Review: Having previously emerged with a 12" release on Bad Taste and a download on Secret Songs, Druid Cloak now steps up to deliver a new release for Apothecary Compositions fusing a whole range of styles from grime to footwork via a predilection for spooky imagery. "Wraithborne Falls" comes to life with orchestral bombast before whipping into a rapid-fire melee of sample triggering, while "Quills" is a slower if no less lively cut with a touch of trap in its rhythmic structure. The dramatic strings come on heavy throughout the min album, stringing together a variety of tempos to make for a cohesive and rather haunting release.

Review: Mystical and mysterious sub-beats, presumably from the US but.. Who knows? The dark, atmospheric and junglised dubstep of the "Throwing Snow Interpretation" is epic in its execution, while "Minotaur" is a dark industrial soundscape that's not for the faint of heart. The ambience of "Wolff" in Morkebla's translation is chilling, while for something a bit more floaty and full of bass there's Strict Face's rework of "Quills" - and for some further low end therapy check out Silkersoft's remake of "Ballad Of The Shadowprince". Some worthwhile variations of Druid's previous work on offer on this release.

Review: Off-Switch Audio have had a pretty powerful last 18 months of releases, with this brand new four track delight from Druid fitting into that collection perfectly. We begin our journey through this one with a look at 'Cyber Dub', a colourful feast of synthetic design and padded atmospherics, exploring the more ethereal side of 140 music, before the lethal sub designs and sweeping synth action of 'Digital Terminal' run riot. Next, we take it to a more minimal place as 'Dred Pirate' focuses on heavily dubbed out delays and reverberated melody, before Nuboid gets busy with a skippy, 2-step take on 'Digital Terminal' to round us out with a bang!

Review: Label owner Galtier teams up with Druid to deliver a distinctive, at times psychedelic take on bass. Galtier's "Gilga's Zkull" is a frenetic workout, with jagged breaks and tribal drums setting a frenetic pace - and dropping to reveal dreamy, detuned synths. It makes for a woozy but clubby sound. "Body Horror", a collaboration with Druid, reveals a more tranced out style, as epic hooks are set to a lurching bassline. And the grandly titled collaborative effort, "Bayou of Metamorphoses", also features trance elements - this time entwined in a frenetic, rolling rhythm. Rounding off the release is Druid's raucous solo drum'n'bass track, "Soft Machine".
