Review: This is a bit of a treat for funk breaks fans, as leading label Boogie Boutique gathers together a selection of its finest floor-filling bangers. With cheeky mash-ups and bootleg remixes from the likes of Hayz, Ursula 1000 and Nick Fonkyson, there's much to enjoy, not least the sheer silliness of some of the rump-shaking fusions. Check, for example, the anthemic grooves of Nine Lives The Cat's "Let Me In" (a brilliantly executed fusion of "Just Be Good To Me" and "Cross The Tracks") or Badboe's "Show Me Ghetto". None of the cuts will win you brownie points with chin-strokers, but they'll certainly smash up the dance - and that's all that matters.

Review: In terms of legendary status for labels over on the jungle/jump-up side of the scene, it's pretty hard to beat Serial Killaz. Run by the duo of the same name, the imprint has arrived with the second instalment of their mixtape series and it's unsurprisingly good. Full of big tunes from guys like Serial Killaz themselves, Vital Elements and Upgrade, it's the latter of these guys that takes the cake with 'Steel Drum'. You've probably heard this one doing the rounds and it's actually already been released, but oh boy what a tune this is: a screaming, siren-lake mash of grating metallic synths and punching drums all come together to make an unstoppably good piece of music. Don't sleep on the rest of these tunes though, and a special mention goes to DJ Hybrid's 'Beatbox' - naught jungle vibes.

It's 20 tracks fat and, as you'd expect from such a prolific and hard working artist, it's well worth the wait. Featuring collabs with the likes of Rider Shafique, Diligent Fingers, Madrush MC, Redders and MC Foxy, there's a lot of next level action to unpack but instant head-slicers include the space age purrs and twists of 'Find Your Way', the menacing darkness and sparse funk of 'Pull Out Ya Piece' and the bouncing and swagger of 'Live For Yourself.' Review: Hailing from Coventry, DJ Hybrid has firmly established himself over the last couple of years as someone at the forefront of D&B's re-discovered love for jungle-influences and bouncy but hard-hitting basslines. Drawing upon those influences, he's back on Audio Addict for a full-throated six-tracker that kicks off with 'Take A Look' featuring RMS, a gently weighted sine-based wobbler that pushes on every corner of the range. 'Rapture and 'Swordplay' have clear Kings of the Rollers vibes, with juddering bass pulses and that recognizable sense of hardware-based rawness. This release has overtones of Manchester and undertones of the South - proper UK underground stuff.

Review: This is a big release, both literally and metaphorically. Sitting at 58 tracks, it's clear that the Dub Damage crew wanted to pack as many of their best moments as they possible could into the album. If you're a jump-up fan, think of this as a bit like the holy grail of jump-up and the inclusion of remixes and originals from dons like Original Sin, Annix, Turno and Sub Zero cement that fact. Aside from those legends, DJ Alpha comes through with 'The Man With The Golden Gun', a riotous blend of punched out bass synths, whilst Kre & Basshoven low-key steal the show with 'Toronto Blue'. A fat album this, and a lesson in how to do compilations right.

Review: Swiss booty dealers Tremendo launch a new series and the title says it all. The label's established funk sound is still in abundance, but it rolls with a heavier bass twist. In some places the low end urgency is more obvious than others - DJ Soo and Tim Livingstone's earworm bassline rips through "Boom!" with true musical mischief while Father Funk's "Feel The Beat Y'All" is less dirty and more cheeky with its classic swing motifs and occasional wobbles. Elsewhere we hear Jayl Funk pay homage to classic 60s funk, Trotters and Telephunken munching on raw squidgy bass and El Bomba getting all slinky and sexy. Get dirty.

Six tracks long, it's an expression of pure jungle and drum & bass; no pretensions, no frills, no rubbish. There's also new sounds and textures that we haven't heard all that much from Hybrid, as the Tron-esque synths of 'Swan Song' build into a rolling crescendo of chopped up basslines and rabid drum breaks. There's more classic jungle vibes on 'Biggest Baddest' and 'Jumble Jungle', as well as more considered breaks on 'Grasshopper'. Review: Mind Of A Dragon quietly slips in another fine album here, this time through the Red Balloon Dubs imprint, and we finally have to say that this producer is underrated among the world of riding garage talents. Moreover, Keep Cracking On is a pure LP, with all its tunes working for each other rather than next to each other; subtle garage infusions grow and shrink with total balance, starting off with docile drum swings that slowly develop into jazzier, more melodic frameworks, and finally into veritable club steppers with a vintage frame of mind that still sounds fresh and unchallenged. Don't sleep!

Review: Crashing up your bandicoots one by one, Alphaze hits hard with the jump up juju on his new EP 'Aku Aku'. Six tracks deep, each one grittier and grottier than ever, the whole EP is a no holds barred attack on the senses with many levels and shades of dark funk along the way. Featuring collabs with the likes of Magenta and Jack Reeves, highlights on the EP include the twisted grizzles and distorted skanks of 'Stoned' (with Magenta) the all-out scatty drama and energy of 'Mad People' and the gut-wrenching finale fire 'Dramatic' (with Jack Reeves) Aku Aku... Review: The unstoppable, unrelenting, unmissable sounds of DJ Hybrid continue as he returns to Boom 93 with this feisty five-piece of slappers, bangers and bubblers. 'Comeback' sets the tone with its pitched up vocals and slippery bass harmonics. It's backed up by a whole load of jungle delights including highlights such as guitar-twanging fire-up 'Reach For The Lazers', the savage blasts of the Noisia-supported 'Don't Touch That Dial' and the wonderfully slinky fretless bassline on 'One For The Headz'. Good vibes doesn't even begin to describe the scenario and energy on display here. Booming marvellous.
