Review: Rome-born, Berlin-based producer Dr Sud is undoubtedly a talent on the rise - as this expansive EP for Dutch-German imprint Q1E2 Recordings proves. He sets his stall out with 'Brina', an ultra-deep, immersive and melodious affair built around broken house beats and warming bass, before doffing a cap to jazzy deep house on 'Life Itself' and late 20th century jazz-funk on 'Evening Breath'. Elsewhere, 'Tramontana' is a bouncy, sub-heavy meander through leftfield deep house territory, '3/4 am' is a spaced-out downtempo shuffler, and 'Mondgesicht' sounds like a percussion-rich, 21st century take on St Germain's early work.
