The Mole - "Hippy Speedball" - (6:53) 121 BPM Hot
Dexter - "X7D" - (6:20) 125 BPM
Matthew Styles - "Liquid Sky" - (6:28) 126 BPM
Jon McMillion - "T-Station" - (6:54) 116 BPM
Review: Pulling together the unreleased gems from Nick Hoppner's entry into the burgeoning Panorama Bar CD series, this digital accoutrement comes brimming with quality that matches functionality with imagination. Things start off decidedly funky with The Mole laying down a discoid bassline and maintaining his groove longer than he might normally do. Dexter comes correct with a brooding slice of tech-house that plays off a growling bassline and quirky dabs of synth, while Matthew Styles lets dubby feedback reign supreme on the melodic part of "Liquid Sky". Jon McMillon rounds proceedings off in fine style with the subdued slow-mo of "T-Station".

Review: Deekline enlists the skills of Feyder and Steppa Style for two monstrous skank-wise reggae bubblers; The Spruddy One-featured "Overcome" and the Ragga Twins-fronted "Sound Burial". The former flexes with a rapid Eek-A-Mouse-style vocals while the latter rips with the hype you'd expect from Deman Rockers and Flinty Badman. Version-wise we're also treated to reggae, dancehall and instrumental versions, each one adding serious roots authenticity.

Review: Before we say anything, here's what the artist blurb said: "This is what happens when 3 Tumblr personalities manage to transcend time and space and use virtual reality to create some of the most warped ghetto house and techno this side of Second Life." There is no way we're going to argue with that. Heavy duty aggression mixed with a massive dose of slow-release intensity reaching through each tune makes this four tracker a must-cop for techno and deep house heads looking for something harder. Be brave. Just try it, you never know, you might like it.

Steppa Style/DJ Vadim - "Sweet Love" (FeyDer remix) - (5:31) 176 BPM
Review: Russian ragga vibes: skank merchant Feyder lays down a squishy, bounce-happy groove laden with perky organs, rasping snares and blaring sirens with enough space for Steppa Style to melodically extol the virtues of murderation. Deeper into the EP we hit a slightly sharper twist from Jamie Bostron and a gully amen-smashing, old school-minded shake-up of Steppa Style and DJ Vadim's "Sweet Love". Murder, love and rollers... What more do you need?

Junglist Warrior/Conquered
Junglist Warrior - (3:33) 176 BPM Hot
Conquered - (5:04) 174 BPM
Review: Blimey here's a super-collabo if ever we've seen one! Russian breaks queen Lady Waks teams up with two of the busiest and most prolific bass acts in the game; Deekline and Freestylers. And that's before we even get to the vocal titans causing absolute murderation with the bars. Instantly recognisable, juicy and party-primed, "Junglist Warrior" has every act's signature stamped all over it and will absolutely crush any dance its faced with. So will "Conquered" as it takes us on a slightly deeper flex with some delicious honeyed vocals warming us up for another bumping bassline hook. Heavy.

Sample & Hold - (2:19) 126 BPM
Polee - (7:29) 126 BPM
Galaxy 21 - (6:18) 126 BPM Hot
Review: Amazingly, it's been some three years since the last single from former Crosstown Rebels and Music For Freaks mainstay Matthew Styles. As you'd perhaps expect given its release by Running Back, this comeback EP is pretty good, with the hirsute producer offering up a variety of flavours across the five tracks. The title track, for example, is little more than a freaky, beatless DJ tool, while "Polee" channels the spirit of space disco and Chicago jack. "Scale" is unfashionably deep and careful, whilst "Galaxy 21" is a heavy percussion work-out with a twist. All are overshadowed by impressive lead cut "Don't Call Me Again", which sounds like a swinging house take on the classic Carl Craig sound.

Veak - "Selecta" - (4:54) 175 BPM Hot
Danny Styles - "Jungle Superieur" - (4:32) 175 BPM
Review: Wind your derrieres! Veak and Danny Styles go toe-to-toe, point-to-point, lip-to-lip on the first in a new series from San Diego junglist family The Foundation. One fierce Frenchman, one UK foundation legend, both cuts rattle and shake hard. Veak goes on a classic jungle rinse-out with 'Selecta'. Powerhouse breaks, a juicy fruit sub bass, sunny-side skanks and twists and turns that would sit nicely in a Remarc set, it's a timeless homage to jungle's most enduring characteristics. Danny Styles, meanwhile, flips for a much starker slice of jungle futurism. Ice cold feels and disarming vocal samples. J'adore!

