Review: Real talk: Ulterior Motive are back with their biggest release since their Headz album The Fourth Wall. Last spotted on Shogun last spring for their 100th release series, they now deliver four cream cuts that smack of the rootsy, uncompromised ageless signature that's secured their premiership role in the first place. Ben Verse adds lyrical edge to the elastic funk of "The Real", "Jungle Jam" is an absolute hoot with layers of classical elements and wry humour in the bass textures, "I Remember" reminds us of their soulful side with the dulcet class of James Sunderland while "Tech2" rips up the closing curtains with an absolute Blue Note blunderbuss of a stepper on "Tech2". Feel the realness.
