Review: Enough spring to Bruce up your sheen... Dancing In The Dark takes on a whole new meaning as pioneer Fresh and young maverick Buunshin collide for one of the biggest tunes of 2022 so far. Booming bass, all manner of switches and a drama that's bigger than every Eastenders cliffhanger combined, it's backed by a plutonium-packed re-chunkification of Fresh's 2008 anthem 'Heavyweight' by the number one DJ A.M.C and the dark soul contrasts of 'Sunset' where lullaby vocals iron out the booming drone bass creases. What a way to re-launch BBK.
Review: Few names command respect on a Mampi level. Even when he promises his new album for over two years, he still retains his crown. Listen to tracks like these and it's easy to understand why; "Back To 92" is a pastiche of the best detuned synths and ugliest breaks of the era, all brought together with today's production muscle. "The Spirits", meanwhile, is plain tear-out banshee business (think Ram Trilogy) The rest of the EP sees Swift remastering three Charge classics for the modern day: his Fresh collaboration "Play Me" still ruffles the finest hairs on your spine while the sci-fi tones and twangs of Friction's "3rd Planet" still sound futuristic. Finally we hit Blame's "Stay Forever". A straight-up string-drenched anthem from one of drum & bass's most interesting creative chapters, it still has total relevance to this day.
Review: So much win! The legend that is DJ Fresh, the super-hot new-gen talent Buunshin, the return of one of drum & bass music's most iconic early 2000s labels (which gave the world Pendulum)... We're not just dancing in the dark to this epic banger, we're dancing in the light, the twilight, the dusk, the dawn and any shade or hue of light in between. Hell this is such a big track, we're dancing in the nuddy, too. Massiveness and an early contender for tune of the year. We don't need to say any more than that.