Metro - (6:52) 128 BPM Hot
Wave 6 - (2:38) 160 BPM
Border - (6:59) 125 BPM
Review: Matthew Styles is by no means prolific - just 12 releases in 10 years - but still manages to bring a distinctive touch to each production. In this instance, Styles' first EP for Ostgut following an appearance on one of the Panorama Bar samplers, there's a rough and bleary feel to each composition. This sensibility manifests itself in different ways; the title track is a stepping, broken beat affair laced with acid, while the contemplative "Wave 6" sounds like it was created by the Mike Huckaby-loved synth. The only out and out dance floor track, "Border", is also notable thanks to its shimmering, sleek chords and rolling house beats.

Gladiators Volume 2
Pablo G - "Shine Eye Girl" - (5:14) 175 BPM Hot
Danny Styles - "Shine Eye Girl" (remix) - (4:27) 175 BPM
Review: In the harsh environment of the gladiatorial ring, only the strongest survive. Whilst admittedly there are quite a lot of differences between the Coliseum and the rave, one big key similarity is this: the bigger, the better. Danny Styles and Pablo G are channeling that mantra into this versus single, in which Pablo G's 'Shine Eye Girl' goes up against Danny Style's remix. Both tracks are wicked and we love the roughness and the energy in the basses, but Pablo's original might just have squeezed it, just because the sample is used perfectly to inject that extra funk element. Wicked release.

Gladiators Volume One
Conrad Subs - "Next Chapter" - (5:10) 174 BPM Hot
Danny Styles - "Bad Mind People" - (6:06) 174 BPM
Review: When you hear the world gladiator, what image comes into your mind? For most, it'll be the traditional image of Roman-era combat, or maybe even Russell Crowe's rendition of that combat. Conrad Subs and Danny Styles clearly have a different conception about what it means to be a gladiator, one that's rooted more in the urban-edged nature of modern jungle and D&B than the bloody struggles of antiquity. Conrad Subs kicks things off with 'Next Chapter' and its quintessential Subs, with some classic sampling and a spicey, bouncing bassline that wraps itself round the stuttering drum break. Danny Styles' Bad Man People is a rolling, warped number than ramps up the intensity even more - wicked stuff.

Bombstrikes Vol 15
Party People - (3:21)
Shake Like Ya Mama - (3:35) Hot
Review: This instalment in the long running Bombstrikes series sees Nick Thayer teaming up with fellow Aussie breakbeat producer and self-styled DubRave don Will Styles on this pair of incendiary party starters. "Party People" is a bouncing, "Where's Your Head At" sampling gem which utilises its numerous hip-hop cut ups to great effect, its shining robot electro vibe guaranteed to get you moving. "Shake Like Ya Mama" meanwhile is equally as fun, taking the classic riff from "Walk This Way" and fattening it up with analogue leads and more infectious hip-hop vocal work.

Review: Never has a track been so accurately titled. Coming on like the demented imaginings of a bunch of laughing gas-guzzling nutters (or, in this case, Crookers and Style Of Eye), "That Laughing Track" features swathces of maniacal laughter layered over the sort of gut-busting, scattergun rave percussion that should send ravers absolutely bonkers. There's a bulging remix package to enjoy, too, featuring bombastic reworks from Milano (thrillingly pulsating), Sona Vabos (bouncy bass-house), Sound of Stereo (eye-watering electro-house messiness) and TWR72 (brain-melting fidget bounce).

Review: Back in the 90s, US techno producer Steve Stoll released an EP on white vinyl in the shape of a circular saw. The art for the latest release on DJ Haus' label looks similar to that release - and doesn't sound radically different either. In fact, the only real difference to Stoll's 1995 release is the absence of forceful acid pulses - otherwise, P.O.L Style's "Saw" and the "Saw 2" version crackle with insistent percussion, insistent stabs and an insistent, jacking rhythm. Remixes from Mike Q and Neana, which add a banging, drum-heavy sensibility to the original "Saw", complete the package.

