Review: Oasis marks a welcome return to action for Darius Vaikas, who last pricked the collective consciousness with his 2015 Guilt EP on Best Kept Secret. He begins with "Brother", a crackly instrumental lullaby built around cascading music box melodies, rich keys and fuzzy aural textures, before stepping towards the dancefloor via the atmospheric deep house shuffle of "The Bells". Title track "Oasis" continues on a similar theme, with alternately chiming and tumbling melodies stretching out across a clicking, tech-tinged rhythm track. Throw in rising chords and synthesizer motifs, and you have a chunk of effortlessly lazy audio sunshine. Finally, he layers swirling textures and fluid electronics atop a stuff house groove on fine closer "Save Me".

Review: "!Kollections" banner. Each focuses on a certain aspect of the long-running label's vast back catalogue. The fourth edition, for example, focused on disco. "Reflections", the latest volume, is not as tight stylistically and instead gathers together tracks that tend towards the deep, poignant, beautiful and melancholy. There are many treats amongst the 27 showcased selections, with highlights including an impeccable chunk of string-laden downtempo pop from DJ Tennis and Fink, a dreamy slice of loved-up house warmth from Lone, the bustling, dream house era Mediterranean holiday memories of Mugwump's "God is Gracious" and the thrusting, big room-friendly late night hypnotism of Dubfire's "Dust Devil".

Review: This EP is the first of two electro-themed releases due before the end of 2021 on Club Designs, and it's an impressive collection. From the speak-and-spell vocals on Sometimes Never's "Back on my BS" and Sharkki's "Style Factory" to the low-slung groove and acid buzz of Ludwig Lurch's "Unity", fans of old school electro will find much to love here. However, the compilation has some more esoteric moments, most notably on the reflective synths of Garneau & Ghostwhip's "Weirdos R Us". In the main though, this is a good time electro funk collection, as popping "Best Boy" by Darius The Barbarian & Cherriep so brilliantly illustrates.
