Review: In terms of legendary status for labels over on the jungle/jump-up side of the scene, it's pretty hard to beat Serial Killaz. Run by the duo of the same name, the imprint has arrived with the second instalment of their mixtape series and it's unsurprisingly good. Full of big tunes from guys like Serial Killaz themselves, Vital Elements and Upgrade, it's the latter of these guys that takes the cake with 'Steel Drum'. You've probably heard this one doing the rounds and it's actually already been released, but oh boy what a tune this is: a screaming, siren-lake mash of grating metallic synths and punching drums all come together to make an unstoppably good piece of music. Don't sleep on the rest of these tunes though, and a special mention goes to DJ Hybrid's 'Beatbox' - naught jungle vibes.

Review: Killaz by name, killer by nature; Vital Elements and Tobie Scopes' continue to set the agenda as DJs, artists and as label owners. This third annual mix-up is certainly no exception as they plough through 59 tracks - many of which are brand new exclusives - to paint a picture of exactly where drum & bass is at right now. A thick smelly melting pot, everything is thrown into the mix: Upgrade's spine-trembling harmonics on "The Voice", ruded-out bassline badness from Voltage ("My DJ"), various jump-up hybrid creepers from Russian newcomer Ozma, brand new dark wobble lava from Serial Killaz themselves ("Rudebwoyz") the list goes on and on. This is a huge package and it comes with a superb mix too. Treat yourselves or defeat yourselves.

Review: Spark up! It's national greens day once again and Serial Killaz are celebrating this with '420 Time', an unruly collection of 25 vaguely weed related titles and themes. The result is a full-on knees-up that covers a vast amount of D&B ground. From Upgrade's sticky-fingered moderation mission 'Ganja' to Harley D's sweet swinging sing-along 'Bud Business' via a collection of Top Cat fronted bubblers and so much more, this is a fine way to celebrate 420 and your favourite genre at the same time. Puff puff pass!

Review: Time for a little Russian rough housing: Playaz continue to rep the next-gen with this caustic five-piece from St Petersburg pirate Ozma. It's a riot from the off with the off-beat, clipped stabs of "Lazer Gun" hitting in a wonderfully weirded-out seasick kinda way. Other highlights include the sandpaper "Bar Fight" style bass scuffs f "Fiesta", the pitched percussion hits and toxic bassline of "Laboratory" and the all-out glitch frenzy of "Letters". Lazer fingers at the ready, prepare to fire!

Review: The newest offering on the renowned Serial Killaz imprint is courtesy of Ozma, whose sound is perfectly suited for a label which has been built on the reputations of its founders, which is substantial after years of bringing their jungle-jump up crossover to UK clubs. The title track kicks off with a powerful introduction to build suspense before flipping into a pitched-up monstrosity of jump-up proportions - certified club banger. The rest of the release is moodier and darker, with techy yet raw tones abounding on every cut. 'Iron Hammer VIP' is the perfect example, with a rough, diving back end that's akin to the lovechild of DLR and Serum except over a halftime beat. Big release.

Review: Take the sound of a million rifles firing in your face. That's the level of power and ferociousness we're dealing with from this St Petersburg pact: Multi Function regular Ozma and Claypso Muzak affiliate Lowriderz. "Assassins" is the million gun facial salute, "Burr Bwoy" is a concentrated can of mosh whoop-ass while "Bone Crunching" lives up to its name with its multi-textured basses and creeped out arpeggio. Finally we're taken to the theatre for all the fun of the orchestral fair on the gully galloping "Break Your Move". You want more? You got it... A neck breaking remix from Klay. Knock out.

Review: Here is a man who needs no introduction, DJ SS has been a part of drum and bass' heritage since jungle was a mere twinkle in acid house's eye. You can't flick through any recorded history of our beloved genre without stumbling upon this DJ's well revered name. Trust us when we tell you he knows his stuff. Listening to the mixed album version of this LP you can't help but lose yourself in the up front barrage of sonic mastery. Get ready for a fast paced switch and blend with 20 badass tracks showcased in less than a hour for this commemorative LP celebrating the 10 year anniversary of The World of Drum and Bass in Moscow. The album starts with the epic harmonised vocals of the 2017 edit of last summer's smasher 'Forgive Me Lord', before descending into a twisted onslaught of mutated darkness. The LP the continues to move through a killer collection of metalic, grinding dancefloor, devilishly intense neuro and a whole heap of distorted, techy nastiness. A huge highlight of the collection for us is the second track, DJ SS's 'Midnight In Moscow'. The energy is insane, intense risers, a filthy squelching sub and constant requests of our visa. Another high point would be North Base's 'Ring Of Saturn'. For us the latter part of the album really is the fantastic finale the mix deserves, winding the vibe down, while still keeping the energy strong. Tracks like 'Waterfall' and 'Staring At Infinity' mix lulling vocals, real instruments and a funky groove to soften the end the LP.

Review: Having slapped us with a brutal fatal glitch earlier this year, Russian riot-maker Ozma returns to Multi Function with another four sonic scuds: "White Noise" is a buzzy, rattling sweat session that's not dissimilar to the work of Tyke or Hazard. "Your Love Higher VIP" is a much deeper stepper with a subtle twist on the bass for followers of the original. Deeper into the EP we're taken on a Dimension-style arena-shred flex with "Said Never" and pushed into glorious slo-motion freefall on the militant techno-like "Run". Never say never.