Review: Russian ragamuffinski Steppa Style bumps up to Totally Dubwise with the follow-up to 2014's still-toasty See The World. Once again it's a vibrant church that's all rooted by reggae and digidub cornerstones. From the rising skanks and gutsy harmonis of "Musical Murder" to the bouncy soundsystem-primed bass of "Ready We Ready" via the rougher rapid-fire flow of "Road", he sets the scene perfect for an immense jungle skank-out for the second half of the album: the savage spitfire feels of "Raggamuffinski", the Aphordite style jumps of "Rolling Stone" and the Chopstickesque party ragga jam "Step Aside" The vibey list goes on and on.

Review: In 2012 Joe Amaral started becoming immersed in his local Toronto club scene. Inspired by the bleeding edge sounds he was hearing, he quickly started making music on a similar tip. Now we have "Interchanger", his latest tune backed up with a further four sizzling mixes. The original is a game-changing new interpretation of classic bass music - rolling snares, fizzy synth stabs and celestial, shimmering chimes. Elsewhere we get a start-stop half time bass growler from ASMR, perky and light feel-good beats from Lamont Dex, a wobbly stomper from Strange Rollers, whilst Ochtone ups the synth quota on his interpretation.

Review: Once again Steppa Style is back, fresh with his first 2015 single release from his See The World epic. Cementing himself as Russia's Number 1 'Raggaematical Junglist' (could there be any others?), this time we see Dirty Dubsters and 6Blocc take their shots at the breakout track, originally built by none other than Benny Page. Showcasing the '90s dancehall sound at it's best, Dublin's Dirty Dubsters get things bubbling nicely, and when USA junglist 6Blocc takes his turn things start beging to really flow. If you want raggamuffin sounds, you've got it. If you want to get up and dance, it's here. Take yourself less seriously and have a bit of fun.

Review: Proper internatty business; Russian beats, UK vocals and 100 per cent Jamaican vibes abound on an Irish label as Hunta extolls the virtues of wholesomeness and gumption over a juicy step-sharpened rhythm. Remix-wise Max Rubadub strips the groove back and gets busy on the synth horns, with both Dirty Dubsters and Dialect & Kosine get grizzly on classic jungle tips. The former go for an Urban Takeover style bass-bitten jump up flavour while the latter get skankwise in a similar way to Aries or Jacky Murda. Get to work.

Review: Bass=Win baron Tubbs has never been shy of a co-lab or two. But going head to head against himself? This is a whole new level in low-end schizophrenia. Dusting off his old Infekto gloves (and recruiting the lyrical skills of Steppa Style), Rico expertly repurposes the well known guitar riff from Barrington Levy's "Murderer" and flips it into a timeless energetic breaks track. Reminiscent of the 'Stylers back around the early thousands, this will slap several shades of sweaty from any skank-minded dance.

Review: It's 2017 and you can finally have your cake and eat it. It's all down to Jungle Cakes head chefs Deekline and Ed Solo who have been working hard in the bass kitchen since the foundation days. Here we find them in five Michelin star mode as they serve up a banquet of creations both from their own and their peers' menus. Highlights across this incredible D&B banquet abound from the moment Craze and Infiltrata's (aka 12th Planet) classic "Things Just Ain't The Same 4 Gangstas" opens the collection and Firefox's (aka Roni Size) seminal "Keep It Raw" headbutts us a few tracks later. Elsewhere the Jungle Cakes dons treat us to skanked-out banger after skanked-out banger; Spyda's iconic vocals and the hornets nest b-line on "Soundsystem Entertainer", Tippa's harmonic heaven on "Pass Me The Dubplate" and one of the nastiest remixes Deekline's notorious "Don't Smoke" has ever experienced. Loaded with an array of cool FX and two continuous mixes, this is a true jungle feast. What a time to be alive.

