Review: In terms of legendary status for labels over on the jungle/jump-up side of the scene, it's pretty hard to beat Serial Killaz. Run by the duo of the same name, the imprint has arrived with the second instalment of their mixtape series and it's unsurprisingly good. Full of big tunes from guys like Serial Killaz themselves, Vital Elements and Upgrade, it's the latter of these guys that takes the cake with 'Steel Drum'. You've probably heard this one doing the rounds and it's actually already been released, but oh boy what a tune this is: a screaming, siren-lake mash of grating metallic synths and punching drums all come together to make an unstoppably good piece of music. Don't sleep on the rest of these tunes though, and a special mention goes to DJ Hybrid's 'Beatbox' - naught jungle vibes.

Review: To celebrate 250 parties, Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter, the residents at and organisers of Mister Saturday Night, have put together this wonderful compilation. It starts with the offbeat folk of Menelik Wossenatchu's "Tezeta" and the glorious, soulful disco of Soul Bros Inc's "Pyramid". The compilation veers back towards electronic sounds on the stripped back deep house of ESB's "On Cue" and the bleepy "Aches" from Baba Stiltz. FaltyDL's "Hardcourage" bridges the gap between the abstract and dance-floor structures, Marcellus Pittman drops the acid-soaked Detroit house of "There's Somebody Out There" and Kerrier District delivers the lush electronic disco of "Let's Dance and Freak".Then & Now is a wide-eyed, freewheeling compilation that captures the long-running New York party's essence.

Review: For this mighty selection, we see Mystic State land on the incredibly impressive Artikal Music imprint for another absolute shellout, this time consisting of two tasty solo pieces and two corking collaborations. The title track 'Tomahawk' makes the most of a twisted, eastern-sounding string line, pressed between moogy bass plucks and crispy percussive elements to match. Next up, the VIP mix of Hemisphere is unleashed, jam packed with neurotic bass twists and sharp drum patterns. We then move into the remixes, as the legendary J:Kenzo joins the party for the sub-heavy expressions of 'Competition', before JFO's additional input on 'Cuatro' wraps the EP up with some serious sauce.

Artikal is one of the front runners without a shadow of a doubt and this new Mystic State project proves exactly why. We begin with the hypnotic reversed melodies of the title track 'Mahdi', backed up with potent sub structures below, before diving further into the deep with the subtle reese growls of 'Nines'. We finish up with a look at the amazonian percussive rolls and succulent bass tones of 'Hemisphere', wrapping up one tasty meal indeed.

Review: Gunfingers at the ready gang, Lickwood & Gunshot fire up the shots with their biggest release to date; a 20 track stacked banger bonanza from some of the sharpest new shooters in town. It's business from the off as Visuals gets busy with the cantankerous kicks and sing-along vocals on "Lights Out" and it continues to hit the target right the way through to DJ Direkt's skittering, paranoid finale "Too Hawt". Highlight heat can be found in every corner across the collection; Pablo G gets all slinky in the jungle on "The Rumbler", Jomari's "Yuh Na Hear" is a lesson in restrained ruffage, B-Plexx's "Remedy" soothes the soul with its breathy vocal and bubbly bassline, the list goes on... Review: Rotterdam frequency maestro Mystic Pulse steps over to Totally Dubwise for two warm-as-toast dub jams. "Who Do Dem" is an instant call-to-action as it flexes the distinctive gruff tones of Daddy Freddy over a bold striding groove. "Pass Me The Lighta Riddim" strips the vibe back to Mystic Pulse's atmospheric signature. Big melodic hooks spiral across the ardent skanks before we taken deeper and deeper down the dub hole. Big moves.

Review: The title here pretty much says it all, as Midnight Riot serve up a 20-track 'best of' collection that's replete with quality disco- and boogie-inspired house nuggets. Review: Well following on from a number of impressive dubstep events across the full spectrum of the scene, The Deep Heads team have matched that all with this incredible new compilation as they deliver the third edition of their incredible 'Deep Heads' series. This star-studded lineup is pretty breath-taking, with the likes of Kromestar, Biome, Om Unit, Sukh Knight, Synkro & more all delivering some serious bassweight. The tracklisting is made up of 24 wicked originals, with our favourites actually coming from some of the lesser established faces on the project. These include the likes of Mystic State's sumptuous 'Society' original alongside Astrid, which boasts serious 'Anti-Social' vibes. Review: The Artikal team are back in business with this latest juicy drop as they welcome the ever-ready mystic state to the table with a bulbous four track selection. We open up with the jittering melodic backdrops and delicate drum designs of 'Gallows', a fearsome title track, jam-packed with gnarly bass goodness and eerie atmospherics, of course amplified by the unmistakable vocal presence of PAV4N. From here, the dubwise side of Mystic's character rises to the top as 'Understand' delivers a chord driven dip into delayed percussion and sweeping subs, before Jack-Flynn Oakley joins the party on the sizzling bass crunches and scuttling rhythms of 'Blinded'. Finally, the subtle Asian string work and hard hitting bass notation of 'Inner Sanctum' gives us another powerful feature to round the EP off. Excellent work!
