Review: Following his "Bloodclart Dubplate" EP this spring, Warhead returns to Sub-liminal with another generous five pack punch up that ranges from divine funk to guttural low end filth. The title track is one of Warhead's funkiest cuts to date with its urgent vocal and spacious sense of soul and freedom. It's joined by the sweeping gully drones of "Embers", the knuckle scuffing gritty bass of "Kill Ya Quick", the dizzy tribal rolls and jittering grizzles of "Start The Attack" and the siren blazing hair raiser "Watch It". You'll excuse us the full track-by-track, then, but suffice to say that this is the label that helped launch the careers of Dr Packer and Natasha Kitty Katt, both of whom feature here, and with names like Ziggy Phunk, Rayko, Alkalino, Chuggin' Edits and Fabiolous Barker also on bill, you should already have a pretty good idea what to expect. Review: Fokuz specialize in lush, liquid beats and so it's to be expected that Fokuz & Friends Vol 3 will be nothing less than a culmination of this. Right you are, as we are plunged into the Fokuz utopia straight away courtesy of a sumptuous cut from the Contract Killers called "The Life Moments"; this is swiftly followed up by a jazzy little number from Alix Perez & Redeyes ("Watching U"), plus a killer from Command Strange & Intelligent Manners - "Talking About Love" - which is all subdued atmospherics and pattering beats. Review: If you like your jungle then this release should be right up your street, because it's essentially six tracks of straight up jungle heat. Our personal favourite is Pablo G's remix of J.O.E's 'What You Gonna Do', which has a wicked drop that comes off the back of a load of really soulful sampling work. It has proper old school vibes all over it and the whole arrangement works really well. Every other track is pretty much just as good, with wobbling sines, big old reece basses and a truckload of stuttering breaksy magic, Oooh yeah!

Review: Since first appearing on Midnight Riot earlier this year, scalpel-wielding re-edit duo South Beach Recycling has closely guarded their identities. Whoever they are, they have a knack for turning dusty disco jams - either well-known, or more obscure - into dancefloor gold, usually via a few well-placed filters, good chops, judicious use of loops and expert re-arrangements. This second EP is arguably stronger than their debut, containing as it does the string drenched, anthem-like swoops and builds of "Independent", the Latin-tinged, electric piano heavy summer madness of "Still Know U", and the on-point Afro-disco business of "Sanisha". Best of all, though, is "Satisfaction Action", a ten-minute trip into high-tempo disco-funk-meets-boogie territory.

Two tracks we definitely would like to point out as interesting highlights for this one have to include 'Shards', a lethal future-bashment arrangement from Casement, alongside Champion Sound's explosive jungle rework of Turn Ya Lights On from Escape Roots & Dark Angel.