Review: Given the recent upsurge in interest in the back catalogue of seminal Chicago label Dance Mania - particularly the ghetto booty side of their output - it seems fitting that Strut have finally given the label the retrospective treatment it so richly deserves. The whole story is here, from the early jack tracks of Hercules, The Housemaster Boyz and Victor Romero, to the stomping rhythms of DJ Funk, Dj Deeon and Robert Armani (whose ghetto-meets-acid jam "Ambulance" is a riotous highlight). Along the way, there are classics aplenty, alongside lesser-known gems from the vaults (see Parris Mitchell Project's ace "Ghetto Shout Out (feat Wax Master)" and Paul Johnson's thrilling "Feel My MF Bass"). Whether you're a Chicago house connoisseur or not, this should be essential listening.

Review: 2018 was a certified vintage for Serial Killaz' self titled label as they dropped a stunning slew of singles, EPs, albums and mixtapes. In case you missed anything, these are just some of the many heavers, heaters and hurters that dropped throughout the year. Highlights include the toad-like bass and Spyda's iconic vocals on "Imitation Soundbwoy", the island charm and snaking rolls of Limited's "Sun", DJ Vapour's absolutely pummelling hardcore slap-about "Damage Your Sound" and Leaf's other-planetary freak-out "Night Time Vultures." Review: Joey Negro focuses entirely on the Brit Funk movement of the 1970s and 80s on his latest mix compilation. The twenty-three tracks provide an extensive history on the genre and contain a number of extremely rare and very sought after crate digging collectables. Avoiding the huge hits of the scene which appear on retrospectives the world over, Negro unleashes a host of the genre's underground club hits that remained only on the local scene, many of which were re-edited by Negro exclusively for this compilation. Do not miss this.

Tony Humphries - "Running Back Mastermix" (continuous DJ mix) - (1:12:49) 120 BPM
Review: The choice of Tony Humphries to mix Running Back's first label compilation is a significant one. Getting his big break in the early '80s as an understudy for the legendary Shep Pettibone's Kiss FM show, Humphries went on to become one of the defining DJs of house music's formative years, with residencies at New Jersey's Club Zanzibar and London's Ministry of Sound. His previous mixes illustrate his continuing ability to bridge dance music's past and present and his new one for Gerd Janson's imprint will mark its fifteenth anniversary. It is a timely reminder of what has made the Frankfurt powerhouse remain on many favourite label lists for over a decade. It's a mix of golden oldies and recent classics alike: from Todd Terje's smash hit from several years ago "Ragysh" and the anthemic "The Voice From Planet Love" by Precious System, through to more recent bombs. Two by Running back alumnus Shan ("Bassline Party"/"Work It") and the legendary Mr G's Motor City ode "Ben & Gerd" (Killin It M Day).

Review: Regroup and lounge, put on a couple of pounds, Russian hair-raisers Lowriderz retreat back to Serial Killaz after a few heavyweight missives on Original Key and it's badboy business as usual. With a strong foundation vibe running throughout, "Back" goes all-in with sandpaper funk bass and classic rap sample while "Dub Horn" and "No Shop Talk" kick up a little raggamuffin jungle mischief. Elsewhere "Dubplate" is a classic snub-nosed jump-up gutter puncher while "Stop" twists up another seminal vocal over an Annix-style rifle bassline. Business is booming.

Review: 24 Karat presumably get their name from the measurement for gold and this compilation is, by any stretch of the imagination, full of weight. Featuring tunes from artists old and new in the 24 Karat camp, this album stretches across 17 heavy, dancefloor numbers. The first outing, 'Heavy Hitters' by Danny Styles, is classic funk-into-dancefloor vibes and we love the array of twisting, snarling basses that fans of this producer will recognise. Danny is a regular throughout this one and he nails it consistently. Shouts also to Faysha on the sweet 'Heavy', as well as Keith Patience on thee crazy jungle number that is 'HeadShot'. Big.

Review: All time original jungle label outta Caledonian Road, London, is 24 Karat, a platform that since its inception in '94 has tirelessly delivered all matter of drum and bass that over the years has morphed through hip hop, grime and trap while remaining a central port of call for UK club culture. Deep into 2020 the label presents Heavy Hitters: Volume Two - a 23-track large compilation that brings back productions from new signings Armada, DugBass, Destiny and Sasha Khan ("Soundclash") to established regulars and in-house pioneers like DJ Direkt, Keith Patience, Pablo G and label boss Danny Styles. Introducing new flavours from the freshly signed H2O and Juxt with the dreddly "Danger Dubs", other highlights include DJ Direkt & Faysha's demented "Killa" alongside the the grubby dubs and rave of Dugbass in "The Lies". It's a knockout.

