Review: Having released on other labels, UFO95 is now launching Archive as a dedicated platform for his own material. "Bassian" gets the EP off to a frenetic start. Garbled robotic vocals unfold over visceral analogue stabs and pounding kicks. "Granite Rose" sees him follow a similar direction. While he ups the tempo, the focus remains on a gnarly sound, realised through the use of noisy drums. "Weird Knight" is a more stripped back affair. Based around an angular, jacking rhythm, it is reminiscent of Neil Landstrumm's early interpretations of Chicago jack. UFO95 rounds off the release in fine form, with "Glasblord". It's a high-paced angular groove peppered with electronic bursts of noise.

Review: UFO95 is the latest producer to land on Tresor - and Backward Improvement packs a powerful punch. "Fragment" is a robust, ebm-themed workout. Led by a pounding bass, it shoots shards of spiky percussion through the speakers. On "Gargk", he changes tact, dropping a frenetic break beat track led by atmospheric synths and warbling synths. "Solar" marks another shift in sound - over a punishing groove, UFO95 rains down coruscating riffs. "Cogitor" is also a bruising piece, but with a different approach as steely drums prevail. Meanwhile, "Sexual Tension" sees intense tones and a vocal sample unfold over a relentless groove - the kind of track that will have the desired impact on Tresor's main floor.

Review: It's been a massive 2018 for Punks, who have continuously been putting out banger after banger. Nothing sums up the level at which they have been performing better than the second edition of their BBQ Beats compilation, this time featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Stanton Warriors, Nixon, Donkong, Plump DJ's and many more. For us the instant standouts have to be Wes Smith with his super groovy 'Rave On' composition along with Outlord's dubwise breakbeat fusion in 'Down The House'. A special shout has to go to Beatslappaz for their stomping contribution in 'The Drop', which is also an instant piece of rave dynamite.

Review: Beyond the Outer Limits by Cult of the UFO is a new solo recording project by Anthony Barker and is the third release by Enlightenment Records. Due to Barker being an integral contributor to the music of Overlords of the UFO, the four tracks maintain the trademark retro analogue sci-fi vibe you've come to know from him, although with a more contemporary edge. Electro meets Italo sounds on the neon-lit adventure "Alien Voodoo", followed by the elevating "Children Of The Gods" and heads-down number electro beat "Sound Isn't Real".
