Review: A new Mr Oizo album is always something to celebrate, and like Flying Lotus, the quirky French producer's music, as strenuous as it can be, never gets tiring. Quentin Dupieux proves again he hasn't lost it, amalgamating old school Ed Banger beats and snares with frenetic footwork, gnarly arpeggios and breezy chords. If you loved Analog Worms Attack and Moustache (Half A Scissor), and the Steak album, there's no doubting you'll warm to this too, especially when it comes to tracks like "Mass Doom" and "Ham". If Lambs Anger was more your thing, get ready to embrace tracks like "ISoap" and for something grittier check out "The Church".

Crookers & Mr Oizo - "Johnny Depp" - (4:42) 123 BPM Hot
Crookers - "They Comin'" - (3:58) 125 BPM
Crookers & Mr Oizo - "Johnny Depp" (Nikki Nair & DJ ADHD remix) - (4:32) 135 BPM
Review: Mr Oizo hooks up with Crookers for a raw release that transcends genres. Crookers fly solo on "They Comin'", where vocal samples echo against dubbed out drums and razor-sharp percussion. The counterpoint between these elements makes for a wonderfully understated, spaced out techno track. "Johnny Depp", Crookers' collaboration with Mr Oizo, is more earthy. Powered by a rubbery bass and concrete kicks, it is peppered with dramatic French vocal samples and glassy synths. Label regulars
Nikki Nair & DJ ADHD are tapped to rework "Johnny Depp". In their hands, it takes on a radically different shape. Upping the tempo and layering the arrangement with feedback, they turn in a galloping peak-time banger that resounds to dramatic screeches and tortured tones.

Review: Their first label compilation since 2008, Busy P rallies up his talented troops for a collection of exclusive tracks to celebrate a decade of electro excellence. And we mean excellence. Each cut sparkles with its maker's idiosyncrasies; Krazy Baldhead lays down his most textured cosmic melodies, Busy P gets sleazy and old school Chicago with Thunderbird Gerard, Justice give their star-gazing air-guitar basher a truly majestic rework and Oizo gets his slo-mo hammer on with some gorgeous jacking de-pitched synth stabs. There's loads more to chew on here, and not a dull moment throughout. Here's to another decade.

Review: Brainfeeder as a project have been known to bring together the weird and wonderful, more often than not supplying the world with stunning original music. This latest compilation from them celebrates 10 years of the label, putting Flying Lotus's visions into reality. We explore previously undiscovered realms of futuristic hip hop production, with immediate stand outs being the the unpredictable neurotic drum crunches of 'Delusions' from Little Snake, along with the pulsating drum work and 4x4 flavours of 'Squaz' courtesy of Ross From Friends. Another shout out has to go to FlyLo himself as he teams up with Busdriver for a super skat heavy run out on 'Ain't No Coming Back'. This one is a fantastic listen from start to finish.

Review: Back in 2016, Ed Banger main man and nu-rave scene stalwart Pedro Winter AKA Busy P delivered a particularly excitable DJ mix that was affixed to the front of copies of Mixmag. Now the long-running magazine has decided to make it available as a paid-for download, with a big chunk of sales revenue going to the producers and remixers who feature. It remains a hugely entertaining excursion, with Winter quickly charging between glassy-eyed synth-pop (Breakbot, as remixed by Fatima Yamaha), mangled electro-pop cheeriness (Justice), contemporary French house (Mr Oizo, Cassius and Pharrell Williams), cowbell-sporting acid house revivalism (Playgroup, Kiddy Smile), Middle Eastern headiness (Acid Arab), and the raw Sheffield sleaze of Crooked Man.