Review: It's been 16 months since the release of the second installment of John 'Zoo Brazil' Anderson's Songs For Clubs series. This third volume is, then, long overdue. As with its' predecessors, Songs For Clubs 3 lives up to its name, with Anderson picking out (and mixing, on the included bonus DJ mix) an atmospheric blend of tracks from across the deep house, tech-house and minimal-influenced techno spectrum. The tracklist is certainly strong, with contributions from Tiefschwarz, Michael Mayer, The Revenge (the brilliant "Incredible Shellsuit"), Romanthony and Matthew Styles, whose thrilling "Dominion" is probably the collection's standout moment. That said, Copyright's big room deep house banger "Submarine" certainly pushes it close.

Review: Russian label Liquid Brilliants return to their stridently upbeat Riders EP series for a second time, with six tracks of typically summer flushed rolling beats dipped in liquid excellence. Jammy kicks things off with "Spend the Night With Me" which expertly lines some chipmunked R & B vocals alongside warm melodies. Alongside it Haik-Adu & Londy's "4 Forward" implements a similarly liquefied rhythmic approach to a naggingly familiar and sweetly soulful sample. Elsewhere the brilliantly titled "Root Beer Float" sees Bank draw on lilting Oriental tones over a sinewy bassline, whilst Three20 drops the biggest sounding roller here with the expansive tough workout "Care Package".

Review: Wooi to the oi, Camo Tribe look back over this strange old year we call 2021 and compile the biggest and baddest of their releases on this one collection. Weighing in 56 tracks, there's a lot to unpack here with far too many highlights to mention individually. But with a spread that ranges from the high end trills and high voltage energy of Smokin' Keys' 'So High' and goes all the way the timeless subby fluctuations and dubby vocals of Temper Dee's 'Lion Hart' via the dreamy rave pads and thunderous bass of DJ Uniques' 'A Little Love', you know there's something for everyone. Camo: hiding in plain sight, vibing with plain hype.

Review: Camo Tribe have been surfing the radar of true school drum and bass now for two years now, who again rise to the surface with a a 22-track large compilation. Full of unique artists, monikers, aliases, collaborations and pseudonyms, Camo Tribe's expression comes through low key urban junglisms like C.E.'s "Are You For Real" next to UK hardcore and rave in S-Man's "Clash Tings". You'll find an undeniable classic edge and retroactive refreshments in numbers by Destiny, DJ Evil E and Conrad Sub, to the devilish dubs of Jumanji, Danny Styles "Get Mad (1996 Unreleased Dubplate)" and DJ Direkt.

Review: As far as labels go, there aren't many who have been floating around the bass music scene for as long as Future Follower Records. It seems that they have a point to prove here as they unveil an absolute goliath of a project, featuring fifty stunning original creations, packing a perfectly processed punch to round out 2019. The project as a whole finds itself landing between bass, breaks and garage, with some incredibly catchy productions involved, including Dephex's warbling 'Warfare', the super metallic shuffles inside the Bean VIP mix of 9TRANE's 'Heard Me' and the bass blasts of DubReaper's 'Ask Me'. There is something for everyone on this massive selection, giving the Future Follower camp a perfect send off to 2019.

Kasper & Kasio - "Give In" - (6:25) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Classically-trained musician Kasper might count the violin and the piano as his accomplished instruments but deep and expressive drum & bass is his obsession, producing big, swaggering basslines from his home in Minneapolis. Not a place often thought of when discussing the genre, his sound resonates more with the UK scene, taking hints of breakbeat culture and the warm undertones of classic, soulful D&B. Suited perfectly to the stylings of modern liquid, "South Side Dreams" is a collection of intelligent rhythms and big bass. Not overstated but not undersold either, he's got a bright future ahead of him.

