classic "Weekend" is simply superb.

Review: Undoubtedly the strongest selling point of Z Records' second set of "Dubstrumentals" (largely instrumental remixes to you and me) is the sheer number of previously unreleased mixes on offer. Sure, the quality of the disco and house cuts on show is uniformly excellent but it's unusual to get so many previously unheard treats in one place. There are some genuine gems, too, including a sparkling Hot Toddy nu-disco instrumental mix of Joey Negro's "Stomp Your Feet", an inspired Saison instrumental of Akabu & Linda Clifford's "Ride The Storm" that features two exquisite extended breakdowns, a must-have "Disco Blend Instrumental" of Joey Negro and Horse Meat Disco's "Candidate For Love", and a stellar, proto-house style dub of The APX's "Sweet Surrender".

Review: Mark Knight & Co. are straight up with their latest title - but considering their current 15th birthday celebrations, these guys can do whatever they want - they hardly do wrong anyway! House, Tech House, Techno Vol 2 does exactly what is says on the tin with a whopping 62 tracks and three continuous mixes - each dedicated to said subgenre. From that massive remix of Fatboy Slim's "Right Here, Right Now" by current scene favourites CamelPhat, Saved main man Nic Fanciulli's collaboration with Damon Albarn on "Saying" (Kolsch remix), label head honcho Knight himself steps up to deliver the pumping and white noise filled "We Get High From The Music" (feat Mr V) and the inimitable Danny Howells is always welcome - particularly with a track as electrifying as the recently released "Isolar".

Review: With Ibiza's extended summer season almost upon us, Toolroom has served up a suitably epic collection of cuts that it expects to be big on the White Isle this summer. Label boss Mark Knight has provided a trio of DJ mixes ("Poolside", "Club" and "Afterclub") and the unmixed tracks included all fit into these loose categories. There's not enough room to list all of the highlights, but we've been enjoying the funk-fuelled disco-house rush of Illyus and Barrientos' "The One", the sleazy, bass-heavy bounce of Max Chapman's "Steppa", the acid-powered tech-house-jack of Del-30's "Gravity" and the weighty, mind-altering thump of "Low End Theory" by Eli Brown.

Review: As you'd expect, given the label's runaway success over the past few years, there are plenty of very familiar cuts on this 52-track 'best of' from the all-conquering Toolroom, including GotSome's tribal smash 'Nomad Chat', label boss Mark Knight's infuriatingly catchy, flute-driven Shovell collab 'Selecao', Mendo's sample-heavy G-houser 'Mooving' and CamelPhat's remix of Fatboy Slim. But there are plenty of less heavily rinsed gems on offer too, and with tracks from the likes of D.Ramirez, Leftwing & Kody, Dosem, DJ S.K.T and Dale Howard plus reworks of Sterling Void and Todd Terry classics, it's a no-brainer for tech-house jocks on a budget.

Review: Jiggy Joe (that's his real name, we've checked his birth certificate) has been a little silent since his previous three bootleg bonus packs came our way last year, but it's clear he's been busy toiling away at his machines to create this monster selection. He leads with "Didgeridoo" which sounds like the Chems circa Exit Planet Dust but with added hype-fuelled lyrics. The two remixes by Bobby C and Funkanomics take it to completely different party pastures, making it a great release in its own right before you even get to the cheeky reworks elsewhere on the package. "Sweets For The Tiger" is the balls out theme Rocky would've endured a million montages for. "Ready Or What?" is the best Fugees remake since Hype got heavy on them years ago while "Tell Me Do You Like It" sees Joe taking a Mylo-favoured sample and making it his very own. Get Jiggy!

Review: It's that time again; west coast institution Dirtybird announce this year's Campout Compilation featuring an all-star cast who serve up some seriously bass-heavy tech house party vibes for the real freaks! Review: Hot on the heels of September's first volume comes this second installment of contemporary funk and breaks cuts from Pecoe, an Australian who ran the popular Breakzlinkz website for 10 years before making the move into production. The EP packs five original cuts, plus remixes of four of 'em - not sure why 'Take A Stand' missed out! - with the originals falling loosely under the funk-hop/funk-breaks umbrella while the remixes generally add a little more dancefloor grit. As such, diehard funkateers may turn their noses up but fans of the Plumps, Stantons etc would do well to check this EP out.

The latest comes from Midnight Riot, a prolific imprint that rarely fails to serve up the fieriest contemporary disco heat. Review: There's a distinctly old school flavour to this compilation as Thee Cool Cats take to the controls. Patrick Topping's "Forget" sees the fast-rising producer serve up insane rave stabs and diva vocal samples over insistent cowbells and slamming beats, while Catz'n'Dogz mine a different part of 90s music culture. The duo's "Booty Comes First" is inspired by the rude and raucous sound of ghetto house, as pre-orgasmic moans and a slamming rhythm reinforce the vocal that "yo booty comes first". At the other end of the emotional spectrum, Tough Love impress greatly with the acid-laced, soulful house of "Dreams", while the next generation of Detroit techno, fronted by Dantiez Saunderson and working with Altus Project returns to early 90s US house with the vocal-led "I Need You".

Review: Despite debuting way back in 2007, Wanderlust marks the full-length debut of Belgian analogue enthusiast Metrobox (AKA producer Berten De Beukelaer). The album format offers him an opportunity to showcase his wide palette of influences, from drowsy, blue-eyed synth-soul (opener "At Night (When I See The Light)", the electro-tinged "Messing About"), revivalist new beat ("Bounce Bounce Baby"), and melodious Italian deep house ("Ten Thousand Thundering Typhoons"), to krautrock ("Wanderlust"), vintage Chicago jack ("F (Want You To)"), and acid-influenced late night darkness (the undulating throb of "Erotic Psychotic Hypnotic Freak"). Given his classically trained history, it's perhaps unsurprising that the album is also immaculately produced.
