Review: As a final outing of the year, DJ Pencil & The Cut Up Boys have joined forces with the ever-ready STEP2 team for a smokey backdrop of remixes, celebrating the full release of their anthemic 'Grooverider 2023'. The original track focuses on stuttered bass stabs and tidy vocal samples, giving us some exciting elements to play with. The project features fourteen spicy reworks from the likes of Dan Speed, DJ Lix, DJ True, Richard Wright and more, giving us a range of styles from jungle to 4x4. Our highlights have to include Daffy's moody rethink, focussing on gnarly sub-growls, and of course the rave-ready D&B overhaul from Chase Perry, giving the original and entirely different feel. Review: With UK Garage becoming one of the most crowded spaces within UK dance music over the past three years, finding a way to stand out and maintain a high level of originality has become imperative in keeping a sound at the top of the tree. Thankfully, that's exactly what Starkey P has in the locker, as we open up this scrumptious three-tracker with the spacious designs of 'Love Me Harder', a futuristic chop through alluring vocal slices and fluttering melodic dives. Next, the remixes emerge as DJ Pencil & The Cut Up Boys first give the track a much more 2-step influenced spin, with Dan Speed's more gritty, bass-influenced overhaul giving us a nice closer to the project.

Review: New school garage will always put a smile on our faces, especially when it is approached with as much enthusiasm as both DJ Pencil and The Cut Up Boys always seem to bring to the table. Taking the title 'Flute Of Babylon', we see an amalgamation of classic 2-step vocal chops, party-starting drum sweeps and gnarly bass manipulation unleashed in one fabulous ball of fun, followed closely by four potent additional remixes. Firstly, Richard Wright gives the track a more squeaky feel, focussing on choppy drums and high ended bass notation, followed by both the tripletted drum stings of Rodent's overhaul and the junglist marvels of the Dark Dean & Hankinson rethink. Finally, Dan Speed unveils a sweeping sizzle of a remix to close up, focussing on high energy 4x4 drum rolls and some tasty bass action to match.

Review: Holy smokes! Deep In The Jungle is now 10 years old! Huge props to the label bossman - and all-round G - DJ Hybrid who's smashed the label's repertoire and reputation over the years. Just look at the artists who've contributed to the label over the years. Lavery, Sl8r, Hungry T, RMS, Conrad Subs, Epicentre and so many more established jungle talents have all enjoyed a DITJ boost over the years and this massive VA is a reminder of that. 50 cuts from across the last decade, we're not even going to insult the rollcall here picking highlights - this is a huge collection that's essential for anyone looking to stack up on authentic jungle productions and represent one of the coolest, most consistent labels in the jungle dnb world.

Review: Melbourne is becoming quite the breeding ground for burgeoning disco-house talent these days isn't it? We've had Tornado Wallace and Fantastic Man, and now The Tortoise (aka Torquhil Anderson) steps up to the plate with a debut release on the excellent 3rd Strike imprint. The three original tracks on offer are filter-heavy jams that flit effortlessly between disco loops and deep house atmospherics. Meanwhile Berlin's resident South Korean disco head, Hunee, adds his inimitable touch to "Next Time Around", adding some raw house bump to the original.
