Review: Drum & bass from a techno perspective; Current Value's 14th album (yes 14!!) flips the switch and turns things inside out once again. Stark and, at points, highly abstract, the album takes a deeper route than previous CV LPs such as The All Attracting and Puer but still absolutely hammers and annihilates when it needs to... The anti-capitalist marching jam 'GREED' is a stomping, surging slice of pulsating tech tackle, the title track 'Platinum Scatter' and 'Eternal Recurrence' are rifle-like showers of euphoric bullets while 'TNM' is take the new 4x4 style of D&B to some stern and unforgiving places. These are just a small handful of highlights on yet another thoughtful and well considered concept LP from one of drum & bass music's most unique individuals.

Special moments can be found on each and every twist and turn the collection takes from UFO and Bro Safari's brand new project ET Finger to the new technoid inspired alias of Hybris - Pruvan. Review: Doc Scott continues to invite new friends to the fold with another surprise appearance from an artist you might not immediately associate with 31. Following the likes of Serum and J:Kenzo comes German production giant/neuro don Current Value with four supreme workouts; "Bigger Picture" opens with big breezes before dropping into an itchy, scratchy sandpaper funk bass riff, "Major Fracture" has a hook so sharp it could rip holes in the time space continuum, "Reconsider" is all about the latent groove in the rattling percussion while the title track arrests all attention with its unabashed ode to sci-fi. Crucial.

Review: A tremendous effort here from some sterling artists who traverse the boundaries of bass music, distorting sounds and manipulating frequencies to the extreme... behold the Subland EP Part 2. Kicking off with Current Value's low slung snorting cut "The Impact", it's all stuttering drums and whirring SFX a-plenty here in a decidedly bleak soundscape. Loop Stepwalker ups the ante in his searing dubstep riddim "Immortal Feelings" which juxtaposes a sparse, contemplative intro with tearing main part. Dean Rodwell's "In Rain" follows with enormous belches and bass bellows, before his follow up collab with Species "Home" which ends the EP.

Review: Variety is the name of the game as Berlin's Tim Eliot unleashes a quad of uncompromising bass compositions. It all kicks off with "So Loud", a glittering, wafty, dreamer of groove with warm kicks and psychedelic twists. Things get much darker from here on: "Experiment" is a crunchy, industrial halfstepper while "Go Offline" is fractured and more fearless again, sounding akin to an alien invasion circa Hollywood late 60s. "Gear Up" ends us on a more of a classic metallic stabby bass style. Loud, gritty and nasty: just how we like it.