Review: Irish Moss recordings: promoting positive vibes in reggae and bass music culture. They don't fail to deliver on their mission statement here, so check this out. Ireland's DJ Obese and Jay Sharp team up again for a full length that is serious fire! "Mr Willams Dirty Dubsterz Meets Special Request" gives us a well rolled lowdown that's hard to argue with. Feel the bass on "Back To Boom City" where Blackout JA tells the truth; blunted style. There's some female MCs on here too such as on "Blue Fishes" (with Soom T's smooth delivery) and there's drum and bass on "I Love" and we'll give you just one guess what they're referring to? We know what you're thinking and don't worry: there's some killer bashment vibes on tracks like "Domino". Jah!

Review: Fans of true vintage UKG can now rejoice as here we have an unusual set-up featuring the best work of '90s garage producer Teebone, mixed in an hour-long set by 2-step hero DJ Pied Piper. It's a fast and furious romp too, with no less than 30 tracks squeezed in. Highlights include the unmistakingly British garage anthem "Fly Bi" featuring MC Kie and MC Sparks, the deep 2-step cut "Sweat (mix 1)" and the raw, underground beats of "London Sum Ting".

Review: Allow the likes of Templeton Peck & EFJ, Teebone and Maximum Style to deliver a most refined selection of pure garage class. Taking in ballroom sounds of club, R&B and house, all the hallmarks of this undeniable sound come together across a whopping 26-tracks. And leafing through you'll find touches of jazz, dub and vocoders in TP & EFJs "Fever" - with their Dream Team dubplate mix to "Don't Stop" going all the way with one of the most luscious basslines you'll hear this side of the genre. Skippier, stripped and pitching effects are on show in Teebone & Thomas Jules Scott's "Everytime I Think Of You (Lost Files mix 2)", with singer JB Rose featuring in an assortment of Maximum Style numbers be they full in full in "Admit To Luv" to something more cut up in 'Wake Up".

Review: KLP Records are turning 25, a crazy achievement that puts them right up there with Metalheadz et al, and so they're celebrating with a big compilation of tunes. Nicky Blackmarket, Klips & Outlaw kick things off on remix duties for DJ Monk's Touch Me, Tease Me. It's a classic combination of artists and the end result is equally timeless, with a sense of vocal softness descending into hard percussive knocks and grating jump-up synth work. It sets the tone for the rest of the album, which features contributions from Dublic, DJ QT, DJ Vapour and a load more. Unbelievable.

Necro - "Deathfunk" (Scapo remix) - (5:32) 130 BPM

Beat Muffin Style - "Perfussion" (Original Mix) - (5:15) 136 BPM Hot
Beat Muffin Style - "Open Front" - (6:47) 136 BPM
X3Mal & Igash - "Thunderstorm" - (6:05) 134 BPM
Igash - "Time Warp" - (5:04) 136 BPM
X3Mal - "Metsu" - (5:47) 129 BPM
Review: From breakbeat producer Necro and his KindCrime label comes this first instalment of global breaks from a varied cast of producers. Necro himself leads the way, with his own "Deathfunk" getting a severe industrial breaks rerub from Scabo, while Ukrainian duo Beat Muffin Style drop two newies - the electro-wobbler "By The Way" and the heavy, D&B-influenced "Perfussion". Alongside more punishing bass-breaks action from X3Mal and Igash, this makes for an explosive set of warped bangers.

Review: Denver label Plush Recordings proudly present a decidedly plump retrospective of their output from the past two years. Across the count'em 36 tracks some familiar names are naturally present displaying the various slants on the Plush output - be it gloriously liquid funk or half step hip hop embellishments to more atmospheric strands of the drum and bass. Commencing in style with the jazzy textures of Contract Killers, the subsequent and exhaustive selection contains highlights almost too numerous to pick out and thus our best advice is to let you dig in and find your own favourites!

Review: 'Unity' lands at a time when we need it the most; an emphatic stamp down on all forms of racism in the industry and in life in general. A unified voice from a wide range of drum & bass and jungle artists from all generations and styles, each cut reps the scene its most positive and talented light. From Murk's pulverising 'Space' to SCALEZ body-slamming riff monster 'Nightfall' to the buzzy, slinky roller 'Acts Of Predjudice' by OG Danny Styles, this is the sound of the scene coming together and saying what needs to be said. Every single penny of this will go towards the charity Show Racism The Red Card. You know what to do.
